Long Sleeves, Hot Weather???
I have worn long sleeve Columbia PFG in cotton for years. I also wear a cotton T-shirt underneath. The benefits are you stay cooler and the T-shirt helps block some of the UV's that the long sleeve does not. Ideally I should wear sunscreen but I really dislike the oily feeling. I have recently started wearing a buff style neck and face protector to cover my ears. Like the fella said above a baseball hat offers little protection from the sun. Great topic.

Night Fishing
Night time bass fishing offers the best chance at giant bass and it beats sweating through the hot summer days. As a kid I always used a black buzz bait and caught my top 8 bass at night useing it. Patt Cullen of Georgia has caught over one thousand ten pound bass and also subscribes to the black buzzbait for night fishing. I usually avoid the biggest moons. Another nice bonus about night fishing is that you rarely have much boat traffic on the water. Make me want to go fishing tonight.

Disappointed And Getting Frustrated...
I second what Evergladesbasser said, especially the Senko tip. PM sent...if you do what I say you will be very happy.

Disappointed And Getting Frustrated...
Much of the advice given is generic and too broad to actually put you ON fish. While everyone wants to help out the fellow angler, you might want to ask more specific questions via PM's from folks who you see are posting up good fish reports. I would not mind giving you very specific spots, baits and tactics....but I would not be too specific on any forum board. For example: Blue Lagoon has plenty of peacocks, but how do you target them in a canoe? That place is huge and the better spots are miles from the boat ramp. Lox has plenty of bass, but by foot your probably going to be extremely limited to only small areas near the ramp when there are some tremendous flats nearby that hold extremely large fish. Holiday Park is difficult to catch bass when the water is high, but incredible when the water gets down in the canal. Sawgrass Park is extremely fishy, but some baits work better than others. Should I be concentrateing on the flats or in the canal and should you throw topwater or flukes or what. Ask specific questions for specific areas. BTW, I have an area in mind for you that will probably turn your world inside out as far as bass fishing goes. If your interested...just PM me.

South Florida Canal Help
Alot of south Florida guys swim worms along the edges and I have done that as well with good results. FROGS...... I live and die by the frog. I have no issues throwing a frog all day long in south Florida. I don't care if it's a blue bird sky or pouring down rain. Big bass can't resist the sound of the paddle legs on a buzz frog. Last saturday I fished a major canal out on the alley. I used a frog from kin to can't (for you urban folks, thats kin see the sun and can't see the sun). Hung one of my biggest bass ever for a brief moment. But for the best bass go with a frog...... a loud frog! Go big or go home.

The reason you struckout there is the shock boats are working that canal hard for some time now. Business has been great and the fishing has been incredible.Things should slack off soon and I can start fishing again.

Headed To Toronto For Vacation...want To Fish...questions
I have been talked into going to Toronto Canada to do some in-law things. I want to go fishing since I have a week to kill. Any of yall ever fished in toronto or georgian bay areas? Do yall know any anglers or guides up there that might be interested in hooking up to fish or tradeing for a south florida charter? Any help would be appreciated.

I Like My Quantum Smoke 150 Hpt
I was killing time last week waiting on a friend and happened to stop by Gander Mountain. I saw the Quantum Smoke 150 HPT and as soon as I had it in my hand I knew I was gonna buy it. After four solid days of use, my opinion is that it is an incredible tool and probably worth the money. The positive things I can say is that it spools out fast, it is smooth casting, has an incredibly quick retreive (7.3 to 1) and has a large drag handle. I think the handle is a bit undersized. I have a carbon fiber handle from HawgTech on the way that should complete the reel nicely. I'am looking forward to putting some pressure on the reel with a big o bass to see how the drag performs.

What's The Worst Thing That's Ever Happened To You While Fishing?
I sank my boat in an area that had alligators all over. Took 2 hours to to get enough water out of boat so that we could get back in. The entire time we were in the water we were seeing gators come up and watch us.

Would You Go In?
I have done it and would do it again if i thought it was a slob.

It Had Been A Long Time Since I Had A Hook In Me......
I was out on a charter deep in the glades this past week. We were cutting up, laughing and hauling in fish on just about every cast. One of the fellas pulled a hook pretty good and the bait came back and hit the side of the boat a few inches below my leg. I said not to worry, I have never been hooked by a client. Well an hour or so later one of the clients hooks up on a nasty gar and I ask that he swing it my way so I could get the hooks out of its mouth. The fish flopped and dang if I didn't get it right through the tip of the finger. Now there are alot of places to get hooked, but the finger tip is probably the most sensative part of the body. The point had gone in just under the nail and was angled back towards the finger print. It was buried and the point was not showing. I was able to cut the hook at the eye to get me away from the bait. It wasn't easy since I use 4x on all my hard baits. Now I figured I would just push the point on through and then cut the barb off and push it back out. Nope that wasn't happening. I had two sets of needle nose with side cutters and neither one would cut the shanks. I found another boater who was a paramedic and tried his carbide bladed cutters. They failed to cut the shank too. I was now seriously considering pulling the plug on the charter and going to the hospital. I came upon another boat and he had a sharp fillet knife. I used it to cut away the skin to get to the point and eventually got the point to come through the skin. Once the barb came through I was able to cut it off and back the hook back out. I learned a couple of lessons. One don't say how long it has been since the last time you were hooked. 2. If your going to use 4x hooks, keep a set of dikes in the boat...just in case.
