  1. Also a lot of names previously mentioned. But i would add Raul he knows his stuff, dodgeguy even though he will throw me of the boat with my shimano reel, avid rod and powerpro line. burleytog for his one liners. the rooster nice guy. Not last but not less nick for his smart mouth, may have to throw him of the boat but maybe go back and pick him up, seems a nice kid. ;D
  2. I bought the St. croix AVID AVS70MF and the AVS68MXF this winter and i just love the mxf. Granted i have no experience with upper end rods. But this rod is just great with plastics, i can feel the fish inhale the bait and my hook ups have greatly improved with this rod.
  3. up till this year all my rods and reels where cheap ones from wal-mart. So this winter i bought two avids and a premier and plan on not giving any reviews till the end of summer for a fair out look on if it is worth the extra money. I will say with the avid mxf6,8 i can feel the bass inhale the plastics before i feel the weigh on the line. With the cheaper rods i could not feel this happening! Also my hook ups with the x- fast tip is greatly improved. Now for my shimano symetre reels i got this winter, the drags are the best i have ever used and i swear the the reels get smother ever time i use them! So far yes better is worth it!!
  4. Used them on my fly rod and now on my 2- piece rod in the trunk of my car, for a quick fish on the way to work. They will slowly open up in the gap with each lure change. Just close back up with a needle nose pliers. If your son goes through a lot of lure changes in a day i would throw out the clip at the end of the day. You can only bend metal so many times till it really weakens.
  5. Turtle wax ice. Up till this year all my rods were cheap ones from wall mart, But they still look brand new. Just a coat or two a year will work. The new Turtle wax ice leaves no white residue on plastic, black finishes, or white billed up in crevices. Work on your car too! ;D
  6. Nice fish! Gives me hope for when i move up here to the Old town, Bangor area.
  7. Love those maine smallmouth! Not knocking the rest of the state but i think Washington county is the gem.
  8. Can you swim? ;D Seven feet not that deep with goggles. 8-)

Z-rust capsules and taps in the plano boxs. I like the safety pin idea a lot. Have to give that a try for hook organizing!
  10. Never heard of the fat ika till last year. Some glad i ordered some, they worked out really well last summer. If you fished a senko or tube before yore all sett to learn to fish crankbaits!
  11. Love the grandfalls flowage that were i got into using top water years a go. You know because of all the plup wood and old boom logs in the river. Also i have also been looking at those drift socks that crestliner talk about. I was thinking the 18 inch sock for my 14 ft. boat would be the right size. Do you ever us one?
  12. Nice fish! Can,t what to get off this over time deal at work. worked on my boat my last day off , :)can,t what to fish the st. croix.
  13. No but i have done well on a super duper for brook trout and smallmouths!
  14. A fly fishing vest works well for me when i bank fish. Just look for one with the larger pockets, to hold small plano boxs.
  15. Listen to RW, and have money to spare! [/qu9x20 9x20
  16. You can also throw small streamers, caddis fly, dragon fly nymphs! With a ul rod and split shot. Fly fishing on the cheat! Buy the good ones at a local fly shop.
  17. Any size that fits the situation as long as your reel has a good smooooth drag!
  18. X2 P.S. Get rid of those fish scales and you will have better fishing memory,s! ;D ;D ;D
  19. eezox! Look it up on line. Its not to expensive and it works great. If you have and old reel you don,t use much and is a little ruff put a few drops in and than turn reel . You will think you just added 6 bearings to your reel! Leave the reel for several months in storage and try again, still smooth. If you still don,t like you can us it on your firearms!
  20. Any local st.croix dealers? His orders take one week shipped to maine. Maybe a little late for a friday dead line. Also shipping is free through the dealer.
  21. I don,t know but a 6ft. lite rod i think would match up better with the 1000 size reel. Now you could take the $200 reel money and buy the 1000 and the 2500 symetre,s for the other rod. Than again the c14 is sweet!
  22. Sorry the ($120) rod is the st. croix TIS66MM.
  23. Just bought two st. croix avids the AVS70MF for a all round rod. The AVS68MXF for plastics. Now i thick a crankbait rod would be nice, St. croix has the tws70mm ($230) the TWS70MM ($120) the one i will probably get. My wife gone kill me ! But the baitmonkey loves me! :)
  24. If it does not say odds are it is a fast action.
