Jerkbait Comparison Questions.
Not so, sorry. All genuine Megabass lures are made and painted in Japan. Not one comes from China, hence their sometimes troublesome availability. There's a difference in the baits that is pretty incredible. I've caught a lot more fish on a Vision 110 than I have any knockoff, period. And I've given them a fair shot. Part of what you pay for is the finish of the baits, as well as the components and the overall balance of the lures. Are they worth what one pays for them? Depends on how you look at it. If you value craftsmanship and quality, as well as repeatability and reliability, then it isn't too high a price to pay. If none of that matters to you, replace the hooks and rings on cheaper baits, and let the finish come off after a couple hours fishing and let them break in half or not suspend at all. To me, every Pointer or Megabass is worth every penny.

Favorite Lure Of All Times
Uh, no. That's not a rule that I would go by at all. In most cases that lure that is sold out or back ordered is one tht is low production because of low demand. That's generally true of everything in soft plastics and small hard baits. Yes, there are exceptions to the rule, but it's quite rare. In most cases lure manufacturers have a pretty good hold on what's popular, as do retailers, and they're not going to take lost sales on those items. They're going to be well stocked and well supplied.Favorite lure of all time is a jerkbait. Period. Most productive lure of all that I fish is a jig.

Sharpening Your Treble Hooks?
Every time I tie a bait on, I check its hooks. Every four or five casts, I check hooks. I sharpen hooks as needed, there's no specific time line. I may replace hooks on the water or in prep, or any time in between.

Line Goes On Baitcaster Spool Lopsided...what's Wrong?
The reason it happens is actually line tension, opposed to what everyone is telling you to do. Often what happens is there is enough tension on the line that it will pull the level wind to one side or the other for slightly longer during the cycle, eventually causing line to stack on one side. The easiest way to combat it is that if you have line stacking on one side of your reel, use your thumb and forefinger to create tension on the line to hold the level wind in the opposite direction.

Drop Shot Rod: Shimano Vs. St. Croix Vs. Loomis
I do t like the LTB ds rod. I do like the Cumara an awful lot. The Cumara is well suited to a wide range of weights and retains enough power to set the hook on fish if you're rigging weedless. The 7-2 is very nice for dragging a ds, or in fishing very deep water. It's also nice for fishing larger worms like a 6" fat robo, or mag dreamshot. The 6-8 is the best compromise of length and action, however, among the most popular lengths of rod. I would very much rather have a 6-8 vs a 6-9 or 6-10 for the vast majority of what I'm doing. The 6-8 has great accuracy and more than enough power to do just about anything in 18' of water or less. Of those you mention the Cumara is my firt choice followed by the 822 Loomis. That said, if you're patient you can find a GLX for that money, and then, the whole thing becomes more complicated.

Glass Rod Question
You'd be wrong in feeling that. It isn't a matter of disagreement, it's a matter of fact. Fiberglass doesn't have anywhere near the transmission rate of graphite, period. Not to mention the weight offset, you're missing fish.Couple that with the inherent flexibility of glass rods and you simply lack the power needed to drive large, single hooks home. In many, many cases, glass won't be capable of getting an adequate hook set on baits like a jig or heavy Texas rig. Glass rods are ideally suited to moving baits, and not much more than that. There was a time when the worked well for fishing everything, but they were also built a lot different at that time.

Don't Believe The Hype
Anyone that says there are no rules in bass fishing is 100% wrong. There are a handful of rules, the first of which is that fish are dumb. Don't overthink the situation. The second rule is that they have to eat, if you put the right bait in front of them the right way, they're going to eat it. They are wired to do so, they cannot deny their instinct to feed. Lastly, and possibly the most important rule is that you'll never catch a fish if your bait isn't in the water.

Toray Fishing Line
To ray builds a good line. They're have poor consistency rates, and it is overly stiff by size, and you don't pick up the abrasion resistance by comparison. Their finesse lines in 5lb and 7lb are really superb lines.

