  1. There are no sensitivity or durability issues with a QUALITY multi piece or telescopic Rod blank.
  2. I've only built on the K2. They jade no markings on them. The woven butt looks kinda cool. They are light and crisp but more expensive than some equivalent options. I'm not familiar wit the recons but would be afraid to try one based on my experience with other models.
  3. I watched a snapper swim up and grab a wounded bluegill floating after being deep hooked. If it looks real enough to fool snakes and turtles I imagine the bass will be in it too.
  4. You can't say they're one power lower than rated because there's no definition or standard what 1,2 or 3 power, med, mh etc is. That's the problem. Across the board Dobyns tend to be on the lighted end and st croix on the higher with everything in between. None of them can be said to be "right" though.
  5. Any moving bait that doesn't need to be burned. It'll work as a jig reel too, just not my first choice for when fish bite and run at the boat.
  6. There's no right or wrong. Rod ratings are all subjective. Look at lure weight ratings first then power label to possibly get an idea how much butt it has. Asking for feedback from other users as you've done here is a good idea but fishing one for yourself is the only real way to get your answer
  7. For what you're doing a properly setup reel is more important than any particular model and must be matched to an appropriate Rod.
  8. If you're getting short strikes on spinnerbaits change profile, blades or color. If the fish wants it you couldn't react fast enough to stop them.
  9. Mod describes where the Rod bends not necessarily how easy it bends. I don't usually like slower actions for spinner baits but if the hook is sharp that rod might be stout enough to get a hookset. Same for swim jigs. If you do any cat fishing that's a possibility too.
  10. I got your email and am responding with answers tonyour questions. We'll take good care your reels.
  11. I've seen that before . Seems like an expensive and heavy way to mount a butt cap/grip.
  12. The mechanical advantage of the Winchs ratio isn't as apparent when cranking shallow but it casts well and work fine.
  13. Bone, black and chartreuse.
  14. Float fishing in lakes is good for suspended fish. I'm rivers set the float so the bait just ticks bottom. This gives a very natural looking presentation.
  15. I don't see why it wouldn't work. I had a day I couldn't keep the pickerel off one of those.
  16. Try that Ned rig under an adjustable float in the river and you'll like it even better.
  17. I don't see a lot of similarities between the two unless you put a micro tube on a 1/16 head. The Midwest finesse technique originated plying featureless water.
  18. Ya nothing too technique specific. Power depends on the brand and model. Probably a Hvy.
  19. A short leader helps with those tangles and that's the only real draw back to the braid.
  20. An inch off a fast action Rod wil likely be noticeable but shouldn't make the Rod useless. Trimming a Rod blank from either end slows the action. In this case the affect should be minimal.
  21. I think that powder is just hot glue ground up but I'm not sure. You can but tip adhesive which is high temp hot glue, right at Walmart and other big box stores.
  22. A med and ml Rod should cover small river fishing. Tubes, senkos, floating rapalas, hair jigs, and heddons mini torpedo are my go to baits.
  23. Recoating will make a clumpy finish and adhesion is a concern. A dab of Sally Hansen Hard as Nails is probably a better interim fix.
  24. If you've got the budget for NRX look into a custom. You're exactly right that sensitivity is perception and not quantifiable. Some of the sensitivity of the NRX is due to pre conceived notions tied to the Loomis name. They're definitely high end rods but not quite as mystical as they're sometimes portrayed.
