  1. Sounds like a keep weighted hook is what you need.\ http://www.***.com/descpage-GSEGW.html
  2. It's funny, the only thread of mine to reach two pages; and it's an argument... ;D
  3. It's a small community near me called Hodgen. That dam used to be where all the surrounding area got it's water. That was before Wister Lake was formed. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&q=hodgen%20city%20dam&sa=N&source=hp&tab=wl&um=1 Right in there-abouts That is sort of what I was thinking ;D. My dad was up on the dam just messing around. I wanted him to hurry and take the picture so I could get the fish back in the water.
  4. Well this half-poundish LM bass has a lot of firsts in it for me. It is my first bass on a casting setup. It is also my first bass on a crainkbait! Here's a picture of the place I caught it. That's where I caught him. I was below the dam. Now for the fish. (Ugly kid eh?) That's a 1/2oz Rat-L-Trap in a bleeding firetiger. I got it on sale at Wal-Mart, and I've never seen that color again. This pond has a ton of brushpiles/snags in it. I though to myself, "I really shouldn't be throwing a trebled lure bait." Well on my fourth or fifth cast; I thought I had got hung up. I was in the process of cussing myself for losing such a neat colored plug, when the snag started pulling line off. I'm thinking, ( :-? a stump shouldn't do that) Well I reeled him in and there you have him. I was using a MH/F Fenwick Eagle GT Triggerstik and a Lew's Laser casting reel with 12 lb. Big game on it. Now I'm ready for the 4-5lb fish! ;D
  5. Still something I'm waiting. Hopefully I'll cure that Monday. Great Job! (Aha! I don't have to worry about any wife worrying about my fishing) 8-)
  6. No, the freezing point of water is -273.15K. Didn't you pay attention in Chemistry?
  7. I'm going to fish a small river/big creek on monday that has sms in it. The layout is like this. --------------||||----^------------- deep 14'ish Bridge deep 14' 5' or so the ^ is a rocky point that sticks out into the river and is only about 2 feet deep. The only places for you to stand is under the 2 lane bridge, and on the rocky point. I'd say they're about 20-30ft of good standing space. It's an old fasioned 6 piling bridge. The forage of the river is perch and panfish. This will be my first time fishing for smallies. I was thinking topwater, rat-l-traps, and tubes. Anything else you can think of to add to this list?
  8. Hey all, I just used up the spool of cheap BPS mono my grandpa gave me to learn how to use a casting reel with. I can't decide what line to get. I know it will be mono (MAYBE co-polymer) Academy is really the only close tackle shop so no YO-ZURI. I was thinking either trilene Big Game or Stren original. What do you guys think?
  9. On the contrary, I doubt that a 12 year old has the patience to throw swimbaits or large worms, and jigs aren't exactly the best learnin' tools either.....................Just my two cents. I don't think you caught the not-so-subtle sarcasm that post is heavily laden with... ;D
  10. Hmm... Maybe I just got a bad batch? These were so dull they wouldn't even leave a mark on my fingernail.
  11. No, they were black nickel like I always buy.
  12. Just recently I picked up a pack of VMC 4/0 EWG worm hooks. They were fairly low priced (2.50 for 9) so I thought I'd try a pack; that was a mistake! Don't let their treble hooks fool you. Their worm hooks suck. One of the dullest out of the box hooks I've ever used. Also some of the eyes were not closed! After losing a good sized fish (2-3lber) near the bank because the hook was to dull for a good hookset. Tomorrow I'm going to go see if I can a refund. :'( :'(
  13. 4/0 is the absolute smallest I would go personally. A 5/0 or 6/0 is a good choice. Just a funny story to with that. When I first started bass fishing, I went to wal mart to pick up some 7" powerworms. Well instead of 4/0 i got size 4. They were a little to small for the purpose ;D
  14. Here's some good pictures of the stock colors http://www.lurenet.com/productdetail.aspx?id=4689
  15. Hey all, thanks for all the info. I'll shy away from that mono. :'(. I know what a great value the cranks are, I have many in my bag. However, my original question is do the jerkbaits suspend? :-?
  16. That is absolutely beautiful -sniff-
  17. Hey folks, a couple of questions about some of Academies products. I went in today, and saw a couple of things that peaked my interest. The first item I eyeballed was there H20 express jerk bait. They look so good; I almost want to try and fillet em'. My question is do they suspend like a rapala? The other thing I'm going to try out is their mono. It's 1700yds of 20 lb test for 5.99$. I figure if I don't like it I can go trade it in for some big game. Thanks a bunch! Matthew

I cleaned up at a yard sale the other day; getting 12-13 packs of assorted soft plastics, and a worm binder for 5$. All of the packs were new, and had all the contents I got: 1 pack of zoom horny toad white 1 pack of zoom twin tailed grubs perch (20 pack) 2 25 packs of some worm (maybe handpour?) in black w/gold flecks 1 pack of Lake fork tackle magic shad 1 pack of some kind of trailers 1 pack of GYCB flippin' tubes 1 pack of Luck E Strike Rick Clunn tubes 1 pack of yum rib worms 1 pack of odd wacky rigging worms I think that was everything I love garage sales!
  19. Aha! My pet peeve is here. You're all going to be subject to my teenager stereotype rant. Just because someone is X years old doesn't make his actions excusable. Begging is impolite no matter what the age. Spelling is another thing... >. It takes you maybe TWO to THREE extra minutes to make sure your grammar and spelling are good. Now if you don't have a English professors grammar; that's fine. I do think however; you should at least make some semblance of a try for good English. No one is going to take improperly or poorly written posts seriously! You are not txting your friends! If your going to ask for something at least make it readable. (Most (some) of you know I'm fourteen, so this teenagers not be able to write a readable sentence gets me worked up )
  20. Another advantage for ya'll. The 33 can be bought at any major retailer. The curado is usually mail order only... ;D ;D
  21. I've shot a walther .380 my uncle CC's. They are really small, have a awfully high trigger pull, and it's fairly hard to rack the slide. All of them may not be that way, but that one was. .380 is also way more expensive. I'd go with a kel-tec 9mm if it was me (and I could legally own one that is ;D)

Meh, You should have got a colt 1911... ;D ;D (Begin hating and/or flaming now)
  23. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme! That would slay on a couple of ponds I fish!

I'm about to try and make my first wooden plug (Popper style bait). When (if) I ever manage to get it ready to hardware; is there a hook hanger that I can get locally i.e. not have to order it. I was thinking there might be some substitute, like a tiny eye-bolt that may be used. Thanks in advance for your help. Matthew Luce
  25. Looks like a kush ball with a weedgaurd and hook... ;D
