  1. Brovarney Baits swim jig in crappie color pattern with a pearl Zoom fat albert grub trailer.
  2. I have both ratios that i use for jig fishing, and i like them both the same. To me, my rod is more important. Unless youre talking about swim jigging. I like to use a 7:1 reel with a 6 ft 6 rod.
  3. I have never done it, but i live along the Illinois River and it is HUGE here. We have a marina that has a whole bow fishing section where you can practice and such. I lost track of how many times iv seen more bowfisherman out there than rod fisherman.
  4. I dont know of any lakes that hold smallies other than Lake Michigan. But i know the DuPage river has some of the best smalllmouth fishing in the state.

first gun i owned was a S & W .38 special my grandpa gave me. First gun i purchased was a S & W 15-22 rifle. I love both. Have added to the collection since.

Im not an old timer (28). One of my best producing baits is a white mouse with a red head. I have never seen a mouse with a red head. But it catches fish, so i dont question what the bass thinks it is.
  7. I dont own the Hi-Point, but i have shot about 250 rounds through my friends. It is one of the more accurate pistols iv shot. He loves it, and i have no complaints.

I shot the draco a few weeks ago. That was one fun gun.

Picked up my Century Arms WASR 10 AK 47 yesterday. Did a quick cleaning and put 60 rounds through it. I was very impressed with the accuracy of it right out of the box.I wanted a railed hand gaurd but mine showed up with a wood hand gaurd. My local store knocked off $90 and gave me 2 free boxes of rounds. I really wanted the Tapco T6 collapsible stock and it has that, so im happy. My only negative is the stock butt can hurt shooting the 7.62 round. I love the T6 on my AR, but the extra kick of the AK makes the butt dig into your skin. I purchased a $9 stock butt pad and that will solve the problem. Overall i feel its the best gun iv purchased for the money. I got a brand new AK with a collapsible stock, a bayonet, and 2 magazines for under $600.
  11. what trailers do you use with the hair jigs? I use paca craws for all my jigs, but it doesnt seem to look right on the hair jigs.
  12. I personally hate Bog Baits. I bought a variety pack with frogs, worms, snakes, and lizards in it. Its now sitting at the bottom of tackle storage. I fish mostly jigs and swimbaits. so i guess it was my fault or even buying it.
  13. I use a white mouse with a red head and it always gets bit. I cant remember what brand it is, but it is my "go to" bait when i fish the slop.
  14. My PB for 2011 was on the Hack Attack jig, so i have nothing but praise.
  15. Structure and vegetation 1. Brovarney baits swim jig in crappie color with a single tail grub salty fat albert pearl trailor 2. Weightless Rage Tail Eeliminator worked on top (3 of my 5 biggest bass came on this) 3. T rigged rage tail smokin rooster. Open water 1. Northstar bluegill double willow spinnerbait 2. series 5 Strike King chart. sexy shad crankbait 3. Weightless Rage Tail Eeliminator. This bait is just awesome, very very versatile.
  16. i hope so. If you want to send some prototypes my way, i would gladly accept.
  17. yep, theyre for crappies. But a bigger version would be killer for bass. Just cant understand why they dont make them yet.
  18. I love this concept. Obviously if i saw the layout of the lake first, my decision would be easier made. But if i had to go into it blindly, a white Brovarney baits swim jig with a white Zoom fat albert single tail grub trailer, or a Northstar double willow bluegill spinnerbait. I like my chances with either. I cant imagine the second guessing and self doubt in a tourney like that. The Elite series should do something like this.
  19. I was just wondering why Strike King hasnt made a bigger version of there Rage Tail Grub. The smaller grub has caught me all kinds of fish, but all small. I dream of a bigger one i can throw for smallies or T rig and swimg through the grass for largies. Couldnt they make a bigger version without any trouble?
  20. I dont know what color jig your using, but the first thing id do is use a grub as a trailer. If its a shad colored jig,use a white Zoom Fat Albert single tail grub. If its the bluegill colored jig, use a bluegill colored Kalins lunker grub trailer. I had the same problem you did until i changed to a grub trail. Made all the difference.
  21. I fish a lake similar to yours. I have had my best luck with anything that resembles a bluegill. Strike King bluegill swim jig with a grub trailer, Rapala bluegill DT cranks, Mattlures ultimate bluegill swim bait are a few of my favorites. Right now my hot bait is a Northstar spinnerbait in bluegill color with 2 silver willow blades, this thing has been magical ever since i got it.

Last year i was throwing a Bass Pro shops Nitro spoon in the bluegill color. I was ripping it up and letting it flutter back down. I caught an 8lb catfish and a 4 lb largemouth on it. They both hit it on the flutter fall and both strikes were as hard as any bite i can ever remember. The only pain is casting it and constantly getting it hung up.

those people who arent catching fish on spinnerbaits need to purchase a North Star spinnerbait in bluegill color. Thats all I have to say about that.
  24. BPS double dipped
  25. 1/4 oz Redeye shad in Chrome sexy shad will get you a bunch of fish. Iv caught white bass on almost every shad imitation out there. If youre in a area where snags are an issue, a chart. jig head with a white grub is hard to beat and fairly inexpensive to replace. i catch my biggest white bass on fluke style jerk baits. For some reason the pink Zoom Fluke is the best bait i have for size.
