  1. So was movie maker easy?
  2. my magical baits for power plant lakes are the old mann's jelly worms. Purple with a white straight tail is #1, if that isn't the ticket, then purple w/firetail, anything purple, prespawn or spawn is just the zoom chartruese pepper lizzard. I didn't remember if I said the thermocline is very important. Find the thermocline on power plant lakes.
  3. MichiganBass, Even us southern boys like the 6.5lbers. Was that a Northern strain large mouth? Nice Hawg for anytime, anywhere!! ;D
  4. I got two bits on the magnet also.
  5. I think I'm leagal with the one I bought, It said good for all species including Cat-fish. They have a different attitude everyday we play this cat and string game, like a bass. some days slight movement, somedays you gotta get it real close, other days she's in chase mode.
  6. The surgical gloves I have at work. The others mentioned, where do I find these above mentioned suggestions. Really interested in the seal skins and golf gloves by Weather Joy. Back in the 70's, I hunted with Javelina gloves, very thin, but very warm. I only found those the one time. Justtrying, Should I be looking for a tank top instead? LOL!!!!
  7. I think it looks like alot of things, taking into consideration of the cover, the structure, the depth, and light penatration. Possible water dog, leech, eel, crawfish, small sucker with the tail up looks like the ribbon tail of the worm. When bass fishing, I think of my cat. Some days I have to wiggle the heck out of it to get my cat to play. Other days it just pounces on it. It depends on my cats mood, very similar to the bass' temperment. I have an ultra-lite spinning rod with a shoe string tied on. My cat will hit and start walking down the hallway. Make that drag sing!!!!Best fishing done when not on the water, from the easy chair. She doesn't count on my 10lb catch rate either. LOL!!!!
  8. Any suggestions for keeping the hands warm when worm fishing? 3 tournaments still to come and 2 are in Dec. I have used golf/batting glove with the thumb cut off. Most gloves are too bulky.
  9. What you post on the bottom is what I preach, the 90% rule and 10% of us catching them. The 10% are people like Raul who use everything, science, good tackle, experience, accuracy, and just understanding each piece of the puzzle and how they fit together.
  10. Was it magic that determined one was tougher than the other?
  11. Dad always said "fishing is part in the head and part in the heart". And some plain Luck sometimes.
  12. If you can't identify structure with a map or graph, a carolina rig with 1/2oz weight dragged on bottom is sure fire way to learn what is on bottom as far as contour and structure. Fan cast around the boat and you feel whats down there. Where to start depends on your region and the seasonal patterns. In TX, the shad are still cruising up and down the creeks. Find the bait, and fish won't be far. Untill the lake temps drops, the shad will be in the creeks, but as soon as the water cools down more, secondary points and main lake points come into play. Follow the bait in, and out, and the bass will be close.
  13. Raul, You think like Clunn, are you kin? LOL
  14. Those two wise tales are pretty good indicators. Ever seen the cows go nuts before a storm passes? The deer up moving early before a storm? horses kicking it up? Same as the winds. When the winds from the east, they bite the least, winds from the north, don't put no effort forth!!! Those winds have more effect on barometers than the the west and south. Winds from the west, they bite the best, but winds from the south, their as good as in your mouth. These winds usually signal stability in the barometer, whether its a rising high pressure or just steady.
  15. I believe the term is "loading up the rod" and letting the "hopefully sharp hook" do the rest. I will add that different retrieves such as a suspended lure may require a pop on the stop.
  16. I don't begrudge people for eating what they catch. They paid for their fishing license to. Bass are not bad to eat, they just aren't the best eating fish available if one is fishing for supper. I will attest to the fact that, I have never weighed a dead fish at a tournament. Knocking on wood as we speak. LBH, Most T's I fish, the dead go on ice and get eaten by the tourney staff. Providing the gills have some color left. Not already spoiled. This time of the year, I don't worry about the livewell temp, its okay. During the summer months, I fill my livewell up early in the morning as to get the cooliest water in my wells. I add my live release and Ice as needed to keep my fish fresh and the water cool in the dog days of summer. Most Tournaments, I fish out of a BassCat PanteraIII, If you haven't seen the depth and size of these LW's, they are some of the largest out there. That was my first priority on selecting a boat. Deep livewells. I fish out of a 2004 skeeter that doesn't come close to having enough space for fish. But Skeeter pays bonus money for fishing out of a qualified skeeter. On lakes that produce average of 15lbs stringer on the norm, it works. But for lakes like Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend where 25lb stringers are common, a good livewell is a must especially in the summer.
