If you don't feel like dropping the $200 on the above posters suggestion, you can probably use it. I use a 2500 size Shimano on a UL, and it really didn't feel weird. Just put it on the rod, spool it up, and go out in the yard and make a couple of casts. If it doesn't feel right, get something else.

What size braid have you cut with em? Is it just the larger sizes, or did you cut any ~20lb test? I really don't use heavy braid, but if they cut the small diameters there may be a new set of pliers in my future.

Sounds like your hookset is good; maybe you should tex-pose your senko and see if that helps?

What kind of hook set are you using? Sometimes the worms will slide down with a good bump against structure. You may not be used to the graphite's sensitivity yet, and may be setting the hook on structure--causing the worm to slide.

Hm... That's a good idea. You could even use that in tandem with a floating CB to get even MORE buoyancy. I have a ton of foam earplugs in my range bag-- I'm gonna go put some in my tackle bag now!

He's up to for north for Academy's. Related to the mettle. I have used one for 6 monthes. Caught 50+ bass with it biggest one being 4 pounds. I waaaay prefer their centrif. brakes to magnetic.

A price range would really help. We need to know whether to recommend a Cumara/C14 or a Vendetta/Mid-priced spinning reel.

I would definitely reverse my thinking. Buy a good rod first THEN the reel. I don't how smooth and great your reel is; if you don't feel the bite--you don't get the fish.
