  1. Welcome aboard!
  2. No, LOL. I tried it once and just felt is wasn't for me...doesn't mean I won't try another time, but my success is greater, obviously, with a normal DS rig, since I've used that so much more
  3. Welcome aboard! Only one rod I own is near that range, though south of $300, $250 ish to be true, so I can't really recommend one north of it, other than St. Croix!
  4. I've seen a jig used as the drop shot weight!
  5. Fan of Cabs and Merlots, myself. Brands? Can't afford expensive stuff, so stick to favs like Rex Goliath and such. Those which don't give me headaches!
  6. Good night that fish is a chunk!! Definitely an over inflated football from the last Patriots loss to the Bills.
  7. I have a 6'6" BPS Carbonlite (black) in ML. Loads and casts extremely well with my Chronarch 50e. Throws some very light baits with ease - like a weightless Zoom Finesse worm and lighter stuff than that.
  8. Very sorry for your loss, bud. I'm 47 and lost my mother last year abruptly to a stroke. Was very difficult. You will get thru this. I promise. Remember her, cherish her memory, think of her often as I know you will. Hang in there and may the Cubbies win the series for her!!

    Welcome aboard!
  10. Can't help you with Arkansas, but seeing it's your first post, welcome aboard!
  11. Welcome aboard!
  12. Welcome aboard! I use 6# line, especially when the bite is tough, and even when it is not! I'll go anywhere from 4#-15# as a leader on my setups. I think you're on the right track with your gear. I personally fish the wacky rig and drop shot more than the TX rig, but TX is a proven fish catcher and AOK to start out with.
  13. Welcome aboard!
  14. Welcome aboard, Mike!

  17. Welcome aboard!
  18. 4" is far and away the most productive for me for smallies, when I get the opportunity to fish for them, same thing...though the Yamamoto shad-shaped worm at 4" far and away outfishes the Senko
  19. Nice! Congrats on the PB!
  20. Floroclear is only copoly coated with fluorocarbon. A good line by my account, but others hate it... Haven't tried P-Line's pure fluorocarbon lines, though, so can't opine on them.
  21. Welcome aboard, Ethan! Nice catch, too!
  22. Welcome aboard, Mike!
  23. Never done it this way. I just bought some of the powder for jigs - you heat the jig up, dip it in the powder quickly and voi la! Nice hard coat. So far so good.
  24. Great outing, Blue!
  25. There are a lot of Lew's fans on the board who will probably chime in with suggestions. I've got experience with Shimano, Daiwa, and older Quantum reels. Are you keeping your thumb close to the spool (almost touching) during your casting, clamping down as your lure hits the water? Another possibility is too light a lure, especially on a MH rod. To get distance out of a lighter bait on that rod, you'll swing it pretty hard since it won't load up well, making you swing the rod faster to get distance, and then a backlash.
