  1. I'm the same way with the Shimano boxes. If that little clear tape dot is cut, I'm not buying it.
  2. Last update for a few days. Need to head out of town to tend to some personal business. Raw grips on the mandrel. Tune back in this weekend, I'm sure there will be something new to see!
  3. It's true. It consumes you. Sometimes it's all I think about. I had a dream a couple weeks ago. Guides were marching in formation like the hammers in The Wall!
  4. It wouldn't be as funny if it wasn't true!
  5. It may be a while before there's an update on that one. I have too many rods for others on the board!
  6. Butt grip and rear grip glued up in the clamp.
  7. Finally got enough repairs done that I feel I can start on a fun project. My buddy Jim helped me out in my booth at the ICRBE last month. We were located across from the RodGeeks. Staring at those candy colors all day must have got the best of him because he ended up ordering a Neon Pink crankbait blank. Now, the Barbie you can understand, but where the lumberjack comes in.....well, you see......Jim is 6'2" and goes 370ish. Hence, Lumberjack Barbie! Blank: Rodgeeks C273MM (Neon Pink) Guides: AmTak DGML MicroWaves Reel Seat: Fuji ECS Cork: Tiger Trout Burl Thread: Fuji
  8. I would use that for a reel seat insert.
  9. Not familiar with either boat, so I don't know what the Stratos is rated for, but to me, 115 seems underpowered for a almost 19' boat.
  10. I have a Croix 2S66mlf2 and a Geeks C266mlf2 (the light blue one) and I can't tell them apart. I don't have any other ones that are the same model. I can compare a 5S610MXF and a C4610MXF, but I would give the edge to the SCV.
  11. Slightly off topic (but not really), Rodgeeks has some pretty good looking offerings. Any of their models can be painted in any of their 28 colors. My rod rack has never been so colorful!
  12. Seems most are just using their dropshot rods right now. I prefer a XF rod for topwater and this doesn't seem much different, baitwise.
  13. I made a decision about a week ago to give spybaiting a go this year. I had a friend order me some baits and then it occurred to me, I need a new rod! I had already planned to build this one as a dropshot rod, but I really don't need another one of those! Here's what it is. Blank: Rodgeeks C4610MXF (6'10") will extend to 7'. Guides: American Tackle TidalWave w/gold ring Cork: Tiger Trout burl & burnt burl Reelseat: PacBay slide rings I really HATE gold guides, but these ones just looked sexy to me, and I think they will pop on the green blank Stay tuned for the progress.
  14. i use uni-uni knot. I hear the knot tick thru the guides, but the casting distance isn't affected. Rods have 3.5mm and 4mm guides.
  15. I don't know of any bow mount motors under 45#. I always said go as big as you can. You can always turn the big motor down, but you can't turn a small motor up! I had a 55# on my 14' boat and it worked real nice. On my 16', I had a 55# bow and 55# transom for the electric lakes. When I ran them together, it was pretty fast. The next one i get for my 17' will be a 101#.
  16. For a weekend like you guys had, I'd put up with a Pats fan too!
  17. Then you and I went out the next weekend and only got a laker and a 14" smallie!!
  18. Ahh, someone else that likes the Aero seats uplocking! I have 3 like that myself.
  19. I've been burnt by this crap 3 times since its introduction years ago. Every time they 'improved' it I tried it again, with much disappointment. Its true to the name, your lures and fish do Vanish.
  20. Planned on one at a time. That's a pretty big chunk all at once!
  21. Any hidden fees with these sites? Does PayPal add in a currency conversion fee like credit card companies do when you use them out of country?
  22. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a couple JDM reels. In your experience, what is the most reputable site to use?
  23. I believe the SCV is of equal quality, but their colors scare some people off. I happen to love them. NFC seems to have am availability issue. While they are quality, IMO, they are old tech. Phenix, I have a hard time forking over a premium for an import blank. Played with an Eternity at the ICRBE. I liked it and will order one, but I don't think its on par with a SCV. We will see when it comes in and I can fish it beside my favorite SCV.
