Beginning Baitcaster
Is this common? I've been thinking about this quite a bit as I think towards getting my first baitcaster. It's totally what I'm planning on doing. I'm right handed, but somewhat ambidextrous and prefer to do some things with my left hand - reeling is one of them.

Your Favorite Gear Stinks
Great post! I just ordered a new reel. I was going to ask on here what people thought about it, but then refrained. Enough of them have been sold, and continued to be sold, to make me think that it must be pretty ok for my level of fishing. It was a good deal at half off, so instead of being talked out of it, I'm going to go on my own assumption and will probably enjoy it all the same.

Great Plano tacklebox
I just picked up the red Cabela's 3700 Pro Guide bag. It was on sale for $24.99 - including the boxes!! An awesome deal, and I'm glad I did, because the sale is now off. It's a little bit bigger than what I probably need, but should be the last bag I buy for a long long time. When I go out for the day I just take the empty boxes out of it and I can fill it with whatever other things I'm taking along (snacks, towel, etc.)

Saddened at the news
Amen. Did you happen to see if that boy caught anything with what you gave him?

Well I finally figured it out
We were shore fishing at a local state park yesterday and commenting on how the the trees on the bank looked like a fisherman's Christmas tree.

Every time you assault that spot, you can know where the luck is coming from, and you can smile.

Strike King Rattlin' Midnight Special
I went to pick up a few night fishing things yesterday and came across the Strike King Rattlin' Midnight Special spinnerbait. Anybody use this or have any advice on using it?

New Video! Spinnerbaits
Wow, thanks Glenn, that was great! I've been garnering a great interest in spinnerbaits recently, and that really cleared some things up for me. Well done!

Organizing your hardbaits
Are the Falcon 700 boxes a compatible size to the Plano 3700?

Gulp alive
Funny, I was going to put a post up about this bait today. While fishing my local pond yesterday with absolutely no success, I threw a regular Gulp 4" New Penny minnow on and just hooked it up through the nose (I only had Gammy Finesse Wide Gaps with me and wasn't sure they would swim straight any other way). On the first cast, I had a bass hit it so hard I thought that I had gotten caught up on something on the bottom, until it jumped out of the water and spit the hook out - I was so surprised that I didn't set the hook. I couldn't stay long after that, but it has really got my interest up in this bait. How would you all recommend rigging this up? It's a tiny pond, but I think it's holding some sweet largemouths, as no one fishes for bass in it.

Senkos in a utility box vs. bag
Nice! Thanks guys! I certainly will be fishing plenty more with these. I think I'm going to give the Trick Sticks a go when I fish out these Senkos.

Senkos in a utility box vs. bag
I looked through the FAQ's on Senko's and didn't see this, so I'm sorry if I'm double posting. Anyway... I purchased the Senko kit that comes in the 3600 box over the weekend. I had some good success with them, as this was my first time ever using them. So, I was wondering if there's a huge difference in keeping them in a utility box over keeping them in a bag. They caught fish, so I know they work coming out of the box and I wouldn't mind keeping them in a box, but I was wondering if I should put them in bags. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hooked in CT
Hi everyone! My name is Andy and I live in Connecticut. After fishing a bit as a kid, and getting a taste of bass fishing about 10 years ago, I've finally been fully bit by the fishing bug this year. My wife showed an interest in starting fishing and it totally has lit my fire. We have a two year old son that we would also like to generate an interest in fishing in down the road as well. I appreciate the family time we get together when we get to go, as well as the alone time on those solo trips out, and the time out with my buddies on a guy's trip, too! It really is about as versatile of a social hobby as one can find. I've learned a good bit just in my short time of lurking here, and really look forward to feeding my thirst for knowledge and catching some more fish! The fish in the picture is my first bass of this year!
