I personally would not...anymore. I've eaten fish from a local reservoir, but am just not into it enough to do it again. We're just not a fish eating family, I guess. Local pond off a soccer field here always has a gas-like shimmy to it during summer due to field care chemicals. Who knows what flows in to local reservoirs!

Landis, the answer will depend on who you ask... Personally, I was able to score a carbon paddle for $120 from the dealer I bought my kayak from. It was worth the price. Much much better than the fiberglass paddle and aluminum one I started with. Not really sure it is worth it to spend more...but that's me. I'm also motoring now with my yak. So up to you, but this is my 2 cents worth.

From the looks of the picture with @A-Jay's younger self, it looks like it's a break away rig or something. You move the drone to where fish are, once the bait is taken, you set hook, rinse and repeat. At least that's how I interpret what I see in the pic.

Welcome aboard! A bobber stop will help you out there, methinks. @A-Jay is right there, and with his other suggestions. Snells are excellent knots, and I will use them on hooks with long shanks, and even short shanks like an EWG, or other worm hook. Some hooks I've found (Daiichi) do not snell well at all due to the eye not being fully shut or welded shut like other brands. Gamakatsu hooks are great for this. I'll refine my comment to say that I don't snell much anymore and just use a palomar or clinch knot because life is easier that way. If I'm flipping and pitching, it's almost always palomar or clinch these days. I stand by that the snell is a good knot, just not for all applications.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you need something like a M to MH You'll want to check rod ratings to see what one can throw. I'd suggest Bass Pro's Carbonlite series. My MH can go 3/8 to 1oz, while my M can go 1/8-1/2. Other brands/lengths may vary. But the Carbonlite is right in your range and get a lot of great reviews.
