  1. Remember to use some mono backer on the spool before you wind on the braid or you will swear that your drag is not working when the braid starts spinning on the spool when trying to set the hook. I do use flouro as a leader because I am fishing for walleye and still end up catching smallies too. I use PPro #20 and love it.
  2. check out Hatchett Lake in Saskatchewan. Pike, walleye. lakers, and more. Shore lunch everyday and great dinners at night. You will not forget it.
  3. From all the replies I see here, they will bite anything if you have a walleye fishery in your lake or river. I catch most of my walleye on crankbaits in spring/summer and a 3/4 oz. flexit jigging spoon in fall/winter. I am in West N.C. and it don't get no better. ;D
  4. Tried dropshotting this year for them but never got bit. Reverted back to nightcrawlers on a jig to catch them in spring. What spring tactics catch walleye for you besides crankin?
  5. I have friends where you live that put their boats away also. It must be an awful feeling to see ice forming on the lakes. I'd almost forgotten until you reminded me of the crappy winter weather up there. I left Northern Indiana in 1973 and have enjoyed fishing in the South year around since then. Why not join us down here? The weather is great and the fishing is even better!

  8. I am still laughing even as I write this. You must look like Bill Dance on his blooper video. Keep hammerin on 'em and your luck has to change; some day. ;D
  9. I had my hopes up for this fix kit. Will take a pic too when installed. I find it hard to believe that two Johnson Outdoor products would not work together.
  10. Did you install both chokes before you tested for noise again or did you install just one and test to see if both were needed? Thanks Wayne for the pic. It is exactly what they sent me.
  11. Some item to put in the actual power cord (with and oblong donut) for the motor and a new power cord for the DF with a similiar looking round donut in the cord. There were several ferrite rings too whick I will not need due to not having universal sonar in the motor head.
  12. FYI. I do use Stabil WITH the Marvel oil and am hoping this combination will be as effective as Seafoam. I do know that it gives me the confidence that I am trying to keep my stuff in good order. Now if I could just get to those wheel bearings................ ;D
  13. OK, I have been in touch with Johnson Outdoors and in less than 5 minutes yesterday the CS rep was taking my name and address to send me a kit with the RF limiting devices in it. It came today and I will install next week. I hope it will not limit the amount of signal I get from the bottom so as to make my Humminbird dumber. I commend Johnson Outdoors for their excellent CS and will buy another product from them when the opportunity arises.
  14. I see a lot of you fellas are using this additive (Seafoam), and because you value your equipment you do not mind paying the high price. Are any of you using Marvel oil which appears to do the same thing, is cheaper and has been around a long long time? I am running it in my crankcase oils and gasoline in all equipment. What are your opinions? You see lots of endorsements on the internet for Marvel.
  15. I think so??? Loved it back then, but so much wiser now.
  16. Yes, and I was just like him before I found out that you do not need to spend money needlessly just to feel better. An inspection, cleaning, and re-application of the proper lube will go a long way and you do not have to spend a dime for this in these crappy economic times. There are plenty of other things that are steadily going bad on your stuff that you must spend money on. No offense is meant
  17. This scene sounds like you have OCD. I have two boats with trailers, two tow vehicles, a Polaris Ranger, golf cart, and two homes to take care of and I just cannot spend money like this without a compelling reason. I do not even have time to check everything I need to do. It bothers me too.
  18. This sounds like a challenging project and should bring you much satisfaction when you complete the rod. Great for you.
  19. Is this forum becoming an extension of the immaturity of facebook "kids"? "PWNED" and "OFFed". Speak English so I know and understand what I am reading. I am too old to start learning a new language. :-/.
  20. I have a transom transducer mounted on my new MK power drive v2. I got the mount off the internet and it worked well to mount the ducer. However I cannot get rid of noise on screen when the motor is being used, even with a 3rd seperate battery on the sonar unit. Is there a fix or do I have to purchase a puck transducer? Does a puck transducer have additional RF stuff in it? This unit is a Humminbird 727.
  21. have you tried the dipsy divers yet and "sutton spoons" for those eyes? It works here in the South. About the only thing that did work this year. 8-)
  22. I hope you packed an ultralite with some roostertails and 4lb. test line. Try the trout instead if you are that close to the mountain streams. You will be impressed and they are much more palatable than a bass. 8-) You are are the wrong side of the mountains for me to tell you where to fish in Gatlinburg. However, you will not want to drive much there. Traffic sucks.
  23. Usually, or at least on homes and vehicles, the negative wires go directly to the load. You know, white to white if 110 volts etc. I would certainly think boats would be the same. All negative wires go to the load and positive wires (red)would be the switched wire or wires that go to the fuse panel, through a switch and then to the device or load such as a pump, depthfinder, or a light. Try that. Use a meter of course to check for 12 volts from the fuse panel to negative on the batt. On a meter, red is positive and black is ground or common.

Welcome. Are you sure that is a bass you are holding in the picture? Very Skinny! I am fishing Fontana for smallies. Where are you?
  25. You will really spend some time here partner. Lots of good stuff to read. Welcome
