  1. Nice fish and great pic... Nothing to show for efforts yet... But then this artic tundra isn't really ready yet.
  2. My son loves them... He saw strike classics and wanted to use them. I prefer LF Live Magic Shad but these catch fish too. plain and simple. Big fan of the Owner SB hooks too.
  3. What madness is this? R A G E I like the paca craw and the crazy legs as well. My favorite Paca bait is the chunk though... Bitsy bug jig + Paca chunk = good combo.
  4. I may try the other side of the fill on Sunday. Fished part of Lamoille today... Was really enjoying the day until some lady took her two kids swimming right next to my spot. Swimming? Really?
  5. I have few packs of these left. I want to try the Moto Wacky hooks with the 50LB mono weed guard.
  6. Surely ye jest? I have (3) Ugly sticks... Trolling and my ultra-lite. If you use technology correctly, it can make you a better fisherman.
  7. Just buy a Bandit squarebill in the same color.
  8. If it works for you that's great. That being said, I gotta go: My new Dobyns Champion will be here soon!
  9. For 39 bucks! Buy 2. Yes, that's a good buy.
  10. Amen on the jig trailer! Split shot rig is gonna get worn out this year as well. Green pumpkin, summer craw and watermelon red.
  11. LOL WUT? Quality of the blank is the reason it felt more sensitive. I'm not a huge fan of that rod but my friend has one and its quite sensitive especially when fished for its intended design. In the case of rod quality, you get what you pay for up to a certain price point. Compare your $23 stick with say, a $79 Vendetta or Compre... I would be surprised if you thought the same thing.
  12. Practice, practice and then practice some more... Side arm, pitch, flip and overhand all need to be mastered. Remember to keep the bait closer to the tip for accuracy and a butter smooth motion to send it down range. Good gear makes these things easier but that rod is fine... What's the reel? and What's the settings? Youtube some casting vids and............... don't forget to practice!
  13. Outstanding start!!!! Nice fish would speculate 4-5 which is awesome. Can't wait to get out there in VT.
  14. Natural colors work best for me. Shad, Perch and bluegill. If stained water, Sexy Shad seems to produce really well.
  15. 4 power seems to get the call from most people. I just bought a Champion 704 for jig / worm applications.
  16. Early and late I will always have some sort of Pointer tied on. Of course the water in Vermont is pretty darn cold now...
  17. Arrowhead is finally starting to melt... Gonna be a late one this year. Bait monkey is killing me.
  18. While I love St. Croix... Especially the Avid series. I just ordered a brand new Dobyns Champion 704C. With all this lack of fishing the bait monkey is killing me!
  19. I have a few Avids... Would recommend AVCxyMHF for that application. I want to try a Savy as well though. Just never fished one yet.
  20. Big fan of the 6'8 MH fast action rods, I have (3) so far. Powell, Shimano and Abu make great products in the $100-150 range. I have a few Compre's, a Powell Max and a Verdict. The Verdict is still out on the Verdict. Maybe Dobyns Savy would have been a better choice. G Loomis GLX BCR803 was worth every penny I paid for it. Of course I bought it used. St. Croix Avid AVC70MHF was another great investment. Next on the list is a Dobyns Champion for heavier jigs... Just have to see what all the fuss is about.
  21. Expense is relative... Good beginner reels: Shimano Citica Daiwa Exceler BPS Pro Qual Abu Garcia Revo S If you look in the flea market you can probably find a nice reel to start with. All about the right tool for the job.
  22. I had excellent luck with 8# on spinning gear. Its cheap enough where its easy to correct if you don't like it.
  23. Working on both types of rigs. 8# for spinning and 12# for baitcasters for me. Generally speaking co-poly is tough & cost effective especially when purchased in bulk. If its sprayed with line conditioner its very managable. Also has a better sink rate than mono. Basically if you like mono and can't afford or don't like fluoro this will meet both requirements nicely.
  24. I have one and use it as my primary cranking reel. Its super smooth and has a great drag system. After I cleaned it and adjusted it to my liking its been really great. The Shimano Curado E5 is also a fanstatic reel and I would owe that one as well but they don't make lefty.

I use the 78 and 100 for bass. Generally speaking I'll start with the 100 and scale down. If I had to pick just one it would most likely be a 100 in Ghost Minnow or American Shad.
