  1. Assumiming you live in the lexington area you you have elkhorn creek when it warms a bit. It is a great place to wade for smallies 15+ inchers aren't uncommon. You have Laurel, Cumberland, and Dale Hollow to the south. These 3 lakes all have trophy smallmouth potential, heck the world record came from Dale. Laurel is the closest, about 70-80 miles straight down I75 (from lexington) in the london/corbin area. Cumberland is approx. 1.5 hrs. from lex in the somerset area and Dale is another 45 miles due west of somerset down ky 90, which is a good road. Also woods creek lake has good smallies and is a little closer, it lies mostly in rockcastle co. I think.. To the east you have Cave Run in the morehead area (my home waters), about 60 miles from lex just off I64. Cave run is where I caught the smallmouth in my pic here, a 6lb. 4 oz bulldog in november. Good luck and welcome back!
  2. thanks alot guys. I guess I need to do some quick study on Rodman. I just have 1 concern. 1. it is a projected 14hr./850 mile drive. So Guntersville>Eufaula??? Whats the word on Lake Seminole?? What about the panhandle/far north florida lakes like Jackson?? Thanks again for the info
  3. Smallish lake at approx. 700 sq. acres. Most of the bottom is flooded farm/pasture land thus very fertile. Loading ramps are great, all 2 of them. TONS of structure from rip rap, road beds, traintracks, flats, and tons of standing timber particularly in the upper end of the lake. The only knock I have is it can be very crowded, stay away on weekends if possible. Went there last year, my buddy caught a 20inch 4.5 lb. We caught many in the 13-16 range mostly on deep divers (July). Lake has an excellant rep for bass in the 6-7lb. range.
  4. Small bays and inlets within the creek arms is where we caught our bigger fish (about the same time) last year. If your catching smaller ones back off and fish abit deeper. We had our best luck with spinnerbaits and suspending jerkbaits (natural colors) both fish fairly slow. When we identified stumps or other structure we threw some worms, texas mainly. I did best with black, but i'm sure other colors would have been fine. IMO being in a johnboat wont hurt you too bad unless the weather gets COLD. A person could easily spend a few days picking apart a big creek arm, like Jonathon Creek for exg. at Kentucky Lake. Good Luck

  6. My friend and I are going to take a trip somewhere in the southeast From March 26-March30. My question is: On these dates if you could choose 1 lake in Georgia, Alabama, S. Carolina or maybe far northern Florida where would you go?Lake Eufaula and Murray are 2 lakes we are considering, but we are completely open minded as neither of us have been bass fishing in the deep south before. We live in East Kentucky and our longer trips are traditionally to Tennessee or Kentucky Lake/Barkley. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.
