I have tried making lures lust like those. I made a diving crank, a popper, and a spook clone. I carved and painted them, but never got any hardware for them.

I wanted to go somewhere warm with lots of fish on spring break, and figured it was too far to go to cali, although that is my dream land. I think i might end up in Georgia or S. Carolina. Hows that sound?

I looked pretty hard for our weedy areas, and found these calm pools full of lilys, and some type of hydrila. It makes for great bass fishing, and if you get bored, the carp always bite too. It took me a while to find these areas. They dont get fished hard because you need a small jon boat like mine to get into the backwaters. I doubt a bass boat could go in there.

I use some odd colored worms. some are black with light purple, almost pink swirls. The others are yellow with a green back with black spots. (kind of ugly, but super cool) Also, i think my rainbow colored tubes are pretty effective too.

How hard sill it be raining? With just a drizzle, i like using buzzbaits, and super flukes. This happened just a little while ago. It might have been about 45 degrees, and there was a small amount of rain, but the water was ultra clear. Caught 5 bass from shore on a super fluke fished shallow and fairly fast. On a heavy downpour, use double colorado or tandem style spinnerbaits.

I have no problem bed fishing. However, i will never go onto a bed fishing mission when i go out on a trip. Thats just not cool. But if im fishing around them, and see a nice hefty bass, of course im going to try to catch it! I dont care how big it is, im going to release it. But there is a limit. Im not going to be like whats his name (paul douclose or something like that) and release a world record. Thats crazy, releasing a million dollar fish.

dude, this is my favorite place to catch largies! First, you go to an area away from the river, the little backwaters that look like small ponds. If you find one of these, you can really catch some fish! Not many people target largemouths in our river, and when they see these calm weedy areas, the first thing on their mind is just carp territory. Also, spinnerbaits in deep wood cover always produces.

Am I crazy or did i hear there is going to be a BPS or Cabelas opening in Grand Rapids, MI. That would be awesome, but it would also disapoint me to see some of my favorite local stores like D and R to suffer because of this.

oh yea, mine is 12 inches, caught on a 1/8 oz. panther martin from shore on the St. Joe river. HA! Ive neever tried to catch a smallie, i only had one real fish on, looked pretty descent, but of course i lost it right next to the boat. My uncle caught a 6 1/2+ lb fish during a national Red Man bass fishing tournament, and i guess he had to sit and catchhis breath for a while. Didnt even get biggest fish though.

Do you use electronics to find your fish? I dont have any and would wonder if its going to be hard locating the fish. This is going to be my first year ice fishing.

in-fisherman wrote an article about this a while back. They talked about using bigger hooks, lures, etc. and called it a bubba rig. It pretty much was just refering the dropshot as a largemouth bait instead as a smallmouth bait like most people use it as.

Were those 6 pounders all smalliesout of lake st. clare? I live in MI and have only managed to catch 1 six pounder. Hooked one that looked like 7 or better though.

I was wondering if you guys have to do anyhting different to catch bass in small waters this time of year. I have a pond, about 5 acres, with a huge number of bass, and some monster 7 pounders (hey, they're monsters to me!) During the late summmer and into winter, i can never catch a fish. However, this is one of my favorite times to fish a big lake. The pond's surface weeds are all gone now, and the submergent vegitation is weird. There is one thick weed bed, but most the bottom is covered with a tangly, stringy type weed that engulfs any lure. Maybe a dropshot?

This sounds cool to me, but i better ask some better minds before i go out and dump myself into a lake. How about if i just even out the front from the last bench to the tip of the boat? It sounds safe enough to me.

Eau Claire, MI. A little hick town in Berrien county, which is the county on the very south west corner. The biggest bass i have seen come out of berrien county is 7.5 lbs. But i heard of 10 pounders being caught (Im not sure if I believe these guys though, the state record is 11 lbs.) . My pr (personal record) is currently 6 ppound even.

Does anyone know how i can get started in tournament fishing? I would love putting my skills up against other anglers, but have run into some problems. I live in SW michigan and the local clubs wont answer my e-mail. I am 15 years old, and only have a small 12' aluminum boat with a trolling motor and 7 horse gas motor. I was also wondering how i would get over that problem. Any advice would be greatly apreciated.

I was wondering if it was possible to turn my little 12 foot aluminum boat into a mini bass boat. By that i mean if it is okay to add a deck and everything on a boat this small. If so, How would i go about doing it?

everyones boat is better than mine! It is a 12' jon and has a trolling motor and 7 horse gas motor. Thats it. I would really like to get a depthfinder, but most of my fishing is done in tiny (50-100) acre "lakes" the fish are easy to find in spring and early summer but impossible after mid july.

I fish a lake just like this. There is moss all over the wood structure and the ground is very soft and silty. Sometimes topwaters will work. But my best luck comes on small spinners and rapala originals.
