  1. I caught that as well, thought it was pretty funny.
  2. I wasn't a big fan. Especially the "G-G-G-G-Giant bass!" thing he kept trying to pull off. I wasn't to impressed either with his interaction with Morizo Shimizu when Morizo was speaking in Japanese. I think Mark Zona would be a much better MC.
  3. Thats for sharing! That's a once in a lifetime opportunity.
  4. This was the best part of the tournament to me. Here are a couple of the links to the story from the BASS page. http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/columns/story?columnist=barone_don&page=g_col_Barone_Classic_Angels http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/columns/story?columnist=barone_don&page=g_col_Barone_Classic_AngelsII
  5. He referenced that in the press conference after the weigh-in. As far as I know, nothing says you can't use something like that but I think it pushes the boundaries a little bit. At what point do you draw the line? I'm not taking anything away from him - he's unreal on the water and clearly operates on a different level. I think Jeff Kriet was fishing with one as welll and he didn't fare nearly as well.
  6. Personally, I'm a Revo guy. I love them. The SX is a workhorse and is great to fish. I don't have any experience with the Quantum line. You might want to consider the Pro Quailifier. Its a solid reel, comes in a number of different gear ratios, and runs about $100. You could grab two or save some and pick up other things that you need/want.
  7. I'd say yes but all of the water up here is covered in about a foot of ice. My favorite times are early spring and early fall. Fall is bittersweet though because it means the season is starting to wind down.
  8. They are excellent. One of my staples in early spring, fall.
  9. I bought a couple spools a couple of weeks ago. Granted, I can't use them for another month plus but whos counting?
  10. Great fish! The space monkey turned me on to the entire line of Rage Tail baits. Now theyre all a staple.
  11. Berkley also makes a product called Maxx. Its supposed to combine the castability of XL with the abrasion resistance of XT. I've given it a try. Its pretty decent. It does take a bit to shake the memory though.
  12. They're not all that bad actually. Give them a rip. You might actually like them. I throw the XCalibur's but thats just my personal preference.
  13. I'm rooting for Ike, followed by Klein and Crews.
  14. I have about another month and a half or so before I can even use the word ice out. The wind blown banks/rocky banks are excellent suggestions.
  15. City Limits and The Bass Pros
  16. Just curious as to what lures are not really conducive to spinning gear ? I do fine with 5 oz swimbaits ...or handling a 4 oz pyramid sinker, with a 1/2 to 1 lb live Split Tail (like I will be doing tomorrow ! Whooo Hooo ! Can't wait ...besides the rain Peace, Fish Good point. I should have been more specific. Light spinning gear. I throw my havier stuff on baitcasters (jigs, spinner baits, heavier cranks). Weightless plastics, etc. are on my spinning stuff. Good luck on your outing today. Cant wait to see the results.
  17. I used to use spinning stuff exclusively. I got into the baitcast setups this year because I wanted to throw stuff that isn't really conducive to spinning gear. I still use my spinning reel quite a bit but I really enjoy the baitcast gear. They each have their time and place. Ultimately, just go with what you have the most confidence in.
  18. x2. I had the loosening of the reel lock when I first started using it. I really tightened it down and I havent had an issue since. The teflon tape is a good suggestion as well.
  19. Interesting. Tough to really get a feel for them but, going on appearance alone, they dont seem to present a revolutionary design change.
  20. Rage chunks and Netbait paca chunks
  21. I think its a matter of personal preference. If youre comfortable using it, then its not an issue. If it doesnt feel right, try something else.
  22. Vendetta. Its fantastic. Not to confuse the issue more - but Abu is offering rebates on a lot of their product right now. The Veritas would cost $74.99 after the rebate. Thats a steal.
  23. Yes indeed. I root for Iaconelli more than any other Elite series angler. I love his enthusiasm for the sport.
