  1. True. KC should be good with the #1 draft. Can't imagine they gave that up for Smith. Terms won't be disclosed until 12 March, tho. I'm just hoping the Bills grab the best player available at #8. Scared they may reach for Geno Smith or someone that has great talent, but may not be able to play in the swirling tundra of Buffalo. Rather see Buffalo grab Cordarelle Patterson and give Stevie J some breathing room on the other side of the field.
  2. Seriously jealous. Wish I could buy the PA 12. Tired of paddling (elbow pain) and tired of hoisting a trolling motor + battery around. Rather use foot power. Unfortunately it is way out of my price range, not to mention the fact my wife keeps reminding me what I spent on my U12 a couple years ago. No way in H-E-double hockey sticks she'd allow me to spend $2500-2700 unless we won the lottery.
  3. The Walrus!! Man, I've not heard Reid called that before, hilarious! No doubt KC is better with Smith and the QB master at the helm. They should be tough next season.
  4. That's true, Tony. My new Premier is a M, but definitely a tad stiffer than my other M rated rods. I was at BPS last night and handled a Daiwa T (the blue and black rods) and boy are they nice for the money, too.
  5. Well, guess the Bills will definitely be getting a QB in the draft as ESPN is saying Alex Smith goes to Andy Reid and the Chiefs... Good for him and KC fans. Here's the report: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8995035/san-francisco-49ers-agree-trade-alex-smith-kansas-city-chiefs-source
  6. I never seem to be in the right place at the right time for deals like that. Maybe it's a good thing, because I'd probably have left a paper trail!
  7. I always eyed the Crucial drop shot rod (before the redesign), and the Avid spinning rods, but I could only afford the Compre. Been happy with the Compre's, but I know they're a "step down" from the Crucials and Avids. So if I had the money, I'd probably go for the Crucial.
  8. That's like the divorce cases you hear about when the wife sells the hubby's brand new $80,000 Mercedes for $5,000 to spite him. Smart to not leave a paper trail with a check.

    Welcome to the site!
  10. Which did you get? The Pro Rogue like my picture?
  11. Well, when I was looking at the Rogues hanging on the shelves, the manager (a friend) walked up, said he's got new ones just in. I assumed those were the Perfect 10's, but he said they weren't, they were Pro Rogues, suspending. Now I could have misunderstood what he meant by "new". They were only $4.99, so that left me wondering, too. We didn't have time to chat, so I didn't get to ask him further. Oh, and there's no highlights on the package, no word on hooks, etc. The back simply lists recommended ways to fish it.
  12. Please! And if it works for you, I'll buy you lunch!!
  13. Man, if I had around $2000 for a kayak, I'd seriously consider the Hobie Pro Angler 12 for $500 more. That close, it'd be hard to turn down the Pro Angler. And as for trolling motors, fish finders, you bet you can add them. I made a mount for my trolling motor on my Native Ultimate 12. I control steering with my feet, and rigged a switch box for FW/Reverse speeds. And I also made a mount for my fish finder. The Pro Angler doesn't really need a motor as your feet do all the work. But you can get a specially made trolling motor from Torqueedo http://www.hobiecat.com/kayaks/accessories/evolve/. It's a beast.
  14. Well, for the record, there's at least one place inline spinners don't work - Harwood's Mill Reservoir here in VA!
  15. Hey all, just picked this up tonight at the Hampton BPS. They were just about to start stocking them and I grabbed one off the cart per the fishing manager's recommendation. Picked the Blue back herring color. Anyone fished these yet? Any tips?
  16. Unfamiliar with either of these, but I'll keep my eye out when I'm in that neck of the Virginia woods. There are a lot of micros out there that brew some good beer. Although beer tends to give a man a gut he ain't proud of, LOL.
  17. Big fan of Guinness Draught, too.
  18. Very interesting....
  19. Cheap FC I that I have liked the most is probably XPS fluorocarbon. Also found some some Seaguar Red Label but don't tend to use it much. Not sure why, to be honest.
  20. That's a neat little kit. I have organized stuff like this over the years, but inevitably, things get pulled out and the kits fall apart. But I do use the same type of bag for toting stuff around if I'm riding a bike to a local dock with my boys.
  21. It is a rare thing for me to throw a Carolina rig. I've honestly not fished it enough to say it's awesome. Other techniques do better for me like mentioned above, drop shotting, jigs.
  22. You'll get responses from both sides of the fence (Shimano, Abu). Both are good reels with plenty of fans. So let me suggest the Diawa Lexa!!
  23. I'd suggest you hit BPS and talk to one of the sales folks - the Fishing manager if possible. Explain your situation and what you have to spend. That said: my .02 is this. Of the rods you mention and the money you have to spend, the Shock is a good rod and gives you money left over for other needs. OR, I also like the Daiwa T....
  24. Good to know. One of my Compre's I ordered online via Hi's Tacklebox Shop and it was shipped in a super thick tube in perfect shape. Was pretty pleased with the whole process.
  25. That takes the guesswork of how many yards to put on. I like it.
