Tried the stuff out this year, had barely any luck.  Caught a few largemouth bass, but nothing out of the norm.  The only fish that really seemed to like it was the Crappie.  

I'm not giving up, I'm gonna try other lakes with it.  But so far not impressed.

The ways I rigged it up were with a drop shot and with a normal jig head.

Al Linder on his new TV suggested using it with a crawler harness for trolling, still haven't tried that out.  Sounds like it may work very well.

As for casting, looking for other ways to rig Gulp up.

 

Were you using the stuff in the container soaked in the Gulp! formula, or the baits that it was just injected with? Either way smells like death.

I've have better luck with out of the bag stuff, that's not to say its helped me with numbers, it could have been a number of things that helped me catch more from the bag.

I have had great luck with the Gulp Alive minnows with Smallmouth, I have not noticed that Largemouth like them any better than any other bait.

I don't use that much gulp.  I plan on using more and experimenting with it next year.  A friend of mine that guides uses it all the time and loves the stuff.  Some elite pro's say if it's a must if your on a smallmouth lake like Lake Erie.  I think it has a purpose just like any other bait.

I have very little luck on gulp as well....I don't use them anymore.

Berkley Powerbaits on the other hands,are awesome.

Depth and speed are first. Then comes size, action, and ....finish/color somewhere down on the list. This is all AFTER location and position are worked out. Where does scent/taste come in? About 2 inches from a fish's nose, or possibly even after it's in the fish's mouth.

The minnows work great. I seemed to have more luck with them in the spring, and i probly caught 60% of my fish with them. I also rig them on a jig head.

I agree... the pan fish seemed to like them better...don't increase my numbers, but they stink too bad, a bag leaked out in my back pack when I wade fishing. Thought I would never get rid of that smell.

the black jumbo gulp alive leeches work for me but not so much with the pumpkin coloured variety...

Gulp! is great for catfish.

Also, on a drop shot rig using the Gulp! Alive recharge baits out of the bottle.

Yeah the catfish do seem to love them, something I found out by accident.

I used gulp minnows - 3" & 4" - and the 5" leech, quite frequently this season. Every time out as a matter of fact (32 times this year so far). I fish it strictly on the drop shot rig however.

Each and every time, I end up changing back over to my ole' reliable Roboworm. And inevitably my catch ratio goes up dramatically. I keep trying the gulp, because my kids got me several bags this past Xmas! But my Robos just keep on ticking!

Now I'm fishing deeper, off-shore structures for smallies, so that may be a factor....although I can't, for the life of me, figure out why? With all the hype, I just expected a lot more.

They worked great for me in the Pamlico Sound.  I caught Spotted Trout, Red Drum and another species I can't seem to name at the moment.  The pin fish were hitting the minnows, too (knuckleheads...).

But like many of you, I've yet to catch a bass with Gulp.

Have tried them once when it first came out. Didn't bother buying them again. The plastic dried up and became stiff. No bass either.

Great for the saltwater fish.  Not so much for the freshwater fish.
