  1. I recieved my new spro shad in wicked perch. Can't wait to try it out and see how it walks. Also got a scumfrog bigfoot and have to try that.
  2. I would venture a guess that there are at least minnows and little pickerel (grass and redfin)
  3. You will learn a lot from snorkeling in your pond. That is, if the water is clear enough.
  4. The key times to get a reaction strike from a big bass is as soon as you crank it under, and right when it begins the upward curve towards the boat.
  5. I prefer gym shorts and water shoes.
  6. I agree with the flatfish. Flatfish for bass? Totally unheard of.
  7. Any tributaries or moving water in the lake? I have found in the river i fish, that once the water runs clear after the fall rains the bass completely turn off.
  8. I have had good luck with a frog popper at dusk. Specifically Booyah poppin pad crasher and Spro popper.
  9. Just ordered a bunch of these for a lake i started fishing where i believe the dominant prey is yellow perch. I also got the spinnerbait ones so i can clip the swimbait onto a spinnerbait wire and get that extra flash and vibration. The perch color looks like the spittin image of a yellow perch. I hope these swimbaits/spinnerbaits will call out the big sm and lm. Anyone have experience with this lure?
  10. Good tip on bending the hooks out. I think thats just what it needed.
  11. I like to wake a spinnerbait with an oversized colorado blade.
  12. So i pulled out my spro baby popper yesterday evening. Its in the nasty shad color, a baitfish imitation. I got a solid strike and hooked up. I had the fish on and fought it briefly (enough to see it was close to 4 lbs), and then the fish suddenly got unbuttoned close to the boat. I inspected the frog and only one hook was exposed, the other hook was penetrating the side of the frog and clearly was not able to get into the fish. Then i got another smaller strike and waited and set the hook; hauled water. I inspected the frog and the body was burying both hooks and it didn't look right. So wuts going on here? bad luck, or bad lure?
  13. Thats the kind of lure im looking for, but at that price yikes! 2 of them would be 40 bucks!
  14. Hard to beat a spinnerbait for nightfishing.
  15. Yes i saw those and others on TW but they all have poor reviews. puts me off buying the product. I have also looked at the river2sea step wa frog, looks to have like a jitterbug style lip, however it to has negative reviews.
  16. Would like some suggestions. I want hollow bodies that you can retrieve like a buzzbait or toad. Poppers and walkers are more location specific in the strike zone baits. I want a hollow body that can cover water like a buzzbait and produce on a steady retrieve at night in cover or open water.
  17. Rapala used to make a color called Plum Shad on its crankbaits, i caught a hawg on a plum shad risto rap.
  18. Yes i like my spro popper frog. Its the killer gill color, kind of a fish pattern. great lure. I also got the spro baby popper in a shad pattern, with intentions on using it in open water for smallmouth but i haven't had a golden opportunity to use it yet. I like my black/yellow booyah popper too, hollow bodys are awesome aren't they? I have had my koppers frog for years now but i can't walk that thing steady. It just bobs along.
  19. It is the pursuit of what is elusive but obtainable...
  20. I have been using a tourney special and its great. I turn off all the cast control crap and just use the brake. Its been great for me so far, and it has a 1 year warantee.
  21. I think the problem is that the hook is working a hole in the fishes mouth and then coming out. Getting a thumb on the fish as soon as possible is a good idea. I caught a 3 1/2 pounder the other evening on a buzzbait, i had lipped the fish and when i pulled him up he bucked and the hook flew out. I had control of the fish tho. I also use a medium action rod to let the fish really load on and inhale the lure before i set.
  22. What about deep cranking? great way to catch deep smallies. I like wally divers and rebel craws, also rattletraps deep.
  23. Its kind of an exaggerated perch color scheme.
  24. I like slug-gos and fin-s fish.
  25. Try burning an inline spinner thru the current.
