  1. Sometimes it does. I've caught 2 of my PB smallies on an east wind tho.
  2. Sounds to me like the knot slipped
  3. Chances are the stripper guide on the rod will be too small for a spool of that size. This can affect casting distance.
  4. Any time I talk rods with someone. Even fishermen, I get the deer-in-headlights stare.
  5. I use 2.5" to 5" tubes with 3.5 being my best producers. As for heads, depth dictates the weight. I cast my own and have 1/8oz with 4/0 and 5/0 hooks, 1/4oz with 4/0, 5/0 and 6/0 and 3/8oz with 5/0 and 6/0. I also have some I bought in 1/2oz with 6/0 hooks. The larger hooks are great for when the fish are just nipping the tails......you still hook-up.
  6. I've been on good smallies on many occasions and not set the hook on bites because boats were going by and I didn't want company. Bent rod pattern runs rampant on Erie!
  7. Just wish I could find my other Chronarch 101SF!!
  8. I regripped 5 Kistler rods for someone using those black/red and black/blue grips. They came out real nice. I finished the butt with one of those rubber disc plug/caps.
  9. Dug through my reel box and found this. I think the gold tone of the body plays well with the green of the blank.
  10. Yea. I watched them in stock for like 2 days. When I went to order, they were gone!
  11. That's some funny stuff right there!
  12. Sounds like it could be a clogged fuel tank vent.
  13. I have 2 in my 17' boat, but if its bad enough that I need to use both of them, I just put the boat on the trailer, go back to camp and drink beer.
  14. Was thinking about shooting you a message about some KBS cause I haven't heard from my distributor. My phone rang right after lunch today...... my case is in!
  15. I have some, but its only because I haven't sold them yet. I did fish some factory rods for a while cause I was too busy building customer's rods that I didn't have time to build myself any. I'm slowly finally starting to get my arsenal built up.
  16. It's kinda hard to tell from this pic, but it looks like some of those high spots are stick-ups. Like you get from a frayed spool of thread. I've had wraps look like a cactus after the first coat of finish. Half way through the spool, it just turned to fuzz. Immediately in the trash. It is salvageable, as said, with another coat. Those hook keeps are hard to cover with 2 coats.
  17. Yep. 5S69MLXF-B with a Stradic 2500MgFB
  18. The powers in the saltwater models are different than the freshwater models. St Croix's MH is heavier than most other company's. IMO, there is actually room for another model between the M and MH.
  19. Lititle experiment for the smallies on Erie. Throw something maybe they haven't seen much of yet.
  20. I still don't know what to wrap it with. Was thinking charcoal. Ight even be a candidate for spring green without CP.
  21. Land yacht towing a boat. Lampe Marina in Erie Didn't make it too far.....note the broken drive shaft. On the Monongahela river. The ghost tow vehicle! Route 70 in Belle Vernon, PA I forget the story behind this one. That happened a couple years ago on Peach St. In Erie. I didn't have a camera at the time, but I've seen a few Amish buggies towing small tin boats.
  22. I picked them up at the ICRBE in February from the guys at customflygrips.com. It is called Tiger Trout . http://customflygrips.com/en/grip-materials/50-premium-burl-cork-rings-12.html#/60-premium_burl-tiger_trout
  23. Mount it after the Y. Mine came from the factory mounted in that position.
