Kayak Fishing
Hey Marquis! I'm among the myriad of kayak fisherfolk on this site. It really can be a game changer if you have been shore-bound, as I was. Actually had a canoe, but it was so darn heavy that I shore-fished until I got a yak. My advice is to start with a price you can afford. You can find a fishing kayak for $300-500 brand new. Realize you probably won't be able to stand in it, though. I recommend Sit On Top (SOT) as they tend to be best for fishing out of. You'll want a good paddle (light) and always - yes, I mean 100% of the time - wear a PFD (Personal Floatation Device). I bought mine at Bass Pro and it has served me well for years. I started out with a $300 (and change) Pelican fishing kayak that was at a local BJ's warehouse. My sons use that yak all the time. I upgraded to a Native Ultimate 12 foot hybrid yak that I've since outfitted with a trolling motor and such. Serves me well. Once you get started, the juices of what you can do will begin flowing and you'll constantly be thinking of how you can better outfit your rig to suit your fishing! Good luck on the search. Oh, and do check Craig's List and other local sources for used kayaks. Sometimes you can find an absolute gem for next to nothing.

Tough game for Cleveland. I won't rule them out though. They've got spirit, just gave so darn much the other night, they just may not have it tonight. Best of 7, I say!

Getting The "itch" To Fish
I get the itch often... When the weather is perfect, good cloud cover, and I've got to drive to a soccer game. Panic.

Shaw Grigsby Rod Butt?
http://lunaseasports.com/store/ They're for floatation and comfort when you fight fish and have the rod butt jammed into your midsection...

This Is A First World Problem!
I suppose I'm the opposite, to an extent, in that I'd swap your expensive rods for reels. My main reels - 2 Chronarch 50e's and 2 Stradic 1000FI's. Rods - BPS Carbonlites with all four reels. Now I do have other rods, including an Avid, but I don't like any of them as much as the Carbonlites now.

Ever Used A Split Shot Sinker To Get More Distance And Depth On A Rooster Tail?
Yes! Absolutely! I bought up a mess of Gremlin BullShot weights on clearance at a local Dick's Sporting Goods that I use for this very purpose. High winds, I'll crimp on a weight - maybe up 15-25" from the hook for a splitshot presentation. Has been quite successful for me.

Best Hooks For Plastic Grubs And Plastic Worms
Good luck with your nursing degree! My wife is an RN, been doing it for almost 20 years now. As for hooks, I recommend highly, Gamakatsu brand. They are strong, sharp and stay sharp. I'm a wacky rig guy, like it more than most other rigs, so I'll recommend either the Gamakatsu Splitshot/Dropshot hook in 1 or 1/0, or the same brand hook in Wide Gap Finesse, same sizes. Bait colors - things like watermelon magic, or something that imitates a crawfish in your waters. Another is Bass Pro's Hot Pepper Frog, a watermelon green/orange laminate. I have a lot of success on it.

Cleveland is looking like they want this more than GS right now. GS seems like they don't know what hit them.

I've also experienced hook dullness with these. They're fine for the most part, but I stopped using them due to having a couple break on me. Never had a Gamakatsu break on me. - Bps Hooks
