Today I checked the gas filter screen and it's clean. I hope to be able to run it tomorrow and see if pumping the primer bulb allows it to keep running. What brand of plastic tank do you guys recommend? Thanks.

I always use a 2" or 3" grub in a contrasting color to the spinnerbait. I do this with in-line spinners too.

Raul, I didn't say the tank was rusty. I sure don't see any rust. Thanks everyone for your input. I picked up a shop manual from the library today.

I'm no mechanic, but I'll check these things out. The gas is new, plugs were changed the beginning of this season, the tank is being vented. I normally just use the choke to start it when cold. The tank is an old 6 gallon steel one. There's no vent screw on cap, I was told to just crack the cap open slightly to vent it. So the problem must be something with the tank, dirt in fuel system, or fuel pump? How do I check the primer bulb? Thanks.

I have a 1990 25HP Johnson that may be posessed. One day it runs fine. The next time out it will bog down and die when you are at full throttle for at least 15-20 seconds. If you back off the throttle a little, it will run fine again. Then yesterday it was dying out also at low speed. Does this make sense to anyone? Is it definitely a gas flow problem? Thanks for any advice.

That floor looks pretty flat now, isn't it? If anything, I would use a much thinner piece of plywood(to keep the weight down). 3/8" is probably all you'd need, and maybe wrap it with carpet. I also have back problems, and I alternate sitting and standing in my boat. I normally don't fish two days in a row either.

Thanks guys. If I do buy a second small boat, I want to keep my expenses down as much as possible.

Do you have a battery, trolling motor, etc. in each, or do you transfer between boats? The reason I'm asking is, I'm thinking about buying a second boat(cheap, smaller, lighter) to use on a couple lakes that are too hard to launch my bigger boat. I'm thinking about a 12' or 14' V-hull or flat bottom jon. Thanks.

I'm sure the bass here are much smaller than you're used to in CA. The biggest bass I ever caught in WI. was 20", last week.

Is there any need to waterproof the splice connector for trailer taillight wiring? I have some waterproof electrical tape, should I use that? This is for a new pair of submersible LED taillights. Thanks.

You should ask this in about 6.5 years. Recommendations now would be irrelevant anyway. It sounds like you've got some very generous parents.

I much prefer evening fishing. I used to fish for musky all the time in the evening, and it's great for bass too. I am not an early riser.
