  1. Which Moderator are you trying to brown nose?
  2. I'm probably gonna get flamed for this... but a shakespeare ugly stik lite. The cork handled one. It makes a pretty decent crankin' stick.
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Door_breaching Most of these methods work quite well.
  4. I have a chance to pick up an a extant metal spinning reel. Apparently they have been discontinued. Any way... I can pick it up for $25 bucks NIB. Is it really metal? Enlighten me Mr. Pinnacle.
  5. That is one BIIGGG BASS! Man alive.
  6. What size spinning reel were you using. 12 lb. test sounds awfully big for most bass sized spinning reel.
  7. I'm diggin' that double ended worm thingie. That would look awesome on a dropshot wacky rig IMHO.
  8. X2 Those baby 1-minuses are money on my waters.
  9. Just be careful. Sometimes Mil-surp store charge WAY more than they are worth. I found mine (med.) for 25$. I'm also trying to figure out how to mount pvc rod holders. I'm sure there is a way. One other thing you can do. If you want/like a hydration bladder... You can pick that up at walmart for around 10 bucks. Drop it in an outside pouch, Throw a velcro tie around the strap to hold the tube, and there you go.
  10. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_73309_175008001_175000000_175008000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT I imagine you could use something like this. Get some of the small plano boxes for lure, couple a bags of your favorite plastics, and terminal tackle and your good to go.
  11. I don't know whether to admire or pity you ;D

Here is a trick I found. If you have a public rifle range go at a time when you know it will not be busy. Ours has a 10ft high dirk embankment to stop the bullets. Just go and dig the lead slugs out of that if you have on. Plus slug lead is soft and melts at a low temp.
  13. I'm a 100% shorebound angler. A few of my favorite pond lures are: Manns Baby 1-Minus I guess you call this my "confidence bait" If I'm struggling I will tie one on and at least catch a few. Chart. Spinnerbait Most people throw small spinners in ponds, but i prefer chuckin' a nice 1/2oz or 3/4oz. Other lures like senko's, rattletraps, cranks, and other soft plastics are hit and miss for me. Sometimes score a good fish or two on them-- sometimes I get skunked. The manns and a big spinnerbait always net me a few fish though.
  14. I suppose mine would be getting ready to fish off a dock. It was one of those floating type docks with the folding metal ramps to get to it. Well it had just finished raining. I had my rod and reel plus my tackle bag with me. I took my first step, fell square on my behind-- and slid the other 20ft to the dock. That diamond plate metal is hard on the backside.
  15. i have a pair of rond noses already but thanks anyways always good to hear from others That is the right tool. I can't fathom what is preventing you from wrapping the wire other than practice. As a rule of thumb, the lighter the gauge of the wire, the easy it will be to turn or wrap it. Try starting out with .024 or 0.31 wire. If you still have trouble or it hurts your fingers, you simply have sissified fingers that just need to toughened up just as those who learn to play guitar. ;D Seriously, it just takes time and practice. 8-) yea i know wat your saying but what do you think about using the wire from notebooks for the wire shaft for the inline spinners? good bad no difference? IMHO notebook wire would be far to bendable to make a good inline spinner. Think about it-- you would be re-straitening it every few casts. Also... how to plan on procuring enough wire for building? Buying notebooks on back to school sales and ripping out the wire? ;D ;D ;D
  16. I'm 6'4" 230lb with 52" shoulders, so I somewhat feel your pain. The most comfortable pack I've found is actually an old US army ALICE pack. Cheap, durable, and TONS of room (especially the large size). It is an external frame, so it may not be for you.
  17. What were some of your first, and funniest, fishing mistakes? The first one i remember is this. Within my first month of fishing, I decided it was time to learn to fish a soft plastic worm. So I merrily went to Wal Mart to pick up some 7" powerworms, hooks, and weights. Somehow along the way, I purchased size 4 hooks instead of 4/0. You should have seen me texas rigging a 7" worm with a perch hook. Fished it nearly a month like that fore' someone showed me what I was doing wrong. Another incident I remember that is quite funny. I had found a nice deep diving crankbait at a yardsale for $1. I was fishing at a lake with LOTS of lilypads. I remembered something about bass loving to hang out in lily pads. So what did I do? That's right, ran that deep diver right through em'. You've never seen someone quite so crestfallen as I was that day.
  18. Just be glad you are not fishing from the shore. If I am not careful I can lose up to 4-5 lures a trip.
  19. I always go home and put in my bathtub, give em a good cleaning, and them take them back to their pond to live the rest of their lives in peace.... Ya' pull off the legs, fry em' up, and eat em' of course!

  21. For around $50 this is what I would recommend. A plfhueger trion ul version with a -gasp- Shakespeare micro lite (I think that is the name) These are the only combo's my grandpa and I use, and with braided line you can feel a crappie bite in 30+ feet of water. Hope this helps>
  22. wow really, last year we tore them up with the summer craw color. This year I have yet to catch a bass on any thing other then a fluke. That is the exact same color I used. I wore out an entire pack without so much as a nibble. T rigged w/ 1/8oz weight on a 4/0 EWG gammy.
  23. Rage Tail Craw...
  24. I've about decided to get a Shimano Clarus. They only trouble is I can't decide between two models. The models in question is the CSSX66MA 6'6" M XF or the CSS66MHA Medium Heavy fast taper. It will be matched with probably a plfooger trion with 20-30lb braid for medium weight TX rigs, lightweight C-Rigs, and possible senkos. I already have a MH F casting rod I like a lot, and I've never tried an XF before. Maybe someone who has fished/felt both could advise me? Thanks. edit There has been some confusion apparently. This is a spinning rod.
  25. Fiar' up the grill... yum yum...
