Joined my first bass club last night!
Joined up with the Inland Empire Bass Club last night. I had fished a tourney last September with my neighbor who is a member. The people were so nice and I had so much fun, I just had to join. I'll be fishing as a non-boater since I don't own a boat, and don't expect to do all that well in the standings. I just want to learn as much as I can.

best plastics for dropshotting?
The only success I've had dropshotting was using a 4" Jerry's Best ringworm. But that's the only time I've seriously fished that way.

White-tail Bucks
If you thought those were nice deer, check this bad boy out. I love big mule deer racks. This pic was taken in late July, so he was still growning.

First time trout fishing... help.
I use a 6 1/2' light action spinning outfit with 6 lb test. Inline spinners are a good choice. I like Blue Fox's and Roostertails. Small Mepps are a good choice as well. A real trout slayer that I really like is a 1/4 oz silver Kastmaster. If you're fishing in a stream, cast upstream and really burn it down. Larger trout can be had on bass crankbaits. I caught a 17 1/2"er while smallmouth fishing on a Hot Lips. Hope this helps!

White-tail Bucks
The only thing I love more that fishing is bowhunting. Our late season starts on the 25th and a buddy and I are started setting up on a spot last weekend. We put a trail camera up and pulled the pics last night. There were over 900 taken between Sunday and Thursday. Here are the bucks I will be looking for when we head out.

Hitting Banks Lake this weekend
Thanks for the response Glenn. From what the weather report is saying, looks like it will be a fairly calm day. I'll probably end up throwing a dropshot quite a bit. I won't be able to resist the spinnerbait. I'll give a report when we get back on what worked and what didn't.

Hitting Banks Lake this weekend
My neighbor and I are headed out to Banks Lake this weekend. Any suggestions on what to try?

Spinnerbait/Buzzbait components
I'm thinking of building a few of my own spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, and want to make sure that I get everything I need. From what I can tell online is for spinnerbaits I need blades, clevis' for tandem baits, swivels, skirts, heads, and beads. Buzzbaits I need heads, blades, rivets, skirts. Does that sound right? I think I'm going to go with some of ***s skirts. I really like what I see. Also, any suggestions on where I can get these parts? Thanks.

Your biggest fish.
My best was approx. 6 lbs, caught from shore on a Matzuo Hunting Dawg. The bite was real subtle for a topwater strike. More of a slurp. I didn't even see it since I was watching some guys on a boat messing around with the engine. I heard the slurp then I just felt weight. I ended up getting wet for this fish. The bank I was undercut, and I wasn't about to horse this one up. So I got in the water and landed it. By this time, the guys in the boat were watching me. I hoisted that fish up to give them a good look. They weren't to thirlled. ;D

Good memories lure
Mine would be a little yellow grub. Whenever we could visit family in Missouri, first thing I wanted to do was go to Wal-Mart and get a pack of these to go fish my grandma's farm ponds. It was a big deal the summer that I got to go the "big pond" at the back of the farm. I'm sure it wasn't more that a quarter mile, but when you're a kid, it may as well have been on the other side of the county. We caught everything on those grubs, but the memory that sticks out the most was my first big fish. It was a 3 lb largemouth. I was so excited that I ran back to the house to show it off. Used a bathroom scale to weigh it. Then ran back and released it. I know it lived, because I caught it the next day. Had a little hole right where I had hooked it previously. Man those were the days. The farm has since been sold and grandma has passed on. I hope the next time I get back to Missouri, the new owners will let me and my daughter fish those ponds.

odd things in bass mouths
A while back, a buddy and I were fishing Lake Roosevelt for smallmouth. We were slaying them on the dropshot. After fishing this slough, we left for a while to try some other spots. We returned to the slough later, but didn't get anything. We moved out to a rock island about 200 yds off shore from the mouth of the slough. I land a fish and while unhooking, I noticed one of the worms that we had been using earlier in it's mouth. We hadn't lost a worm in that slough in 6 hours.

I was just curious if anyone is fishing the Frostbite tournament this weekend at Banks? I'm not but my neighbor is. I would be if I had the money.

New member from WA State
Hey Glenn, I've been in Spokane for about 4 1/2 years. I've fished Long Lake many times. Matter of fact the tow pics I posted in the "My Outing" section are from that lake. Haven't fished Potholes or Banks, but I would love to. My neighbor is pre-fishing there with a buddy of his tomorrow getting ready for a tourney next weekend. Wish I was going with them. I'll probably hit Silver Lake, get this tiger musky that I've had follows from.

My 2 best largemouth
I must've gotten lucky then. The 2 that I have work great. One of them sports a wicked scar from a 3 foot tiger musky that inhaled it. I ended up losing that fish at the dock.

French Fries?
I heard they were good on a c-rig, but i'm going to try and tail weight it with a small nail shoved into the tail end. This is supposed to make it glide away from you, and straight into the fish's face. It should be good to get under docks and other cover.

French Fries?
Thanks for the replies. I heard the term on the Classic Patterns DVD w/ Ike. They look like a krinkle cut french fry.

My 2 best largemouth
You know, I have no idea. Figures the day I catch 2 big fish that I left my scale at home. I would guess 5 to 6 lbs.

My 2 best largemouth
If this forum is like anyother fishing/hunting forums, y'all thrive on pics. And since I'm new, I thought I would share a couple. I caught both of these at Long Lake (aka Lake Spokane) within an hour of each other from shore on a Matzuo Hunting Dawg, which nothing more than a Sammy. But at $2.50, I'll take it. Enjoy!
