  1. After looking at many photos here, I don't see any screws or finish washers on the top side of carpeting. Do you guys screw down your plywood first, and then carpet it? If so, how do you work the carpet when you have a tight fit of the plywood at the sides of boat, or against any other boat surface? In cases like that, there's no room to wrap the carpet under plywood. When I did mine, I carpeted the plywood first, then laid it down and used screws with finish washers. Now I'm wondering if I did it the best way. Thanks.
  2. Nice bass there. Good luck with the new job. I'm so lucky, in that I can fish at least 20 lakes within a 15 minute drive. 2 of my favorites are literally 4 minutes away.
  3. I don't want a V-hull. I want to get a 14' flat bottom Jon, with a 48" wide floor. Craigslist is just loaded with V-hulls, but a Jon like I want is very hard to find.
  4. I agree, but they sure are hard to find. The good thing is I'm not in any hurry.
  5. I saw that, but I'm not going to buy a new one.
  6. Thanks. I've been watching Craigslist and they all seem to be the narrower ones. Is there such a thing as a 12' flat jon with a 42" or 48" wide floor? I think I'd rather get a 14' but I'm just curious.
  7. I've been thinking about picking up a 12' or 14' flat jon to use on a couple lakes near me, instead of my larger boat. What would you consider a minimum width floor for a very stable flat jon? My 16' jon's floor is 48" wide and I love it. Would a 42" floor width be wide enough for most people? I've tried a 36" wide floor and I didn't like it at all. Thanks.
  8. I thought this was about a porno movie.
  9. Thanks guys. I don't know if they're grass carp or not.
  10. The first thing I did to my flat bottom jon was to put a floor in it. If I didn't, I would have tripped on the ribs and killed myself.
  11. I was fishing today for bass and northern pike, and there were many large carp swimming around in the shallows. In one area, there had to be at least 30, all 24" and larger. Generally, is this a bad sign for any given lake? This lake is 105 acres. Thanks.
  12. Thanks guys. When charging, should the caps be on or off? What do you mean by "cheap, automatic charger?"
  13. About how far above the plates should the water level be? How often does the water level need to be checked? Thanks.
  14. Is the Everstart battery maintenance free? I'm looking for a maintenance free deep cycle battery, under $100. Is that doable? Thanks.
  15. What about the size of the baits in the fall?
  16. Is it OK to charge a deep cycle battery after every time out? Or does it depend on how much you use it each time out? I just have a stand alone charger also.
  17. I know it's been a while, but I did some more testing a couple days ago. When I run the motor at full throttle for about 30 seconds, it still bogs down and dies. BUT, when I run at full throttle and pump primer bulb, it DOES NOT bog down and die out. It runs normal. Does that seem to be a bad fuel pump? Also, is it normal for the primer bulb to lose it's firmness after the motor is off for an hour or more? Thanks.
  18. Has anyone used the plastic snake Doug Hannon is selling? Are they any good? I saw an infomercial a couple nights ago about them, and was looking at the website, bassprofessor.com. Thanks.
  19. I was looking at Gander Mountain a few days ago, and the guy recommended the Eagle 320. They have it for $149. I may go with that. Thanks.
  20. Thanks guys. Can anyone recommend a decent one under $150?
  21. How many bags of worms are you talking about? I keep mine in a small Igloo cooler.
  22. Can anyone recommend a budget depthfinder that is easy to use, and learn how to use? Under $150, the less the better. Thanks.
  23. Has anyone fished here this season for bass? I'm wondering if the lake is as good as I've read. Is it considered a numbers lake, or less larger fish? I have the lake map book from Sportsman's Connection, and it calls Ripley a "great bass lake". I don't know how current this info is. I want to get some info before I drive out there. Is it free to launch? Any tips, hot spots? Thanks.
  24. When I was looking for an outboard motor, a couple mechanics told me to avoid Force motors because they were very unreliable. But I've never owned one.
