Bank fishing....
wont catch as many this way- but most of my monster bass in ponds came early and late on a topwater chugger or a zara spook type lure- buzzbaits are also deadly.... my Dad's biggest 8.9 came on a weightless worm swimming it slowly on top... WHAM BAM

Question on very large fish
try a fluke on a split shot rig... you have to gently flip it right in front of the fishes mouth and keep it there a small twitch or two and he should inhale it.... colors- I like watermelon... I also might try a zoom finesse worm wacky rigged...

fish doesnt recover from hookset
whenever you hook one deep- when it doubt give them the hook--- they will swim off and the hook will eventually rust out...

*The Journey Of A New Pond* (Updating Frequently)
I still believe in the bigger baits/bigger fish theory as a lot of others on here do.... I've had this problem and what worked for me was a 10" powerworm and a topwater Zara Spook... I'd also be interested to see if you'd catch any bigger ones on a wacky rigged senko???

fishing from the shore
depends on the weather- temp. and water clarity.......... For me one of the best lures in a pond is a zoom fluke... I like to fish it with a small splitshot just above the lure...texas rigged..... and a senko of course........ you can texas rig this and use a worm weight....... i have found i do best when its a little cooler with a drop shot rig..... Ponds have a lot of crawfish........ try some...... like baby paca craws. Then chunk a spinnerbait..........reel it just a foot or two below the surface with a steady retrieve........ The best tip i got off here is from road warrior....... fan casting........ it works great with a senko or plastic worm to cover all the area..... there is no excuse for not covering all the area you can reach in a pond.............. I like to make long casts and a senko and a fluke will cast a long way...... One day I remember last fall at a small pond i fish wasnt catching much............ decided to try a rapala rattlin rap........ (has no lip) and was reeling it fast just above the weeds and bam bass were crashing into that thing!!!!!!!! (Also don't forget to take blue fleck powerworms..............) ended up with a total of 32 bass and got my line broke by a hawg bass... fishing with my little spinning reel......... Good luck.

Allstar rods
I've got a Team Allstar IM 10 med heavy on my revo stx reel.......... really nice rod.....great feel.......is a tad heavy and I don't quite like the feel as much as the Carrot Stix but its very good for the money..

Chatterbaits
its a great bait my second favorite spinnerbait............ but make sure to use a trailer hook or you will miss most of your fish........ I tried a tip I got off here when fishing got slow, took the skirt off and put a banjo minnow for a trailer......... looked super in the water...... good luck.

Spooling Power Pro on Spinning Reel
I've got power pro on my spinning reel and never has give me a problem......... just put a piece of electrical tape or duct tape on the spool........ then put your line on.........

Zoom Super Salty Fluke
this is how I fish it- cloudy/overcast- I will use a small splitshot above the bait...... and use a twitch twitch reel retrieve...... Sunny- or when I think the fish are deeper........ use a weighted hook...texas rigged..... same retrieve.......... The super fluke jr. in watermelon seed to me is one of the deadliest bass lures ever invented, along with the senko......... will usually outfish any other lure........

Strike king shim e stick
A guy at BPS said how great these were at 2.99..... I didn't believe it but decided to try a pack...... the bass really hammered them- watermelon color on a dropshot rig....... Now I go back to BPS and they are out of them........went to academy tonight and no luck........... if you haven't tried em' give em' a chance...... gonna try them next time wacky rigged and see how they work......

The bass have figured me out
the guys are right..... maybe give it a week or two rest........ then key on the morning bite and late afternoon bite........... The bass should be shallow early trying to feed.......... use a big spinnerbait, a zoom super fluke, and a senko or a trick worm on a dropshot rig....... show the fish something different............ I've caught many a bass on a wacky rig when nothing else would work........... My go to bait you might try as well........a 7 or 10" powerworm texas rigged.......... good luck let us know how it goes..............

Never ready for the big one
what happened was I threw out, hadn't started working the lure at all.... went to get my spinning rod that was getting wet and move it.... and bam... that quick and the huge mossback is adios......... yeah I've had real bad luck losing the gorilla bass but this one takes the cake........... :'(

Skunked - HELP!!!
don't know how many rods your taking but if you have a few you might try this........... first rod- dropshot with a zoom trick worm or strke king shimmey stick second rod- chatterbait- or double willow leaf spinnerbait third rod- zoom fluke watermelon is a good color...... and you also might try with the dropshot letting the bait just sit there 30 seconds before you ever start working it...............

Never ready for the big one
went fishing this morning... cloudy and rainy.... went to a spot I've had good luck before.... threw a dropshot with a watermelon senko.. but my other rod and reel was sitting in the grass, so I was gonna set it up on my tackle box.......it was getting really wet...... while I was holding the reel......wham......I barely held on to the rod... it was a monster, but by the time I got my composure, she had already went down deep in the moss and got off the hook......... Did manage to catch a few nice bass on a s.bait and a fluke..... but still dreaming of the one that got away............ :-[
