  1. I was guilty of this as well. ;D AFAIK, isn't it illegal to tell anyone other than the lunch lady that a person receives free lunch? Privacy thing, last time I heard. Exactly! I would like to know whether RECEIVING a free lunch is illegal. It says SHARING a free lunch is illegal, yet they arrested the person who received the food. How do they even know that he was aware he was receiving a free lunch? And now the school gave away private information regarding a student's participation in a social program.... I see many lawsuits in that school's near future.
  2. The Chorus sums it up.
  3. If you look at lights look at streamlight, fenix, or jetbeam. I have had a couple surefires and they are great lights but for the same cost you can get a much better light in a different brand. Depending on the set up and the light you choose adding a pressure switch is a nice addition! -matt- I've always wanted one of the pocket carry fenix's (ones that run on AAA's). Inova makes some pretty good lights too.
  4. You can make some out of a really heavy gauge wire. Be careful-- I did this to one of my rods, and now the line gets caught on it every so often.
  5. I have just the opposite reaction to mine. I can be catching them on some other crawbait and then switch to RT and it's like I flipped a switch... :-/
  6. Hackle is usually strung or bagged in larger sizes. You just trim off what you don't need. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_34511____SearchResults Here's a few of the tools to get you started. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_100438____SearchResults http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_47153_175004003_175000000_175004000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL A vice is helpful but not necessary. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98228____SearchResults Or, you could do it the easy way... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_52857____SearchResults
  7. If you've ever tied flies it would be a cinch. You'll need hackle (duh!), a bobbin, and some fly tying thread, and I like to use a little nail polish to seal mine up. Just start with several wraps to lock your thread on, tie or the hackle, whip finish the end, and put a dab of nail polish to seal the knot.
  8. Thirteen months-- that seems like a loooong time ago.
  9. I suggest you go for a flash light mount. If you ever do have to use it for home defense; it's WAY easier having to not worry about finding a light. Put something along the lines of a Shure Fire G2 and you're set. 8-)
  10. When was the last time you saw a spinnerbait swimming along? How about a natural buzzbait? Fish will hit just about any lure regardless if it looks like something they normally eat or not.
  11. Apparently I have a short between my brain and hands. The Alberto is one knot I absolutely cannot tie.
  12. What are your opinions on using "search baits" for shorebound anglers with no electronics? (Rereading this post it sounds as if I'm being a smart alec-- that is not the case. I really want to know Catt's opinion on this)
  13. Most of the time Crappies are very vertically inclined fish. The like to school around brushpiles, docks, bridge pylons etc... They suspend more than bass, so normal lures aren't to effective. Get some small jigheads 1/16-1/4oz and some 1-2" single tail grubs and solid body tubes. Use your sonar to find the depth their suspended at, count you line of (I just a piece of tape on my rod exactly one foot up from the reel) till you reach the right depth. Use long wide sweeps and then let it fall (like fishing a carolina rig) or use short sharp jigs. You'll usually get hit on the fall so pay attention.
  14. Les Stroud was actually the only survival show I enjoy. You might check out Dual Survival. It's a pretty good watch. Good tidbits of knowledge here and there.
  15. I was more amused by his form of the word "come"... "i have been waiting for them to cum out' New marketing tactic?
  16. Another possible advantage to shotguns in case of a HD situation. If you have to go to court the lawyers are not going be able to say "OMQZ you killed him with a baby-killing black evil-spec-op monkey assault rifle." (only intended who use a carbine for HD)

  18. I new it wasn't similar to the Ika, but I thought the fall rates might be similar.
  19. MattinOK posted a topic in Fishing Tackle
http://www.bigbitebaits.com/yomamamain.htm Just noticed these at Academy the other day. Seems like it has a similar profile to an Ika-- minus the tail. It sure looks interesting and for 2.09 a pack I'm going to give em' a try. Anyone else here used them?
  20. IMHO I would get a standard Mossberg 500 or similar and then put a folding stock on it. The pistol grip only is called a breaching grip. Unless you plan on breaching doors a top folding stock would probably be better. I have a Maverick 88 (made by moss.) with a top folder and extended mag. when you need the stock it's there-- but when you don't it just folds out of the way.
  21. 17 and 14? Children corrupting children. Children corrupting babies. Ah, the wonders of the "human" population never seem to amaze me . Becoming a misanthropist sounds more inviting every day.
  22. That Road Warrior watches it over and over in hopes that he will get the humor of the video? ;D
  23. http://www.backpackgeartest.org/reviews/Health%20%26%20Safety/Insect%20Repellents/GCB%20Lemon%20Eucalyptus%20and%20Catnip/ Some reviews of the natural type repellents in case you want to go that direction.
