  1. mc6524 is right. Make sure you're running your long "tag" end back thru the hook eye.
  2. I'll second, or third, using snaps, and not snap+swivel (normally) I also like Norman speed clips, too. They can very easily be snapped on/off a hard lure.
  3. By "slide" do you mean that the hook pivots on the Palomar knot? If so, that can happen as the knot is on the eye, a round part, and therefore, subject to movement, up or down. Could easily happen if you use a heavy worm or such, or if you get a lot of short strikes which pull the worm + hook down. Let me know if I'm understanding you correctly or not.
  4. Congrats. Caught mine on Wednesday, 3 pounder. First of 2013...
  5. As a Bills fan, I would have taken Romo, but the Bills have a completely new coaching staff, and a different mentality than Dallas. JJ definitely seems to be losing his edge, though. Not sure I would have signed Romo for a 6-year extension, but given the fact they couldn't franchise him in 2014, this was probably his best move for a quality QB. Surround him with better weapons, and give him a shot of "clutch gene", and Dallas will be fine.
  6. Fantastic video! Genuine joy, enthusiasm, and all that good stuff! Awesome. And a lunker for kicks.
  7. Sure, chuck a jig in. Or even a weighted wacky rig. One that you can cast far enough to get where you want. Saaay, wait a minute. April 1st? You serious about this post?!
  8. LOL. I'm guilty, back in the day, of wearing one. This was too much!!

  10. Good gravy! A brown that big? Two words: Gamma radiation
  11. Not bad etiquette whatsoever. A lot of really good things said so far in this thread. A-Jay's experience is much like my own. Someone gave me advice freely, and I now do the same, especially with newbies, kids, et al. Goes a long way with drumming up good will in fishing, and in life. The adage "freely you have received, freely give" comes into play here. But of course, we have to use our better judgment. If you get a bad vibe from someone, you're probably less likely to share much more than a greeting or "nice day". The converse is true as well.
  12. The Ugly Stik Lite M is a tad heavy considering UL to L is common for trout. If you like the US Lite, they make UL models, too. Pair a UL up with a 500, 750, or at the heaviest a 1000 size (which I use for bass). For the ~$40 an Ugly Stik Lite would cost you, other, more sensitive rods are available. And you will find several rods at Walmart which could also fit the bill, including the Trout Ultralight setup you mention. Probably a fine start for someone on a budget.
  13. I'm gonna redo the knot with my OWN name, then. Lessee, the "D knot". Yeah, that's the ticket. Berkely wants all the praise....
  14. In fact, if you hit the myriad of kayak forums (better yet, Google "DIY Kayak Stabilizers"), you'll find a LOT of ideas. Some are fantastic, giving you the ability to lift your stabilizers out of the water for when you need speed.
  15. Absolutely! But I made my own - used Scotty holders, PVC, and lobster buoys. Easy to make, extremely stable.
  16. Nice. Big beast of a lady.
  17. While I'm a big fan of GYCB Senkos, I have had a lot of success with Bass Pro Stick-O knock offs. I've also used YUM Dingers. Like them all, but like Senkos best, the rest are OK and worthy of trying. No harm in saving a few bucks. And if you want real value, IMHO, Zoom Finesse worms are hard to beat. I put these up with GYCB Senkos for my go-to soft plastics.
  18. If you buy a tip replacement kit at a sporting goods store, they usually have a stick of glue that takes place of the epoxy. At least that's my experience. I've heard of using superglue in a pinch... Lately I've taken my rods in need of new tips to a local rod builder. They're done right every time. Not that I can't do it myself, just prefer the quality and the price is cheap.

Fantastic! Experienced the same things with my boys. Tangled lines. Lines in trees. Here son, take my rod while I *BOOM* fish on, kid having time of life!! Great stuff, indeed.

While I have a knock off, I'd second this recommendation. Boga is on my "eventually buy" list.
