  3. Nice report! UL Carolina aka split shot rig is quite a good technique when the going is tough. Though these days, the drop shot has been working better than anything in tough conditions for me.

  10. Welcome aboard! Never actually had an issue with EWG hooks and soft plastics. But I mostly use O'shaughnessy round bend hooks...

  12. Perfectly fine to stick with what you are comfortable with, Nick! I am comfy with both, but prefer spinning now a days. That said, you can take your pick from the major brands in their $50 range. Pflueger President gets a lot of love, as does the Shimano Sahara, Catana or Sedona, Daiwa, Lews and so on. Really the bottom line is trying to get your hands on some in a local shop, or a Bass Pro, etc. Take your rod in and ask to put each model reel on it to see how it feels in YOUR hands. Good luck!
  13. I've used 10# braid on an old Quantum Accurist, even caught my PB of 7.5# on it with a 10# leader - caught her during spawn in thick slop. But I prefer using 20#. That's just me. You simply need to be aware that, as @buzzed bait said, be mindful of pulling. If I have had a tough pull, a snag, or other, I'll pull out a decent length and wind it back on thru my fingers. Rarely dig in.
  14. That stinks! But from China, things can take forever.... We ordered a hair band for one of my sons (soccer thing) and only found it on eBay in China. 22 days later it finally showed up.
  15. The Hampton, VA BPS still has one for sale, not sure the brand, but I saw it last night, FWIW. I'll see if I can find a link...if there is one. It's BPS brand... http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Lock-Jaw-Gripper/product/2296154/
  16. Good golly Miss Molly that's a chunky smallie!
  17. Great catch, man! And way to do it on light tackle!!
  18. Welcome, Dylan!
  19. I noticed that, too. Might be a seasonal thing as Glenn has mentioned before that some sponsors do it that way. But yeah, interesting nonetheless.
  20. Have you rec'd your order yet? I'm considering an order with them....
  21. Nice to see you still use the little boat Unfortunately, I don't see a wacky rig or drop shot, perhaps my eyes deceive me? Regardless. Clearly a productive trip and I'm only 5 minutes in the vid. Nicely done.
