line capacity
I see your points, but disagree. With certain lines there are a big diffrence. Some manufactures are the same diameter but "rated" 4lbs apart, thats a pretty big diffrence. I agree for bass fishing alot of reel capacities are overkill and the weight of all that line makes the spool much heavier. My concern was I'll occasionally hook into a striper when they come up the james here in the spring, and they can pull off 100yards of line in a heartbeat. If I hook into one at the end of a long cast, well you can guess what might happen.

line capacity
My question is with diameters being so inconsistent from manufacturer to manufacturer, how do you know what the reel company is starting out with? It seems to be somewhat of a crapshoot unless you actually check yourself. I've ran into problems with buying a spool of line planning on spooling two diffrent reels with said line. I filled the first spool to the specs. (1/8'' inch from lip) and came up considerably short on the second one. Lesson learned and now I always add "filler line" before spooling up.

This lure has been producing big time for me.
The silver/white belly is all that I've used. Add some markings from a red spike-it marker and you have a pike MAGNET. I like using it on just a ballhead jig. I've had some good luck experimenting by cutting the head of the lure, putting the jighead inside and gluing it back so just the line tie sticks out the top. The end result looks like a tube rigged w/an internal jighead. It's much more stream lined and natural. This gives it a great "lift and drop" action. Some models come with the hooks with the lead on the shank but I've never been a fan of that style rigging. I'm sure its a mental thing, but it's just too unnatural looking for my taste. I've stumbled across a few more ways to rig these things but thats classified ;D

These are killer baits, but you will go through them quickly on a hot bite.I've found the best way to get more life out of plastics is to do the following. 1. take a razor and slice through from the tip of the lure about a 1/2'' or so back. 2. Take the razor and slice it the oposite way forming a cross in the nose of the bait. 3. Take ur favorite glue (I use regular super glue and generously glue the insides of the bait. I came up with this specifically for this bait. It also will save a ton of senkos.

Karu Lures poison tail jigs
I was wondering if anyone uses this jig? If so, what retrieves do like for it? How does the single wire weed guard do in cover? Trailers? Any insight would be appreciated. These things look awesome and give me a few ideas.

GSP yeh i was thinking that too, but by who? Would have to be a great boxer or striker. Nobodys Grappling with GSP at that weight class. Anderson gets cocky in fights though, i can see him getting caught. But it seems like everything he throws lands. If he keeps messing around at 205, i think somebody will catch him. At 185 though, i cant see it happening. Tough call. They've all cleaned out there respective divisions. I think GSP will get caught again at some point. For some reason I can't get the image of Serra beating GSP down outta my head. Honestly I cant think of anyone other than Silva doing it. But who knows. Maybe if Nate Marqaurdt stepped down it would get interesting. But I doubt it. Penn has been known to let his cardio slip (matt hughes fight) so I suppose he's capable of not showing up in shape and getting put in check late in a fight. I honestly want to see him lose, but let's be real Silva is lightyears ahead of everyone in the sport right now. Say what you like about Fedor, but when was the last time Silva was even tested?? He has that Muhhamed Ali kinda punching where he can knock people out going backwards. Did you see the griffin fight? It look like the friggin matrix.

shaky head assistance
pretty basic here abu garcia cardinal (dont remember which size or model sorry) on a 7' medium airrus 456 co-matrix rod. For line I like pline cxx #6. I've had many fish over 7lbs on this line and it don't quit. I fish ponds with a lot of muck on the bottum and the only jighead I've found that I can use with any weight to it that doesnt collect junk is the gambler giggy head. These come prepainted and match up perfectly with a powerbait or gulp! shakeyworm. I'm sure it doesnt matter that much, but I hate the way most jigheads "mate up" to the worm (hope that makes sense). I like eveything to be clean and streamlined. The only gripe i have with the giggy heads is out of the package they dont hold the plastic that great, but there are ways to fix that. Here's one the old lady caught last summer on this set up.