  17. No ducks and geese flying down yet. That tells a story as to no real cold weather yet. But in your neck of the woods, you will experience colder temps and more often than us.
  18. I have seen the demo, and have buddies who have them installed. C.A.S.T. wireless lanyard sys. A lot of selling points. But I feel if something has worked for so many years and its not broke, why mess with it.
  19. I havent heard from BowJunkie lately? Anyone know where he's at?
  20. The ponds I hit in Texas depending on the size, is usually with finese tactics. the water temps gets cold, the fish aren't as active, I mean they don't want to chase as much, but do feed, a slow presentation is needed. If we have at least 3 days of warmer weather, the fish will chase a slow moving bait better after the sun as gotten up overhead.
  21. This is where the bass are this time of year. Unless you are up north and the shad has migrated back to the deep in the main lake. If your weather holds, they should be there sunday. Some cranks that only run 2-4 ft should work. A rattle trap will knock them dead. Are the shad gizzard or threadfin. 1/4 or 1/2oz trap? black/chrome or a blue back? When not on the flats, back out and find the bends of the creek or find the edges with deeper water and cover. They will not be far from the food source. Some deeper running cranks may be the tichet if not shallow.
  22. The stable weather pattern usually occurs from late May to Aug. Thats usually when a summer pattern hardly changes and you can usually set your watch every day in the same places as to when they feed, the only thing to tweek is your setup and colors ever so often. Colors change because as spring set in, The sun in relation to your region is farther away, as summer comes, sun gets closer to earth and light penetrations changes, thus, the color needs a little tweeking, Rain that stains or muddy waters dictate change. As summer nears an end, weather becomes unstable and so do the fish. Patterns change. Fronts pass, the sun gets further away from your region, and the light penatration changes. As BassHammer said on changing pressure. If fish in the winter time are suspended in 21 ft, and high pressure sets in, fish may drop 6 inches or maybe go as deep as another 2 ft to stablize in the pressure. The deeper bass go, the less the pressure they feel. This is were bass logs can help. By tracking the actual pressures on the days out, what worked, where fish were found. Colors, areas and any tid bit that helps unlock future puzzles. Different regions have different weather patterns year around. In Texas, we will normally have 2-3 months in the summer, that the same pattern is going. A color change, line change, different weight. but the style doesn't change much. A rising barometer and blu-bird sky just means you have to put your cast on the money and deep in the cover on the first cast as not to spook the fish. This is one of the times fish are spooky. Max light penatration, and no surface chop to camoflouge strange shadows like a boat or person standing up. The best you can ask for on days like this is wind to brake up the light penatration and position the bait.
  23. I know I'm talking about one of the top 5 fisheries in the US. Lake Fork, I have to agree with flechero. After the fish kill on Fork, Tx parks and wildlife, I felt was over stocking Lake Fork . Go online and compare the stockings to other lakes that are similar. It is nothing to catch 40 small bass now days, 10-16inch. Before the fish kill, 40 fish maybe averaging 5lbs. It has taken almost 5 years, but Fork is back, not quite to the days of catching the double digit every 5 trips, but I'm catching one at least 8lbs every 5 trips. I think harvesting the small ones is good for the lake. But I'm not keeping any !!!!
  24. YBM, Way to go. I might add, that shows alot about Pradco. Might try some of those Booyah Jigs. You have already started to create some business for Pradco. You may be their next big asset. Hook'em!!!!
  25. We've all heard that the salt content is supposed to make them hold on longer. What ever the reason, they work, and some better than others. Bang Garlic, shad, anise are always in the boat.
