  1. Be careful oiling centrifugal brake pins. They can be made sticky. Best to just keep them clean.
  2. A drop of oil should suffice and even that isn't really necessary since they're plastic parts with little stress on them. Main thing is that they're clean.
  3. Shipping is a big concern on minor repairs. Pm sent
  4. I'll be happy to quote builds for you. In fact I have a MH spinning Rod already built.
  5. There's a little spring loaded clicker on the inside of the spool and a toothed washer on the shaft. Make sure both are in place and seated. The clicker can get bent out of shape putting the spool on and off. It should be pretty obvious if it's damaged.
  6. Shortening the grip will no doubt affect the feel. Whether or not it will be in a negative way is hard to say. If you're set on reusing the butt drill it out like gotti suggested.
  7. Truth is, if a Rod blank breaks after the first couple times it's fully loaded the user is at fault. Either handling or user error cause the vast majority of failures. Workmanship like grips, reel seats and maybe wraps should be covered long term.
  8. That's a good start but you'll want to adjust for conditions.
  9. In addition to keeping the bait down, a little weight will **** the float to sit straight, limit resistance and indicate light bites.
  10. I've used it on kids / loaner rigs where I expect to go thru lots of line from tangles, snags, twist etc. As far as inexpensive mono goes you could do worse I think.
  11. In any model gears are directional so left and right handed models are not interchangeable.
  12. Pull off two casts worth of line and reel it back under tension. Set tension so bait falls and spool stops when bait hits the ground.
  13. Set the spool tension with mag on 0 then set brakes. Avoid snap casts and concentrate on a smooth fluid stroke. If you're feeling a thump mid cast you may have a braid digging or splice knot issue.
  14. You can see some on Facebook or I can send you some related to what you're looking for.
  15. I'll be happy to quote Rod builds for you. There are a few other regulars here that do good work too. I won't name them for fear of forgetting someone.
  16. What kind of reel? Some use grease in amounts and areas that result is a different feel than you get with a clean reel.
  17. I wouldn't pull braid with any spool. Go for it and just use your head in handling it.
  18. Fish it as is hard for a season then have it deep cleaned annually. In the interim keep the level wind clear of debris and oiled lightly. Pull the spool periodically and swab out the frame and spool rim. Add a drop of oil to the side of each spool bearing every 4-6 trips or as needed.
  19. I wouldn't even pay msrp. I bought a cu 200e new at gander for $99 when first discontinued .
  20. Looks good. I don't do many up locking for myself because of the way I grip the reel stem the heel of my hand rests on the threads or hood.
  21. Depends on the Rod. You might fit 3 in a 3" tube by alternating which way they point.
  22. At that price point you can't go wrong among any of the name brands. Performance and durability are there it comes down to the features you prefer.
  23. If you haven't , try cleaning the whole spool with simple green and hot water. If there's a little grit in there just adding oil won't fix it.
  24. If you can't get a new reel out of them see if you can get the frame and I'll swap it out for you. Trying to reattach the reel foot will just lead to more aggravation.