Thoughts On Quantum Spinning Reels
Quantum most assuredly is not the same as others in the price point. The bails and trips are magnetic for a reason, they suffer from terrible durability issues because of it. They have infinite anti-reverse because they can't design a reasonable, durable selective anti-reverse that is outside patent restrictions of other companies. Their rotors are heavy and poorly balanced, their handles uncomfortable and awkward. The bearings on the rotor are fast to loosen up and become very noisy. The frame metals are poor quality by comparison, and the roller bearing placement on the guide is poorly executed. Other than that, they're great in every detail when compared with reels of a similar caliber. In all honesty, I would fish a pflooger president over a quantum smoke. Even an Exo. No question about it.

Chronarch Ci4 Updates?
I've had no such feel of flex in the reel. I've been abusing my reels to the best of my abilities and have zero complaints. I've caught stripers up to 26lbs on mine and there is no issue with flexing.

What Else Do You Target?
I'm about 90% bass, and the remaining bit split between walleye and Muskie with the occasional Palmetto thrown in there. When I'm forced to ice fish, and don't have time to go south, I really target big bluegills sight fishing.

Scent - Yes Or No????
The best part about MegaStrike is the formulation. Yes it's a paste, but the solubles and fats are those that fish can actually "taste" opposed to a lot of attractants that have near zero effect on the actual sense. In tournaments, nothing leaves my boat without megagoop on it. Nothing.

Angler Released Possible World Record Musky
Muskies Inc had a write up about it, Wisconsin DNR had a bit about it, there are quite a few floating around out there.

Where To Get Lucky Craft Hooks
I actually prefer the #5 VMC for the purpose. I can't get my baits to suspend the same otherwise. I'm near certain that, unless you had a High Rise Vision 110, the #4 ST36 will make the bait sink. The Katsuage Outbarb trebles are a relatively fine diameter hook, and don't have a of weight in the #6.

Half Rockbass? Half Smallie?
Uh... That's not entirely correct. Black bass are in the same family as sunfishes and are more closely related to the rest of the centrarchidae family than crappie. black bass, technically, aren't a bass at all. That said, definitely pure Rock bass here. While not entirely likely in the wild, hybridization of war mouth and black bass has occurred. There has also been documentation of black bass x rock bass, however that cross has not been successfully reproduced in lab conditions.

Angler Released Possible World Record Musky
Revisiting this. While undoubtedly a large fish, the 64" measure has been completely discredited. There have been several biologists that looked at it again and they have compared several "know " measurements to those of the fish and it is more around the 52" mark; not even remotely close to the world record.

Beaver Lake Ar And Stripers
Had a tournament on beaver last weekend. The bite seemed to be, from the guys I was talking to, in the 25-35 range and fast moving baits, anywhere they were finding large pods of shad they would pick off a striper or two. They were also doing very well on 1/2 ounce buck tail jigs around the humps and points, and they're catching a few fish on a spooks/rovers.
-
What Would You Use This Rod For?
Plastics, finesse jigs, jerkbaits, shad raps, grubs, tubes.

Drop Shot Rod
Microlite from BPS is far too light to be an effective drop shot rod, that series of rod has zero backbone. In a drop shot rod, you're after an overall extra fast taper, and medium to medium light. Length depends very much on what you prefer. I fish a 5-9 or 6-3 vertically and a 7-2 for dragging a shot. In between there is a 6-8 which is my favorite overall. As has been mentioned a 2 power rod will be adequate, sure, but get a rod that is fast enough to not move anything but the bait.

More For Your Money
Here's the thing, guys. Yes, you're getting 25% more baits, but they've taken well over a 25% increase since the re-introduction of the bagged baits. Packaging update and piece-count notwithstanding, you're not getting more for your money, they're just makin it look that way in the way they have presented it.

Craws
There's one bait, and I mean one, that I have been ultimately disappointed in in the past five years and that's the culprit incredi-craw. The bait has ZERO motion other than the tentacles. Completely dead in the water. The craws I use on a shakey range from baby rage craw to lobsters and paca craws as well as the missile Fuse.

Best Casting Distance, Spinning Or Bait Caster Whats Your Real / Rod
Longest casting rig I have is a CH50mg tuned with 12lb Tatsu on a GLX 893. I can literally spool it with a 5/16 T-rig. My 7-11 Cumara with a CH200e will chuck a 3/4-1 oz bait 85 yards consistently.

Never, ever had issue with the folks out there. I do, literally, thousands of dollars a year with them and have never had an order charged that wasn't shipped.
