I was looking at a used Ranger. I have an aluminum now, after reading all the maintenence that goes along with glass. I dont want anything to do with it. I just want a bigger casting deck

I also love the Crawbug for smallie fishing the rivers and streams. But lately i have had trouble finding them. Wal Mart, bps, Rural King an other outlet stores dont sell them anymore. Whats up with that?

Aggresive i use a Rage craw or a Netbait paca craw. Subtle i use a rick clunn Luck E Strike trailer or a bps leech. I mostly stick with rage craws and Paca Craws. Every once in awhile ill use the subtle trailers when im fishing smallies in my local river an stream.

Can you give any reasons why you feel this way?

I stumbled upon a 2000 Ranger R83 today in the local marina show room. I have half heartedly been looking to get into a bass boat from a 2001 Tracker Pro Crappie. This Ranger is a single console with a 150 Merc. The body is in pretty good shape for the age, just the R and the A are missing on the drivers side of the boat. Theyre asking $10,000. But i think i can get it for $9,000. I dont tournament fish and 90% of my fishing is a strip mine where i idle from spot to spot. Twice a year i take a trip to Kentucky Lake and Lake shelbyville, where i would run it hard. It has 120 hours. The boat was garage kept and the carpet and plastic and such inside is in good shape. The seats are ripped but they have the leather to re wrap them at no cost (i saw the new leather). Would this be a good deal? Or hold out until something better comes along? I dont know much about outboards or the workings of one. Also, to get to the strip mines i have to drive on gravel for about a 1/4 mile at about 5 mph, would this ruin the fiberglass?

I dont know how many times me or my buddy in the back of the boat are yanking on our bait caught in the tree and it pops out and comes at the boat at 200 mph.

If you like frog fishing, get yourself a pack of rage toads for $5 and a BPS Kermy for $6. I can walk the kermy just as good as my spros. If you like fishing slop, get yourself a BPS XPS Lazer Eye floating mouse for $4. Ever since i started throwing this mouse in the slop, my frogs dont even make it into the boat most of the time. I prefer the white with red head, but throw whatever you have confidence in.

I pretty much think everything that comes from Strike King will have the KVD name on it. At least if i was Strike King i would put KVD on everything and jack up the price. People will buy a piece of dog poo if it came in a nice package and had KVD on top.

I like the topic of worst things we have snagged, and a few are people. I want to hear peoples stories of a hook penetrating a human. My buddy was shoeless and sockless in his boat. He was walking to the middle to grab his pliers and stuck a treble into his foot. His uncle who was with us is an EMT and had the right skills to safely remove it. This same friend sat down in my boat on the deck and got a treble in his rear end. The hard part was getting it out of the skin and his pants and boxers.

I fish strip pits where the visibility is 10ft plus. A black and blue jig is my go to bait. Iv also caught fish on chartreuse, white, etc. I believe in clear water, its more presentation than color. Thats just my opinion.

They will definately help, helped me in my one outing since purchasing the VMCs.

I own a S & W 15-22 and absolutely LOVE it. My brother in law has a GSG and after about 200 rounds, the thing will only shoot 1 round, and the 2nd round is a "fail to fire." he has taken the gun apart and it still refuses to fire 2 consecutive rounds. Its a shame though, because that was a neat looking and fun gun.

Im in the same boat as you guys, i fish a strip mine that is crystal clear and max depth of 35 feet. I have found some deep snags that i like to throw a 7 inch weedless paddletail swimbait at. I dont get a lot of fish, but my quality is there. The key is "slow." My other option is to find areas where the weeds are dying, i like to crawl a C rigged baby rage thumper, or a black an blue jig with a paca craw trailer.

Great topic and even better information. I live in northern Illinois and my PB is 8lbs on a bluegill spinnerbait. The main body of water i fish is a strip mine that holds bass up to 10 lbs (biggest caught there). I throw a 6.5 inch strike king shadalicious swimbait quite often, and the smallest fish iv caught on it was a 10 inch bass. Iv also caught a ton of bass on baits where the bait is as big as the fish. I think it all depends on how hungry and how much the bass wants to work. My buddy caught a 3 lb bass with a 2 3/4lb catfish in its mouth one time.

I used one today in a small stream for smallies. Pretty much just wanted to see how they worked. I only caught a 12 inch smallie on a zoom trick worm, the hook performed well for the 1 fish i caught.

Finally one winter while internet shopping the bait monkey got to me. I have yet to catch a fish on it, but havent really thrown it that often. Im fine with baits, my problem is wanting rods and reels.

i have the same problem. My biggest question is, and its probably a dumb one. How do I get the boat off the bumpers to replace them? A Jack?

I snag asian carp all the time on accident, so they are definately up there. The worst thing iv ever snagged would have to be a condom. I fish a stretch of the Illinois River where bank fishing and partying is everywhere. Iv snagged underwear, lawn chairs, a bike, a tiki torch, a car rim, countless cigarette packs, beer cans, socks, and a bong. Most treasures were caught with crankbaits. The bucket people haul down a weeks worth of bait, beer, chips and gear. Then theyre so lazy that they just leave it there. Then the river floods and this is the result.

Nice Crappies. I read the topic, then saw the crappies and my mouth hit the floor. That 18 incher would be on my wall. The biggest one iv ever caught was 16 inches caught on a redeye.

I use braid all the time while crappie fishing. I used it because i have better feel, and i lose a lot less jigs due to me having that extra strength to be able to bend my hook instead of breaking the line. I use it a lot of my ice rods also, but through the ice i use a fluoro leader. I use the sufix ice braid through the ice, i cant imagine itd be easy to cast.

My buddy used to have a Trailblazer SS. It had the LS2 400 horsepower small block chevy in it. He installed twin turbos, and totally rebuilt the motor. It dynoed 860 rear wheel horsepower. It ran low 10s in the quarter mile and had a full roll cage. You should of seen the looks on the guys faces at the ramp when we would launch my boat. The thing would just sit there with a loud choppy idle while the turbos whined away.

Im looking at purchasing a S & W bodyguard .38 with the built in laser. Most of my pistols are S & W, so i want to stick with what i have confidence in. Has anyone had first hand experience with this little revolver? I have never shot a hammerless revolver, or a pistol this small for that matter. It will be used for Concealed Carry in the future, if laws prohibit. I have handled the gun, I just havent had the opportunity to fire. If I am satisfied with this gun, my wife will most likely have one also. Any info and input would be appreciated.

I have shot the Ruger Mark 3 and the S&W 22A. Both were very very accurate.I preferred the S&W over the Ruger. Im partial to S&W, so take my advice for what it is. You cant go wrong with either pistols. Both are over your maximum price. I would check used guns for the price range.