- Lucky craft sammy alternatives
Guys I agree cant beat a spook! The magnum/saltwater version will always be in my playbook. The H20 baits sound great, but unfortunetly I dont live near an academy, and I dont see them on their website. After looking around online I'm looking at the following: Megabass Dog X -very realistic looking. But megabass has kind of been a disapointment to me in the past Jackal Bowstick LC gunfish Lobina rico suave- the regular rico is highly regarded, but I've never heard any feedback on this bait. Anyone have any insight on these or others?- Lucky craft sammy alternatives
I've used the sammy 115 in MS american shad with GREAT results over the last 3 years . I was wondering if anyone could reccomend anything comprable? No real reason other than I'm a topwater junkie and just wanna change it up. I have never heard much about the excalibur jimmy, thoughts? Thanks Josh- Where Are All The Cowboy Fans?
Unfortunetly we're not going anywhere until phillips is gone. It's a direct reflection of the coach when a team continues to shoot itself in the foot game after game possesion after possesion. There is absolutely no discapline or accountabilty on that team whatsoever. Flozell "the motel" Adams has done more stupid things at the worst possible time than anyone in the history of football. And NOTHING is done about it. Week after week- Samsung Cell Phones
Funny about 2 months back I was comparing these very same phones. I'm very anal about phones. Did alot of research and decided to go w/the impression. Pluses The screen is one of the first of its kind and color really looks amazing on it (also quite big) Great camera Great for texting/web surfing Operation is smooth and user friendly The only downsides: No corporate email The screen scratches VERY easily The menu screen doesnt rotate when u turn it. if you have big fingers the top keyboard is slightly tight Check out cnet.com and read their reviews, I believe it won an award from them.I work for AT&T and everyone I've seen with this phone has been happy with it.- Anyone still use Abu round reels?
I've gotta red 6000 that gets used for x walk 12's (the big saltwater version), big spooks, and the occasional minnow w/ bobber rig. It handles all of the above well, although its a bit heavy for all day use.- best lure when bass are boiling

- P-line CXX
A friend of mine reccomended I try it in 6lb on my spinning rigs. At first I thought the cxx would be more like a trilene XT (stiff, high abrasion resistance, strong etc). I even asked him twice, "are you sure you don't mean CX"? He assured me to "give it a chance", as he'd used it faithfully for years. I have to say it has performed better than any line i'ved tried on my spinners. (hybrid, trilene XL, suffix elite, to name a few). It's not stretchy, handles great, and it is REALLY tough. For the record I throughly saturated all my reels with KVD L/L.- Re: Did I catch my Citation??
4lbs 4oz- Coon
Their neat animals, I had several as pets growing up. It was cool to watch them take an applejack in their little hand when eatin and dunk it in the water bowl like a donut...The do get pretty mean though!- What is the BEST lake in Northern Virginia for BIG bass
Potomac all the way! You can pretty much set your watch to the topwater bite if the conditions are right. Anna is a fun lake to fish, as you can often turn around from beating the docks for largemouths and catch striper out in the open in the same cove. I've personally only fished it 5 times or so, but fish in the 4lb+ range were not hard to comeby. Alot of people over look swift creek resivoir but more citations come out of there than any other fishery in the state. My best advice is to go on the Game and inland fisheries website, lookup "citations" and where they were caught, and zero things in from there. There is a certain lake in the farmville area with alot of timber thats full of bigguns- abu ambassaduer mods
I've searched but havent turned up much. I have an 06' model 6000 (the red one with the clicker). I Absolutely love the look and feel of the reel. While it has served me well, I would like to see what aftermarket parts or swappable upgrades are available for this reel? Handles, spools, bearings, etc? I'm interested in asthetics and performance. I know this is kind of a broad question but I value any insight that you may have. Thank you all, Josh- The Ultimate Fighter
I think slowly people are realizing there are few "big" guys out there that can hang round after round. I trained for a while a couple years ago before my son was born and was amazed at what a balls to wall fight can take out of you. It's interesting seeing guys from the elite level of other sports that cant hang.- favorite food on a budget?
Lived alone for about a year and a half a while back, and I hated spending a ton of money on food for just one person. I got to be pretty good at savin a buck. Friends wouldnt believe me when I would go grocery shoppin and eat good for 2 weeks on 40 bucks or so. Heres a few tips: Cube steaks- You can get a huge pack (usually 5 or 6 big "steaks" ) for 5 or 6 bucks. If your not a food snob, these cook really fast and taste great. Chef boyardee canned spaghettis and the like- you can catch em on sale for less than a dollar at times, and it makes darn near a full meal. Oatmeal- A box goes a long way mixable drinks- lemonade, cool aid, and my favorites were the gatorade propel types. Big lots has a 10 pack for .90 One thing I liked to do was hit a discount store like big lots first, often they have killer deals that you might not expect. Then go to a grocery store and get whatever you have left there. Also if you pay attention to the date, most places have a day where they mark down items in the meat section...keep your eye out for that. If you hunt or have access to venison its really versitle and quite tasty if you know what your doing. This thread's makin me hungry!!!!!- Pfluger President
Without any info as to what your going to be using it for, this is a pointless question. There are pros/cons to both. - Lucky craft sammy alternatives
