What do you pull your boats with?
94 Chevy 2500, work/fishing truck. The 350 has 160,000 miles on it. Runs great just getting broke in.

The sissy tube
Would a tube be a good choice in crystal clear water, probably around sixty degrees, full of weeds, avg depth around 8 to 12 ft? If so what color and technique? Going in the morning would like to work on fishing a tube some.

How many #s?
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like 80# 24v is the way to go. As far as being able to afford it, come on guys we're talking fishing here. It's kind of like having kids if you wait till you think you can afford them you never will. The search is on.

How many #s?
I'm thinking of getting a new trolling motor. The one I have (don't know how many pounds fo thrust the small Johnson has) doesn't seem to have enough thrust, it does alright on still water but when on the river I could use more thrust against the current. The boat is an 18.5ft. Stratos with a 115 Johnson. So how many pounds of thrust and which trolling motor do you guys recommend? Thanks!

The sissy tube
You have my thanks as well Chris. Your information is both educational and motivational. What time of year do you recommend tubes or do you fish tubes year round?

Anti-baitmonkey serum
Raul, I'm not much of a gambling man (more of a competitor than a gambler) but for you I'd make an exception. Keepinreel I agree with what Raul is saying as well but you have to agree some waters hold larger quantities of more catchable bass than others. Otherwise the pros wouldn't gaurd their spots like they do or make forty mile runs to get to them. Btw Raul I'd love to fish with you, and most everyone else on this site, I'm sure I would learn a great deal and enjoy the trip.

What do I throw ?
I would start with a white and chartrues spinnerbait myself. Actually we need to know a little more about the lake such as water clarity and water temp.

Anti-baitmonkey serum
LOL! It seemed like magic the evening I caught a couple (apox.) 6# bass on consecutive casts and 4 more bass in the 3 to 4# range in the next 15 minutes. Anyway it was just something I read that I thought had some validity to it. I too agree with what Raul said which I think rephrased is you get out of fishing what you put into it. I'm a much better fisherman now than I was a year ago but that's because I've worked at it harder than ever this year. Another reason I'm better is because of this site. Thanks for everyones insights, I'm still listening and learnimg.

Anti-baitmonkey serum
Raul, to expand on what KU said, I'll give you the best Gloomis rod the most expensive Shimano reel any Luckycraft lure you want and put you on Deerpoint lake (my local resevoir) and I'll take a Zebco 33 and a bag of plastic worms and go to my little pond around the corner and probably catch more fish than you. The point being Deerpoint is really tough and the little pond isn't.

Anti-baitmonkey serum
There are no magic baits, just magic spots. I just read this and thought it made sense.

Barometric pressure
Well, who's the resident meteorologist on this site? When I see the big H coming across the weather map which is a high pressure system does this mean the barometric pressure will be rising? I assume this is correct but you know what they say about assumptions.

Tournament or Recreational Fisherman?
Only recreational fishing for now. I have been thinking about joining a local club to fish their tourneys for the educational factor and to see how I stack up.

Seasonal patterns
Great reply mike. Thank you. Also, you have a cool website.

Seasonal patterns
Matt, Mike, you guys live in pretty much the same temperent zone as me, where have you guys been catching your fish? The water temp here is around 70/72 degrees and the fish are right where I would expect them to be, in the back of creeks. What will be thier next move (deep?) and at what temp?
-
Seasonal patterns
Thanks for the replys. What I'm looking for is more consistency finding fish. This should help. If it were easy I would get bored. Mike, I live in the Fl panhandle and your temps seem really close to what I have experienced here. Do these temps and cycles hold up everywhere just at a different time frame?
-
Seasonal patterns
Hey guys & gals, haven't posted in a while but I have been reading the posts. Good stuff! What I would like to hear is your opinion on what the water temp is when the fish move from pre-spwn to spawn to post spawn to summer to fall to winter patterns. Do you think othetr factors are involved such as length of daylight? Whatcha think?

Going to the shop
If I were in your shoes I think I would get a bag of black 7.5" ribbon tail worms, a bag of watermelon tubes, a couple different sizes of worm hooks and bullet sinkers. I would also get a Pop-R for a little morning topwater action. Then if i had any change left I would get a chartrues and white spinnerbait.
-
Going to the shop
Depends on the money you wanna spend. If you're on a tight budget plastic worms and bullet sinkers are the way to go. From there the sky's the limit.
