  2. Tried the stuff out this year, had barely any luck. Caught a few largemouth bass, but nothing out of the norm. The only fish that really seemed to like it was the Crappie. I'm not giving up, I'm gonna try other lakes with it. But so far not impressed. The ways I rigged it up were with a drop shot and with a normal jig head. Al Linder on his new TV suggested using it with a crawler harness for trolling, still haven't tried that out. Sounds like it may work very well. As for casting, looking for other ways to rig Gulp up.
  3. Smother it with a pillow, no oxygen right so it has to die right? j/k Best think to do would be stab it in it's scull on top of it's head. Seemed to work fine for me a few years ago.
  4. Carp are pretty ugly to begin with, but that is one weir looking hump on it.
  5. The only bait I have ever caught is worms, to hard to get the other stuff
  6. I got two new reels for my rods and I can't believe the difference. I can cast a lot farther, the most difference though is in the reeling. So much more smoother.
  7. I'd use jigs near cover. I'm a big Berkley Powerbait user, haven't had much success with Gulp.
  8. Over here in lake st.clair we had a sudden die off in the spring time. I never got out in the boat but it seemed like it was slow. Over in Kent Lake the smallmouth population had a big decrease in population. It used to be 70/30 smallmouth, but it seems like largemouth took over the lake.
  9. deep swimming bomber or Berkley Powerbait purple ribbed worm
  10. I use Bomber cranks, they work really great on Smallies. I can't see why the bigger size wouldn't work. Bigger the lure, bigger the fish. You probably won't get as many hits, but you will catch bigger bass I think. When I go fishing, my Dad always uses a Big N. He catches a lot less fish then me, but he always catches the bigger bass, whether it be largemouth or smallmouth.
  11. Spinnerbait for me, I use the beetle spin and it's just dynamite for all types of fish. I use it in spring, summer and winter and always catch fish on it.
  12. Some real big bass out of Erie huh? Still haven't fished it yet, might have to next spring.
  13. I'm defnitely bookmarking this post, thanks!
  14. What's up, new guy here too, really like the site.
  15. It's been pretty slow near me, been wondering what's up with it. I've caught so many more largemouth than smallmouth this year.
