  1. Not a huge fan of Vanish... Line and Lure is a must!
  2. Highest I go with Fluoro is 17# and even that seems excessive. But I'm not fishing for $$$$$ so.... and 15# Yo-zuri hybrid is super duper tough... Not true Flouro but close and cheap.
  3. You gotta love that guy. : The regular Warden in these parts is very cool though and the older more laid back ones are fun to talk with as well. Chuck Norris PTSD Commando guy... Negative ghost rider the pattern is full.
  4. G Loomis BCR803 GLX 6'8 MH Fast But then I use it for most things.
  5. Flick-it worked well for me as well. Lake fork wacky thingamajig is pretty neat as well.
  6. I keep a scanned copy on my digital camera and smart phone... That way when my kids lose my paper copy and the wallet is locked in the truck I can make Delta Force Game Warden happy.
  7. 12# Yo-Zuri would work well for 733. Braid for the second setup with a fluoro leader when needed.
  8. Welcome. Where do you primarily fish? I normally frequent North LC, Arrowhead, Lamoile and whatever ponds are around. Bring on the thaw!!!!
  9. Heavy salt equal faster sink rate. Tube of Megastrike takes care of the scent. I like Mister Twister, Powerbait and GYCB grubs. Out of all of those GY is my favorite. White worked well for me. Watermelon and red on a naked 1/4 oz jig earned me a killer day of smallies last year.
  10. Daiwa Exceler combo is tough to beat in this price range. If seen rod and reel for $89... My friend has (4) of these combos.
  11. Shallow: Bandit 200 in Perch or shad Deep: Strike King series 5XD Pro Crank in Sexy Shad
  12. After searching to the end of the interwebz. Cabelas makes a disc sinker... Its just a flatten casting sinker with a brass eye. Maybe this is unicorn of tube weights?
  13. A crank sounds right... Square bill or something depending on depth. Spinnerbait or chatterbait would be my second choice. If he does slow down jerkbait and C-rig are your friends.
  14. Alberto Albright Double uni Blood knot etc.
  15. return it... Loose drag will cause this issue. Adjusting the brakes as long as everything is seeded correctly should not.
  16. What type of casting? General purpose, Bottom contact, cranks etc and is this your first BC? What's your price range? What kind of spinning gear do you have now?
  17. Yes sir. Although weightless white fluke is like candy to river smallies here.
  18. I find this to be accurate... Lighter fluoro in general is real pain to pick out regardless and kinks are the kiss of death. Roll casting, handle up are all good points. If you need to overhand cast for whatever reason, make sure the handle goes to you shoulder and its a smooth, fluid motion. If you want to use the thumb trick as DVT pointed out, your drag must be tightened down. Well d**n that sucks! I'll always be using flouro on my baitcasting reels. It depends on the line qualities as well. Just add it to the arsenal and use when applicable. Thankfully with quality gear and some practice issues happen much less frequently. Keep friends and family away from the gear. Nothing says RAGE like your buddy samurai sword casting your lightweight setup with Tatsu on it; then handing it back with a nest that would make an Eagle proud.
  19. It feels like a middle of the road sub $100 reel... Spend $50 more and get a reel that will last alot longer & perform at a much higher level.
  20. hmmm. The last tube weight idea that almost green lighted the bait monkey for me was Woo's Tungsten Tube Weight from BPS. But that's not a disc either, if you find it... Please post it. Tubes are awesome. Better yet have the geezer bring in for you. A penny would seem like a strange fit for me... But who knows. EDIT I guess a heavier washer would work...
  21. http://www.***.com/Yamamoto_Snagfree_Tube_Weight/descpage-YSTW.html I've used them, a small brass sinker will also work just T-rig through the brass loop. Also check Ike's article on ESPN for finesse tubes and how to rig a stupid tube. There's a thread in this forum and the Smallie one. MegaStrike Jig with a wire bait keeper is another method I like a bunch. Still need to field test it this year.
  22. Have to agree with you there...
  23. Awesome! Happy birthday and nice fish.
