Length and action for jig and worm rod
Well I never oversell. I know not everyone has the budget or time to spend experimenting. That's why I said sometimes. BassResource.com is the place to come for advice and feedback prior to purchases though.

Length and action for jig and worm rod
The trial and error are sometimes part of the fun too.

St. croix Vs. Powell
I don't know if it's the case here or not, but I can vouch for how dramatic a difference components and layout can make. Even as a Rod builder I'm often surprised.

Length and action for jig and worm rod
MH and Hvy are subjective and mean different things in different brands. A 7' 3/8-1oz fast action Rod with good backbone is pretty versatile. That's a Hvy in some cases or a MH in St croix rods.

Not bad. How is that store? We have one coming to Albany in August.

Shimano Curado Anti reverse problem.
Good point. I didn't mean to promote acetone as "safe" just the lesser of two evils. Safety first no matter what you're doing.

Shimano Curado Anti reverse problem.
Yes. Acetone is safer and just as effective. Straight simple green will work but may take a couple rounds.

Shimano Curado Anti reverse problem.
Wiping won't do much of anything. The AR needs to be flushed like any other bearing. If that doesn't do it the AR clutch will replacement.

Should I give St. Croix another shot?
This about what I was thinking. Stick to avid and up or a new gen mojo maybe.

Anyone else have a problem with the revo rocket?
Just to be sure, is the Rod appropriate for the Baits you're trying to cast ? A deep cleaning almost always brings a reel to life whether it's having issues or not

Reel maintenance and cleaning questions
Sounds like the reels could benefit from deep cleaning and lubrication. I recommend annual cleanings as a baseline. Semi-annual or biannual may be more appropriate based on usage and conditions .

Medium vs. Medium Heavy
Delaware Valley Tackle replied to You_Only_Live_Once_Fishing's topic in Fishing Rods, Reels, Line, and KnotsIf you're repeatedly breaking rods you're doing something wrong. A different make or model may suit you better then again it may not if you don't get to the bottom of what's happening.

New braids on pre-order on TW
Braid doesn't really float. It has almost neutral buoyancy but will sink once the surface tension is broken. There are enough ways to affect fall rate without "Fluoro braid"

Cork or foam rod handle?
EVA comes varying firmness. Good EVA is not squishy at all. Shape has more to do with comfort than material does IMO.

Calcutta 200D retrieve question
It's not unusual for a little more sound to come from a reel under load. Whether or not your sound is normal is really hard to say without seeing it. If it feels ok it should be safe to fish. You can always send it in over the winter for a check up.

Dropshot Rod Comparisons
A drop shot terminal rig can very quite a bit in components and application. For vertically fishing finesse plastics the 6'10" ML XF options work well.
