Shane, those are some rediculous fish. Youve been KILLING them this year! Fmoore, I think you have inspired me to go to spofford between your monster smallies last year and that pike last week.

NHBassMaster2, That sounds like a great few days! Good to know that the spawn is on. I will be trying somewhere around the Concord area tomorrow and will post if I get anything nice.

We dont have a depth finder or a thermometer on the boat currently, so Im not sure of the water temps. I doubt it was any higher than 50.

Got out on Turttle Town today and battled the wind with CLR9933 for around 4 hours and only caught a 1 lb. largemouth. Second half of the day we went over to Rollins Pond in Gilmanton (Recomended by Shane) and got 4 largemouth with the biggest hitting 2.5 lbs. All 5 fish were caught on different baits in different parts of the lakes, so we couldn't get a solid pattern going, but still a good day on the water.

What Are You All Using For Lures Now In Southern Nh
Jig with a trailer is my bait of choice right now, because you can fish it so many different ways to cater to how they want it.

I managed to get 2 bass in the 1 pound range and a few pickerell all on bitsy bug jigs with a twin tail grub trailer today. This is the latest in the season I have caught bass, other than through the ice, and it felt great to get my bass fix before winter starts.

Newton Ma Area
Hey guys, I tried out Chestnut Hill Reservoire a couple times in the past few weeks. Ive seen tons of big baitfish, but all ive caught was a handful of pickerell. No big pike yet, and no bass to be found. The season is over now, but I will be trying it out again in the spring. I caught a couple of small bass on shallow crankbaits recently at Harold Parker State Forest in North Andover as well. Anyone else fished there before?

I got 1 bass last week on a shallow crankbait, but mostly pickerell as well. Time to hit up the power plant in Bow before the EPA restricts the warm water outflows!

Thanks Beverly Bassman. The fish we caught in the 12-18 foot deep range were on a somewhat steep drop off that ends up in about 25 feet of water and has scattered rocks all along it. Since our crankbaits wouldn't hit bottom in 18 feet of water even on long casts, we stuck our rod tips down a few feet into the water while reeling in so that our crankbaits would bump off rocks and cause some reaction strikes. We saw Paul Elias doing that on Falcon lake when he broke the record for heaviest weight in a tournament. That link shows the documentary about his record on youtube. I would think you should start having more luck in the shallow water starting VERY soon now that it is cooling down. For now with the crankbaits, try looking for water that has close access to deeper water that has good structure on it and maybe you will have better luck. Wish I could give you some better advice, but thats all Ive got for now. Good luck!

Went out yesterday with clr9933 and we had an incredible afternoon of fishing. We tried jigs, senkos, rage roosters and spinnerbaits near the shore line with no luck. After about an hour we tried deep cranking in 12-18 feet of water using "sexy shad" pattern crankbaits and we killed them! Ended up with about 20 bass in total. I landed a 3 pound 4 ounce and clr9933 set his new personal best twice within 20 minutes! He caught a 6 pound 10 ounce then a 5 pound 14 ounce which are both shown bellow.

Hey Guys, I took Shane's adivce this spring and started fishing with a keel weighted rage rooster and it really paid off. I got my 2nd biggest bass ever, and the biggets bass that has been posted so far on this thread this year (as far as I know) at 6 pounds 13 ounces. I weighed it 3 times and it came out the same each time on my digital scale. Sorry to NHbassMaster2 and FishingOnTheEdge, but when you guys said that there were no good bass in Hot Hole Pond earlier this year, I did not want to respond until I had proof. I spooked some big fish there this spring during the pre spawn, and tonight I got to find out how big those fish actually were. With an unlimited amount of stocked trout to feed on each year there, the largemouth can get huge. Caught this one right off the boat ramp and after a 2 minute fight on my spinning rod I finnally landed it.

Fished for a little while at Turree Pond today and got 3 bass in total. All three came on a keel weighted rage rooster in green with red flake. It has been seeming to work well for me on these windy days because the fish don't get as good of a look at the bait. Here is a picture of the biggest one I caught weighing 2.9 pounds.

Hey guys, I wanted to share a trick that me and clr9933 recently learned from an edition of Bassmaster magazine. The article I read recommended that if you are having trouble getting a lot of bites and just fished around vegetation that looks good but did not produce any fish, then turn your engine right into the weeds and give it some gas to stir up the weed bed and rip out some lillypads. This stirs up small bugs that the sunfish and baitfish will feed on and that gets the attention of bass. After letting the spot settle for 15-20 minutes, come back and try fishing it again with soft plastics and you may have completely different results than when you first fished it. I know it sounds kind of crazy, but we tried it and it immediately caught 3 largemouth off of a spot we had been fishing for 15 minutes without getting a bite. Let me know if you try it out and have any results.
