  1. Bought reels off eBay as well. No problems with any. I always look for sellers with ratings of 99.7% or higher and have never had issues. And then, as mentioned, PayPal has some assurances with purchase protection.
  2. The Pro Q is NOT with trade-in. And it is limited to quantities on hand... And unless specified, you can get any reel at a discount after trade-in.
  3. That's it, I'm throwing black from now on. It's the combination of ALL colors, so should work all the time!! Just kidding. Good writeup, @Catt. Something to think about (and @WRB)...
  4. Happy Day!
  5. Very nice, Hootie!
  6. I didn't mind any of the commercials...political or otherwise.... But definitely one of the lamest group of ads in recent SB memory as far as I'm concerned. I wanted Dorito commercials!!! Darth Vader kid and the auto-starting Volkswagen!! Man, nothing!
  7. Niiiice worms...
  8. That's a negative. Got a link/pic? They sound great.
  9. Congrats! Healthy bass!
  10. It's just a phrase for a long-distance cast, just like "in a New York minute" means super fast... But yeah, I know what you mean. So many people use it on the web in fishing forums...
  11. I learned that sometimes it matters, other times it doesn't. How's that for a non-committal answer? I've been out on days the barometric pressure readings said you won't catch a single bass -- but I slayed them. And other days when it said I should absolutely haul them in, I didn't. Color? I've settled on "natural" colors like blacks, watermelons, green pumpkins and variants. They've all been great colors at most times. As far as "match the hatch" ... well, I guess I don't always do that extremely well.
  12. Welcome aboard, Bucky, and thanks for your service!
  13. For TX rigging roboworms (which I've not had a lot of success on, to be truthful), I've used Gamakatsu #1 EWG, #1/0, #2 O'Shaughnessy bend.
  14. Welcome aboard! Carp do indeed make noise. I was fishing a pond where a couple carp were locked wrestling in a mating ritual. Lots of splashes (not saying that's what you were seeing, just saying they're noisy). Usually when a bass breaks the surface it is after baitfish, at least in my experience...
  15. You're opening a can 'o worms here, ya know! You can use spinning for everything if you want. Period. May or may not be the best tool for the job, but you can. That should really end the debate, but it won't. There's an FLW Pro who uses nothing but spinning.... https://www.flwfishing.com/tips/2014-04-22-going-big-with-a-spinning-rod
  16. Welcome aboard, Doug!
  17. Welcome aboard! Sahara is a fine reel. I'm a Stradic guy, myself. I would suggest you try your reel on each rod, if you can - in store - and see how they balance out in your hands. You may find some are too tip heavy, or just don't feel right. They're all good rods, and BPS is having a sale soon. Oh, the Crankin' stick is a casting rod, not a spinning rod. Replace it with the Bionic Blade, and maybe add a BPS Carbonlite to the mix. I have several and they're great rods.
  18. Maybe think of it in terms of the gearing on a mountain bike. The rear cog, specifically. The smaller the cog the faster you will go...but trying to muscle up hill? The larger ring the slower you go, but you have power to muscle up a hill more easily than the smaller ring... Oh darn it all. I think I'm not helping here... I'll see myself out.
  19. Get to a store that has both and try both. Touch them, feel them, put 'em on a rod and so forth. Seriously. You may love one and not so much the other. I've said it before, I went to Bass Pro years ago all set to buy a Pflueger (President, or upper model) and ended up liking how Shimano reels felt in my hands over how the Pfluegers did. Not to put a negative on the Pfleuger line at all! Just that in MY hands, I liked Shimano's feel and balance better. You may LOVE a Pflueger, but do try to touch/feel one in person first, if you are able.
  20. Welcome aboard, Don!
  21. Wow. Some big ladies.
  22. Which means Yo-Zuri Hybrid 6# is actually 10# line The result of no clear pound test specs in the industry. I've got it and use it, too, fwiw.
  23. Glad I could bring a pleasant memory up If I ever have a dead/dying fish on my hands I usually leave it for the turtles, or other critters like raccoons and such.
  24. Well, for the $180 rod + reel pricepoint, I'd go for a Sahara. That's $100 for the rod, $80 for the reel, unless you get a sale or ebay them.
