  1. Huh?????? They were lucky they did not see the filet knife, and I took them back to the water.
  2. Here is another pic
  3. Made it out to Pickwick yesterday (12/30/07) from 11-5 p.m.. Caught another boat load of dinks (25 or so) and 8 keepers. The biggest was 16" (did not weigh him), and the best five went 8.5 pounds. Caught them on green pumpkin w/ red flake and watermelon w/ red flake brush hogs. Forgot the camera at home, so they had to visit the house and then be released.
  4. Made it out to pickwick lake with my uncle today in the 21' bumble bee and loaded the boat w/ 25-35 large mouth bass (pretty cold going down the lake @ 70mph). Caught 10 keepers, best 5 going 8-9#'s with biggest being 2.5 pounds. Caught most "knotheads" on finesse worms and majority of the keepers with spinnerbait in thick hydrilla and milfoil; also saw a bald eagle. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.
  5. I have only fished the BFL twice as a co-angler. Both times I fished with nice guys who wanted my opinion and asked if I knew any spots we could try. On the other hand, that was the louisiana division and 99% of the guys down here are true sportsman. I do prefish the events because of one word, and every bass fisherman says it: Confidence. What differance does it make if you are fishing in the back of the boat? If a person goes in to a tournament with a mindset of back of the boat equals defeat, then the tourney is lost before the blast off. One final thought, if you happen to get a jerk of a boater, not only do you have to sign in his weigh in ticket, but switch to flipping stick w/ 65# braid and get hung on ever cast, he will get tired of having his boat pulled off to the side hehe.
  6. I have been fortunate enough to fish at least 4-5 times this month. Living in Southeast Louisiana, it is almost never too cold to do some kind of fishing. I have fished atleast 3 differant places and I can say the most consistent bait that has produced fish is the jig w/ a uncle josh trailer or some other type of trailer. Since my father in law lives on a 25 acre lake in Central Mississippi I have also had an oppurtunity to fish it, jig and plastic worm produced fish as well. Some places I have fished (can look them up on flash earth if curious) Caenervan Canals (Big Mar), Bayou Manchac, Bayou Lacombe and the lake in Mississippi called Wynndale Lake.
  7. Hello, i have a small 16' bass boat, it has alot (not all) of the bells and whistles, but one item it lacks is an air/water temperature guage. I have a 1978 monark bass boat with a 55 horse evinrude, it has 2 fish finders, one a hummingbird (which does not have a guage) and an eagle by Lowrance (which truely shows its age). The trolling motor is a "scout" also by evinrude. Has anyone bought and added an air/water temperature guage that is worth the money/affordable? I saw the ones for minn kota at Wal-mart this morning but it looks as if the guage plugged into a minn kota trolling motor. Are any of the ones in basspro, academy, or gander mountain worth the money (and time and effort to acquire them). Any help is appreciated. Bassguy6 P.S. Any price range is acceptable (unless suggestion is buying a new fish finder). I am a college student and I work construction so I am about to get a tax refund check! hehe

If I am correct, I remember you said you were from Florida? If that is so, the spawn should be on the horizon, so I think a creature baits (lizard, frog, crawdad) in spawn location. Hopefully last year after the spawn u scouted out some holes, but if not find them and I think u can find that big momma. My finacee's dad lives on a 20 acre lake south of Jackson Mississippi and last year around the spawn he and his friend caught 2 5lb'ers and an 8 lb largemouth on a black and gold rapala pencil bait, there is my opinion good luck.
  9. I'll take a good ole boy anyday, and if what i read in magazines such as bassmasters, bassin, and other fishing mags, i would say that the SPORT of bass fishing was started east of the Mississippi River, and I don't think anyone can protest that.
  10. For all hard core bass fisherman this may be a shock so take a seat. If a bass has red lips and you think he is eating crawfish, become a biologist, and find out by gutting it. When i was a hardcore deer hunter, one of the easy ways to find out what deer were eating is that after one was killed, we opened up his stomach, just a thought, and if you thinking I don't want to take a fish out of the water (which is a good thing to consider) remember that it is only one fish. just a though god bless
  11. I think i got all of you fellas beat if I may, 4 cyl. ford escort station wagon, pulling a 16' aluminum monark (modified bateaux) w/ 55 horse evinrude. pulled it from Hammond, LA to Logansport, LA (toledo bend) and back. So the check engine light came on a few times big deal.
  12. Hello, i was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to get topographic maps free or for realatively cheap on the internet or just where anyone can obtain one (libraries, archives) wherever. Thanks, any help is appreciated God Bless.
  13. KVD pushing Biosonix Bill Dance pushing Biosonix sounds like these advertisers just caught a young gun who is proven he is a tournament winner, and also hooked a legend to push their product. Good fisherman know what does and doesn't catch fish. in my opinion someone who knows weather conditions, tide, presentation, lure choice and finding a good location should be all an angler needs. take care and god bless
