Revo Premier 2010 vs. Revo STX vs. Daiwa Zillion vs. Shimano Curado

Recommended Posts

Which of these reels is the best with price not being an issue? I already have a Revo STX and love it, but i was maybe looking for something a little lighter.

I just recently bought the stx, but I was going to get the curado but didnt like how it palmed in my hand. The lightest reel of the ones you mentioned above is the Abu Garcia Revo Premier.

Zillion: 7.1:1 (8.8oz) 6.3:1 (8.6oz)

Curado e7: 7.6 oz.

premier: 6.7 oz.

I can give my opinion on the Revos and Zillions because I have both. They are both excellent reels but I like the zillion better than any of the Revo line. They just feel better in my hand when I palm them. I think the best thing to do is get a demo from TW and fish each of them then decide. I have not bought a curado because as soon as I picked it up It just felt too big in my hand. As I said before they are all quality products but nobody can tell you what will feel best to you.

I have the same background, Revos, TD Z 103s and Zillions.  I found the Revo closer to the TD Z 103 than the Zillion to the TD Z 103 and prefer the Revo.

Shimanos, ehh, nothing to write home about.

I have both the STX and Curado 200E7.

The CU200E7 is one of the finest reels

Shimano has ever produced. If this is

your choice, you will be very pleased.

8-)

Boy this really proves what I said about you have to decide what feels best to you. 3 responses and three different picks. I think it is best to fish them then decide. I would hate to spend $200 to $300 on a reel then decide it wasn't what you wanted.

Of the three left in the list, its really six of one, 1/2 dozen of another. They're all well made reels. The Premier is light, the Curado represents one of the better values, and the Zillion is built like a tank, and features on of the best braking systems in the biz.  Out of those, I own Zillions.

I use the curado, it works very well and I find them for $125 +/- on ebay with some watching.

If money isn't an issue I'd buy the Zillion. Very nice reels, and I think they palm (for me) better than the other two.
