three options on a new baitcasting setup
Could I get some suggestions on how I should adjust it for optimal use? I'm new to baitcasters so I don't want to end up messing it up a ton right off the bat

three options on a new baitcasting setup
X2 I'd take a Revo S over an SX any day of the week. I'm not a fan of magnetic brakes at all. Alright cool, I really hope I like how it fishes. This is my first baitcaster and I;m looking forward to using it

three options on a new baitcasting setup
Awww, went back to Dicks today and realized the first option was a Revo S and not an SX. Still got it though since The Revo S + the All Star Select rod for $90 is still a good deal what do yall think about the Revo S? Still a good reel?

three options on a new baitcasting setup
So Dick's has some good deals going on right now where I live, and I've been meaning to get a baitcasting setup since I only have an old shakespeare intrepid spinning setup I got several years ago for like $30. So here are my options, what do you guys think? 1. Abu Garcia Revo SX with an All Star Select 7' medium heavy rod for $89.99 2. Pflueger Criterion with an All Star Select 6.5" medium heavy rod for $79.99 3. Shimano Citica 200e (just the reel, no rod) - $119 + whatever the rod costs that I buy I was planning on getting the Citica but at the prices of the other two combos I'm not sure anymore. What do yall think? I mainly fish for bass, carp and catfish. Thanks

WHYYYY!?
Went out on the lake today (last night vacationing in the adirondacks) to fish for some smallies using my new *** Trick Sticks I got the other day. I've caught about 10, 10-12" smallies over the last few days and today I decided to use the smaller, 4" trick stick since the bass were pretty small. Well, after about an hour of fishing I had caught one 12" smallie and two 8-9 inchers. THEN I got a big bite and pulled in a smallie that was seriously 4.5-5lbs. The line snapped (bad knot? don't know) once I got him in the canoe and as I held him up some other canoers went by and were like "omg look look thats huge!" etc etc The bass flops around in the canoe and makes his way to the back, and I'm freaking out thinking hes gonna flop out into the water...so I use an ore and get him closer and pick him up and man was this fish beautiful . I grab my phone to snap a pic and guess what....MY PHONE IS DEAD!!!!! WHYWHYWHY did it have to die!?! I'm probably never going to catch a smallie that big, the girl was a monster!! to look at it a better way, the canoers that went by had dropped their camera in the water, so at least I didn't do that... I wish I had a picture :(

Bass or turles??
I highly doubt the turtles are doing any kind of jumpng, but they could be floating near the surface and lunging their heads at it as that's how snapping turtles bite

fishing progression when theres no bite?
Thanks everyone, but what if you KNOW there are fish there? I understand what you're all saying but what if you're bait isn't producing but you know there are fish there? What then? Different lure, color, type?

fishing progression when theres no bite?
I'm never sure what to do when the bite isn't on. I never know if I should change colors, change to a different type of the same lure (brush hog vs senko or popper vs jitterbug for example) or chage lure completely (soft plastic to jig, or jig to spinner/crank etc). I also never know how long to fish that bait before changing. So what do y'all do and after how long of trying? Also, does anyone know of an article or post explaining when to use what colors? I feel like I've heard lots of conflicting things on bright days vs cloudy, day vs evening/daybreak vs night, muddy and stained vs clear Thanks everyone

How To: Fish A Craw
Awesome post dude very informative, did you write it? Are there any other good how tos like this one regarding other fishing methods for bass?thanks a ton
-
Got Skunked
Just keep at it. What is the water like? What lures and colors are you using besides the senko? Do you wade in to access better angles?

Morning Techniques
Id probably fish it the same as any other time if the top water stuff didn't work, but I'm interested to see wht other people do

YOUR Top 10 Artificials of All Time
Don't really have 10 but my favorites right now: Senko/hopefully trick sticks once I get them Brush hogs Black topwater popper (I think its a saltwater lure but it catches bass like crazy) Rage tail space monkey And I hope to add the jigs I have to this soon. To me they look DEADLY with a ragetail baby craw trailer but haven't caught anything on them in the few times I've used them

This a LM or a SM?
Ha I actually caught mine in mirror lake next to lake placid in new york (adirondacks) but the other poster said it was a smallie and I think so too
-
This a LM or a SM?
I've been catching a ton of these little things on a small lake in less than 10 feet of water with senkos. I've never caught a smallie but I'm pretty sure what I'm catching is smallmouth bass. Am I right? Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us

quick question on line
Is there a big difference between 6# and 8#? Maybe it's just in my head but I feel like the higher strength 8# would be better in case I ever catch a bigger fish? but maybe I'm wrong? Also, do you recomment a site to buy yo-zuri off of? Dick's doesn't carry it

quick question on line
I'm looking to order some new line today for my spinning reel, and I was just wondering if I could get a couple quick opinions. I mainly fish bass, sometimes in some medium-thick milfoil, and also sometimes fish trout and catfish. I'm about to move states into northern Virginia from CT, so I really am not sure what type of water I'll be fishing often and if it's stained or clear. I also fish a wide variety of baits, ranging from soft plastics, to topwaters, to spinners and somtimes jigs I've been told Yo-Zuri Hybrid is great line, but should I go with the original or ultra soft? Also, what test should I get and what color? I read a post on here showing the breaking strengths of Yo-Zuri line but can't find it now, ,but I remember it is much higher than the test. I tried doing some searching but can't find anything solid, so I'd greatly appreciate any help from yall. Thanks a lot

how often do YOU get reaction strikes?
My last 2 bass (my PB 6lber and a 5lber tonight) were caught off of reaction strikes. The 6lber hit right as my popper hit the water in the late evening, and tonight the 5lber hit right when my weightless trigged space monkey hit the water during sunset Anyone else get a the majority of their bass like this? Sure seems to be common for me now edit* meh, figured I'd show a couple pics of the girl I caught tonight since I wasn't planning on making a new thread for it 20in length, 13.5in girth - this site estimates it just over 5lbs. I'd say it's more like 4.5ish. Pics don't do her justice though, she was pretty fat
