Recommended uses for 7' ML casting rod?
It's funny you ask because I just purcased a E21 Gold Carrot stik 7' ML and put a Orange Amber Daiwa Pixy on it. It is a deadly senko, fluke, and shakey head rod. You can feel every little bump and gravel on the bottom. The best part about it is the weight. This thing feels like you are holding nothing in your hands. My suggestion is buy a pixy then call Smooth Drag and get the drag upgrade mount it on that rod and you will have a killer combo.

PFD Discussion
I wear an inflatable all the time but a word of advice from experience. If you buy one go for the more expensive one that doen't inflate with moisure alone and has the hydrolic pressure sensor. The cheaper auto inflatables will inflate in you storage boxes when the humidity gets high like during a heavy rain and inflate which will then scare the crap out of you. Oh and they are almost impossible to get out till they deflate some.

Revo Drag Upgrade and Service
The point of feathering a reel with your thumb seemed to me because the reel was incapable of producing enough drag that was smooth enough not to break the line. This might have been ok in 1950 but with the products we have today why would you have the want or the need to do it. If I spend 300 or 600 on a reel and I have to thumb the spool to keep the drag from slipping I would be P*#@ed. If you have the chance to improve a product, why not? All sports equipment has improved over the years in every sport. I don't think you'll see Tiger hitting a leather ball full of boiled feathers or Nascar racing on Bias Ply tires that they shaved the tread off of in the barn. Do you? I say make your equipment function as well as you possibly can that way when you loose a fish you can't blame it on the reel. JMHO

TW REEL DEMO
If you are buying a $100 dollar reel it probably isn't worth it but if you are choosing between 4 reels that are $300 each you can try all of them out for $20 vs paying $1200 to get one of each to try. It seems like a no brainer to me. I wish I had done this before buying some of the reels I have. I finally have them to fishthe way I like but it has taken an additional $100-$150 per reel to upgrade the drag and bearings to get the feel I like when I could have just bought a different reel and got the same thing out of the box.

What are you most happy about that you added to your boat?
Just a warning: I have one of these and it has cost me alot more than my boat ever thought of costing. By the way apparently these depreciate alot too because if you try to trade one in you may have to pay on it for years even though you no longer have it in your possesion. ;D

Mask
Save Phace makes a paintball mask that looks exactly the same. The difference is the mask for boats doesn't have air vents in the face area and the seal around the eye area is closed cell foam instead of a light open foam. This makes no difference in the summer but if you fish when the temps are below 30 and you're running 70mph vents are BAD. I looked a few options and I think the Save Phace is by far the best.

Revo Premier 2010 vs. Revo STX vs. Daiwa Zillion vs. Shimano Curado
Boy this really proves what I said about you have to decide what feels best to you. 3 responses and three different picks. I think it is best to fish them then decide. I would hate to spend $200 to $300 on a reel then decide it wasn't what you wanted.

Revo Premier 2010 vs. Revo STX vs. Daiwa Zillion vs. Shimano Curado
I can give my opinion on the Revos and Zillions because I have both. They are both excellent reels but I like the zillion better than any of the Revo line. They just feel better in my hand when I palm them. I think the best thing to do is get a demo from TW and fish each of them then decide. I have not bought a curado because as soon as I picked it up It just felt too big in my hand. As I said before they are all quality products but nobody can tell you what will feel best to you.

Mask
Only in cold weather if you wear glasses like I do. Oh and it's not the mask that fogs up it's the glasses. The lenses on the masks are very fog resistant.

Mask
I keep 2 Save Phace masks in my boat all the time. They are great in the winter but they also are a forehead saver when a down pour comes and you need to head to a new spot. I wouldn't fish without them.

Optima Battery VS. Acid Battery ( Life Span )?
I guess I am on the opposite end of that. I have 3 optima's in my boat and have never had an ounce of problems. I may tommorrow but for now I love them and they seem to stay charged on the trolling motor longer than the Interstates I replaced.
