  1. I know there is not enough parking off road for that many, but they do park along the road also. When you leave the launch area, I believe you would go to the right and all the way down to the area that has all the stumps. I haven't fished it in a few years but my friends have and they do well with jigs.
  2. I'm guessing the towing weight is under 2000 lbs. Your Ram will tow fine. Personally, I would not buy another truck just to pull a boat. As long as you are within the recommendations, you'll be safe. I remember Chevy's S10 pick up with the 2.0 four cyl. I knew a guy who pulled a bass boat with it for years.
  3. I am using a Castaway SB2 for spinnerbaits. It is 5'9" and will take up to a 1/2oz lure.
  4. Larry, I had a 6'8" St Croix and the tip is very soft. It is Extra Fast and was not recommended for worm fishing. I would go MH Fast action. Also, the Tierra is a nice reel but if you look around, the TD Advantage is on sale for $119. I think Gander Mtn and ***. My buddy has 2 or 3 CI4's and had bail spring problems.
  5. Don't know if you bought a crankin' rod yet but I use a St Croix Avid MHM 6'6" cranking rod. I think the Avid series of crankbait rods are some of the best out there. I am talking about the graphite series, not the glass rods. Check them out. BTW, I owned a Team Lews reel and it was awesome. Only reason I sold it was to buy a Pflueger Patriarch XT to match up with my Dobyns Champion rod. ( I regret selling it) I just bought a Lews TP 7.1 and have yet to use it. The Lews, Pflueger and Abu Revo reels are all built by Pure Fishing (AKA Abu Garcia) in Korea. I believe the Quantum Smoke is also made there, but don't know for sure.
  6. I've looked at the Savvy series and they are a nice rod for the money compared with other brands. I own a Champion Series rod and plan to buy another soon.
  7. Bought a couple of River2Sea frogs, (similar to the Spro) and have yet to actually catch a fish on one. I've lost a lot, but can't get the hookset. I've never had a problem with my Snag Proof rats. I guess I'll just keep trying.
  8. Even with the warm temps, I would try a jerkbait or topwater. Looks for breaks, turns, curves, etc. Fish them thoroughly. Any unusual looking area is a good bet. Ripples or swirls in the water may be some rock piles which you would want to fish.
  9. Awesome fish! Nice work, that is truly a memory!
  10. The XT is basically the same reel as a Premier. They come out of the same Korean factory along with the new Team Lews and Lews Tournament Pro. Cosmetics are the differences.
  11. polycarbonate are much lighter than glass. As far as tint goes, amber is better on cloudy days. Gray is better on sunny days. I've never had blue mirror lenses but I think they are the sharpest of all lenses. Take a look at Maui Jim's. They make top notch sunglasses. They also put an anti reflective coating on the inside of their lenses. This keeps the reflection of the sun down when it is behind you. It really helps during dusk when the sun is low and to your back. My prescription glasses have it.
  12. Phil, a couple of things. First. the Cumara you bought from them. There is no balloon charge from NC to CA. In fact, it cost more to ship Parcel Post than Priority. Secondly, about shipping costs, a lot of sellers figure in the costs like packaging, fuel, time etc. One thing that gripes me is BPS and Cabelas. For instance, you buy a $50 reel and shipping is $7.95. buy a $300 reel and shipping is $16.95. They charge $9 more because the reel cost more, not because the shipping is more. Getting back to E Bay, I was going to buy a couple of reel covers from E Bay but the shipping is $3 for one and $5 for two. A reel cover weighs about 2 oz, the cost to ship two reel covers in a padded envelope should cost less than $3. Why should I pay an extra $2? So, as I would recommend to you, don't buy from them if you don't like the shipping costs, I know I won't. But remember this when you buy something from the Big box stores that charge you according to the cost of the purchase and not the actual cost of shipping. BTW, for all of you that shop with Cabelas. If you call customer service and complain about the shipping charges, they'll ship your order for a flat $8. I did this with a rod that they wanted $26 for shipping.
  13. When you do start throwing jigs I would recommend the Chompers 5" unskirted twin tail grub. It is a great trailer.
  14. You need to like the style of the Cumara to really like the rod. I do see a lot of Cumaras for sale and very rare to see an Avid on a for sale forum. There is a reason for it.I would say more people are happy with their Avids.
  15. Brent, if you are interested, I have a couple of rods that would suit your purposes, very reasonable. Shoot me a PM if interested. AL
  16. Should have bought the $20 fruit cake ;D
  17. Wait until you catch some 4+ bronzebacks! And my buddy's 5
  18. I remember when Ron Franklin hosted a fishing show on ESPN and Penny Berryman was always one of the regulars. I met her at a fishing show in Mass one year, doing a seminar. I thought for sure she would have her own show. What was the name of that show on ESPN?
  19. I bought a bunch of LC pointers this year and the one that worked best was my 112 Slender pointer. The 78 and 100's were duds.
  20. I had 2 Revo SX's a couple of years ago and could not get used to the quick spool. I had a lot of overruns. If you like the Revo SX, then I would stick with them. IMHO. They are both good reels. The Revos are very well built reels.
  21. This is Big Al and Yes, I have 2 Serranos. They are excellent reels. They cast smooth and the drag is top notch. I would put them up there with a Curado and Fuego. My only complaint is the small knobs which is what TT said in their review. I'm getting used to them though. One thing about the brake adjustment. There are settings on the spool numbered 2,4,6,8, and there is a notch that it sets in when you adjust the braking. TT review said there are 8 settings but actually there are 4 settings. The notches are at the 2,4,6,and 8 settings. There are no odd number settings, hence 4 positions. I also recieved my $30 rebates already. Bought mine from an E Bay store for $139. I actually bought the Cayenne but the seller sent me a Serrano and told me to keep it rather than sending it back. Good deal! I believe the Cayenne is selling under $100 right now. I don't think you'll find a better reel at its price point.
  22. I know this is probably too late, you're already there. For years my buddy and I would go to the Q every Memorial Day weekend. Although they probably have spawned. you will catch smallies. I don't know what gate you are going out but if you know where Russ Mtn is, fish the South side of it. You can also fish the east and west sides of Zion, as you go through the Pass.
  23. Spent 5 days fishing Seymour, Memphremagog, Echo, Derby. Here's a 5 lb'er and a laker. Fishing was slow though.
  24. Stan, I also agree with you. I've been told that you don't want to let the fish fight too long though because it will wear them out so much it will leave them vulnerable and weak when you release them.
