  1. I used a Shimano Symetre 2500 with it which I used for tossing light tackle inshore. It worked perfectly, and the rod surprised me with how sensitive the tip was, but at the same time, had enough back bone to drive the hook set...I love that rod!
  2. If you recall, I previously did a post requesting feedback on a spinning rod so I could use different techniques for soft plastics. I made a decision and purchased a G Loomis Mossyback 6'8" spinning rod with a extra fast taper, and took it out today to give it a whirl. It was in the low 70's, and the water temperature was 66 degrees at launch time which was 8:00 a.m., and only rose 2 degrees at 10:00 a.m. I was on the water for four hours, and it drizzled on me for 3 of them! I decided I was going to use the "wacky" rig technique. I rigged up with a 7" Lake Fork Trophy Lures Hyper Worm in watermelon flake, and combined it with a Lake Fork wacky rig and weight system: I began to work the weed lines, and before you knew it, the d**n rig worked: A few casts later, and I caught his twin: I actually thought for a moment that it was the same fish, but a red sore on the belly of the second fish assured me that I actually caught two fish off of the same weed line. I then decided to work the lillies: ...and the rig worked there too: I finally decided to head in, but before I did, I just wanted to hit a sunken tree near the ramp just in case...and what do you know: It was great to get back on the water after a busy holiday work schedule, and the "wacky" rig worked out nicely for me producing larger fish than I normally post...Tight Lines!!!
  3. I appreciate the offer, but maybe I should have been more clear...I actually have $350 in Bass Pro Gift Cards.
  4. Hey Guys...I am looking at some G-Loomis and Shimano rods for tossing soft plastics (worms) for Bass. Which Shimano or G-Loomis rods have you used and would recommend??? I appreciate any input you folks have!!!

  8. The Florida Bass Paddlers will be holding their inaugural meeting this Saturday, 12/11 at 6:30 p.m. at Dick's Sporting Goods at 8821 Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Florida Bass Paddlers was formed to promote the sport of kayak, canoe, (or any paddling type craft) bass fishing in Florida. We welcome anyone who is currently a kayak or canoe angler, or anyone who has an interest in becoming one. This club is a no cost club which will feature monthly bass outings in various locations, as well as quarterly tournaments. We also strive to promote kayak angling fellowship throughout Florida. Hope to see you there!!!
  9. Very Funny! ;D on another note...Local 7 News just reported that we should expect weather to be in the mid 50's for awhile! >
  10. I launched at 7:00, and although the weather was nice out, the wind gusts of 7-10 were enough to maker things a little difficult. With a chance of rain, I decided that I would at least get a few hours on the water. I hooked up early and caught this guy on the Sebile Spin Shad: After a while, and not much going on, I decided to paddle while trolling a Yo-Zuri lipless crank. Well, to my surprise: It was tough out there today, and there seemed to be more boats out on a weekday than what I am used to. So, I decided to beach the yak, re-tie some new lures, and use the restroom. While doing my business, something above me was gesturing wildly and wanted me out of his turf: So I oblige and relocate to the other side of the little island. I was not welcome there either: I decided to head in as I was beaten badly by the Bass today, but a few casts at the dock yielded more salt to the wound as I caught another baby Bass: Oh Well...One Day...That lunker will pay me a visit!!!
  11. Anyone use a worm binder, and if so, which one do you suggest?
  12. Thanks for the spots Guys! I will be sure to check out a few of the locations you gave me, I just was not sure as to where I could launch my kayak.
  13. Hey Folks...I was looking for a place in South Florida where I can legally launch a kayak and fish for Peacock Bass! I am not looking for anyone to give up their honey hole, just somewhere to catch them even if they are small. I appreciate any info you folks could provide...
  14. I woke up an hour after I wanted to, but still made it to the launch by 7:00: The lake was like a mirror, and I as unloaded, I felt that familiar shake in my knees...after all these years, Bass fishing still excites me! I hit the water, tie on a Sebile Spin Shad, and hit the drop offs. Within a few casts, this little guy decided to pay me a visit. He was small, but had great color: A few minutes later, his bigger brother shows up: At this point, I thought it was going to be an unbelievable day, turns out, I was partially wrong as I lost the next 7 fish right at the boat! Why I asked...the lure is too small! The Sebile Spin Shad is a fantastic lure which has caught some fish for me, but it's downfall is the very small size of the bait, as well as the 1 treble it has. So I take a few moments, tie on a Cultiva SP Jerkbait in Perch color, and I head to a shoreline of lilly pads. I noticed that the pads are in shallow water, but slowly drops off to 9 feet. So I back the yak up, cast right at the edge of the pads, and work that bait right down the drop off. Well, I guess I was right about the small hook, as I was in the Bass again!: Not much size to them, but a lot of fun to catch. 6 to the yak, lost 7, but I will definitely be going back ASAP!!
  15. Hey Folks...Kicking the idea around about a South Florida Kayak Bass Fishing Club... Any interest out there?
  16. It seems like smaller business's are not surviving the economy. It is a shame to hear when places like this close.
  17. >What is wrong with my username? ;D
  18. You came to the right forum! These folks know the in's and out's of Bass Fishing...Welcome!!!
  19. Thank You! The ruler is a Hawg Trough, which I purchased at Hook1. It really shows up nicely in pictures.
  20. Well, finally I was able to hit the water after about a month. I headed out for Lake Ida and was on the water at 6:45, and fished until 10:00. The bite was slow as I was only able to hook this guy: Caught him right along the weed line: I lost another about the same size a little while later. I threw everything I could, the only lure producing the fish today was a Yo-Zuri Rattle Vibe in Baby Bass, the same lure I used last time in this very same lake. I think it reached 93 degrees today. Well, at least I boated one and was able to try out the new camera (Canon 110 Power Shot). I am glad to have gotten out, and at least had some company on the water: Tight Lines!
  21. I am also thinking that Bass would be photographed and released. The fish would be based on length.
