Just purchased a Quantum Tour KVD 7' 10" MH rod for deep crankbaits. Will be throwing 5XD's and 6Xd's. Now I just need a 5.3:1 Gear ratio reel to set it all up. Can't get my hands on the rod for another week or so because it's a Birthday present. Can't wait to unpackage it! Good luck with your choices!

I am planning on throwing 5XD's 6XDS and other deep divers on this reel will that effect it?

How critical is it to have a 5.3:1 gear ratio reel when cranking? I have a 6.3:1 right now for cranking and I'm wondering if I should get a 5.3:1 Thanks!

What do you all think about the Quantum Tour KVD 7' 10" rod? It comes in two actions, Meduim and Meduim Heavy.

Looking to get a 7' 10" crankbait rod for Christmas but I'm wondering what action I should get. A Medium action or a Medium Heavy? I want to throw big 6XD crankbaits and the 5XD. What would be the best action?

I have a 7' Medium action spinning rod that I use now. I only have one spinning combo and I would like to add another. What actions do you recommend most? I'm fine with either a shorter rod or a longer rod just need some feedback on what might be best. Thanks!

What kind of depths would you all fish during the winter in a power plant heated lake?

I have a power plant lake near where I live and I would like to fish it during the winter. The lake is primarily deep with some shallow flats. I would like to fish jerkbaits off of the points and near the hot water discharge. What depth jerkbait should I use and what brand? Thanks!

I have the same reel and rod, but not as a combo. I have the SL100SPT on a 7' MH smoke and a Catlayst Pt on the 7' 4" H rod. Love the smoke rod and reels and hope to add the smoke spinning at some point. Good luck with your froggin trip!

I have the Tour KVD 7' 2" MH XF. Love it and it casts kvd 1.5 a mile.

When do the bass start to move off shore for the winter? Do they stay shallow for a while during the fall and move out in December or earlier? Thanks!

Does anyone own a pair of Under Armour utility gloves? Looking for a nice pair of gloves for winter fishing, but aren't very thick gloves. Enough to be able to hold the rod comfortabley. Thanks for any feedback!

Quantum Smoke 7' MH. Lightest and most sensitie rod I have ever felt.

Like Lesley said the Raliegh area is better for Largemouth and crappie. There are plenty of very nice large lakes around Raleigh, like Shearon Harris, Jordan Lake, Falls etc. Smallmouth fishing is better back West past Winston Salem and Southwest into Asheville. Lake James has smallmouth but it is a very clear lake and it is hard to catch smallies. Jordan Lake has stripers but we had a lot of them die this past summer with the temperature exceeding 100 degrees many days out of the summer.

Just received my Quantum Smoke today. Lightest, farthest, and smoothest baitcast I have ever used. Great price for such a great reel. I have it on the Quantum Smoke rod. This combo is insanely light. Love it! Going to buy a few more smokes sometime.

I recently found a Mann's Baby 1- that has a lot of paint knicked off of it and needs a new paint job. Wondering what kind of paints I can use that will stay on the lure fairly well and are pretty cheap? Thanks!
