  1. You'll be fine. While I am moving away from Quantum, I still have 2 Accurists in service, and they work. I just prefer my new Daiwa Lexa and use it far more than my Accurists. You should get many good years out of the Quantum.
  2. Yup! Always enjoyed it when it aired on Versus. Don't believe it is carried anymore since Versus changed hands to NBC Sports. <rant>Should run it over Charlie Moore's show. In fact, there are probably 10 other fishing shows that'd be more informative and enjoyable than that show.</rant>
  3. I got my first Premier this year - a 6'6" MF casting rod - and paired it up with my Lexa 100. Great combo, quite sensitive. I also bought my first Avid spinning rod recently (I'm a converted Croix fan now) and paired it up with my Lexa 2000SH and absolutely love the combo. Amazing sensitivity, power (and it's a MLXF rod).
  4. That's like the Chesapeake Bay during striper season, only all the dudes would be in boats.
  5. Good stuff! Some nice smallies there.
  6. Congrats! The thrill of a new PB. May you have many more to celebrate!

  10. I'm likin' this the best! No really, I did aquariums back in the day. Too much work. We do snakes, turtles, Russian tortoises these days...
  11. If you're out to enjoy life or whatever, rock n roll! Heck, Fish Chris uses live bait and catches lunkers. I'll use it from time to time. No worries.
  12. Welcome to the forums!
  13. x2, we had a few Daiwa Samurais from DSG for the kids. Sold them in a garage sale for almost what I paid brand new. Good combos.
  14. Awesome catch! Chunky lady, for sure.
  15. WOW! Nice catch! I hope to join you this year with my first double-digit!
  16. Wow! May you all have a great time celebrating life! May your Mom's health increase!
  17. Listen, everyone here probably started out with great expectations whether it be from watching TV shows, or watching people at a lake bringing in a haul. We look on and think of how easy it must be.But I can tell you from experience that it ain't like that in reality. When you fish soft plastics like a weightless wacky or a Texas rig, fish them slowly. Be patient. Throw to lay downs along the shoreline if there are any (fallen trees, bushes hanging over/in the water, etc). Throw AT the tree, the fishes will be there, right along the trunk, or in the branches. Highly advisable to fish a weedless hook here, too! If there's nothing like lay downs at the pond, look for weedy areas, maybe cattails. And consider a smaller worm, wacky or TX rigged (weightless) and about 16" up the line put a lead split shot weight. Cast out, and watch your line as the weight sinks... When it stops start your retrieve, pause, twitch the tip, retrieve, pause, and so on back to you. Repeat. You have to be patient. When we say "slow" for soft plastics, we're talking when you think you are slow enough, slow down some more. As well, don't think a $70 rod-reel combo will save your bacon! You can be just as frustrated with $500 gear as you can with a stick and string. Finally. Consider the occasional live night crawlers. You want to catch bass, you'll also catch bluegills and anything else that likes tasty worms. But the point here is go catch something. It can be a confidence booster.
  18. If it were me, I'd hit it on occasion, certainly not with any regularity. I fish as a hobby, for "the love of the game", so I prefer to go where I've been productive. If the skunk bites me at those lakes, I keep at it because I know it won't last. Just my .02
  19. Welcome aboard, Hunter!

    Nice lookin' jigs!
  22. Welcome, Chris!
  23. Welcome aboard!
  24. Likewise, but in watermelon gold flake for me. A very close second is the wacky rigged Zoom Finesse worm in watermelon magic or green pumpkin with a chartreuse tip.
