  1. Top : Pea Soup Botton : Fire down below.
  2. Rivers/Creeks, I love Roadwarrior's set up. Topwater where the weeds/reeds/pads are fairly tightly packed together, Rage Shad. It's so loud that the "Blurp Blurp, drag over pads, Blurp..." is very effective. I sparser weeds or clear water I use the Rage Toad. The Smoking Rooster landed my biggest Smallies of the year when C-Rigged in 14-28 FOW (5.09, 4.88, 4.75). Make sure you pinch of then tiny piece of plastic from the end of the tail after you separate the tail, I left it on a couple and DID have more hits but the whole "rage tail" would often get torn off, but I never had tail issues with that little piece removed. I really like them!
  3. I was watching Big Bass Battle (whatever the Lake Fork sponsored show is called) and the host was using a snelled offset EWG hook.
  4. Are these navigable waters of Champlain? If so, I can take one on the boat from a nearby launch... One is, the other has no launch for a real boat, although a row/jon boat will work in there. I might have a small Jon boat by then to go along with the canoe.
  5. Lots of stuff up in Grand Isle. Wanderlust nailed it, I'll add find the reefs/humps/ledges off shore for big Smallies and check St. Albans Bay for nice LM. Zoom and Rage Tail Craws on a C-Rig.
  6. rods: Lamiglas reels: Shimano/Abu line: Tuf-Line or Yo Zuri Hybrid hardbaits: Rapala and Strike King plastics: Rage Tail anything... Sebile MS soft storage: Falcon FTO or Plano 3701's
  7. I'm down for a meet up for sure! If we can scare up some Canoes/Kayaks I have access to 2 spots that yielded a few 5lb+ LM EARLY in the season. I got a 6.6lb out of one that had ice on it the day before.
  8. The Mouse/Creature has a cool design feature. Pinch off the middle of the 5 tails. Then take some Med-it, just a drop about 1/3 of the way up the tails from the body. Pinch the 2 right tail together and do the same with the left. BOOM a Frog!!! It can also be fished backwards, like an Ika.
  9. So this summer I was packing up for a trip to the pond and a guy came up to me asking about my Carrot Stix. We got to talking and it turns out he used to fish a bunch of Tournaments down in Florida/Georgia and actually used to guide with my brother way back in the day. Well he and his buddy were getting into starting a hand poured plastics company, Whiskey River Baits. I finally got my hands on some and WOW these things are sick! The Dropshot worm ("Whiptail") with chevrons and the creature/mouse ("Saloon Girl") have me all giddy for spring. I don't know if the pics are clear enough but that clear bait has a pearl/green hue when there is something around it but is clear when backlit. They have a bunch of wicked cool baits in their line up. A bit over a month to go up here. :'( Thanks for resizing my pix GrizzerGreen!
  10. I had a lot luck on it early in the year. I had to fish it with slack and long strokes to get a good action.
  11. It would be insanely expensive, like 4 figures... Titanium is also a very flexible material. Carbon Fiber, to have frame stiffness we desire, would have to be fairly large/bulky frame. Plus with carbon fiber as soon as you damage the fibers under the epoxy kiss it good bye. Once that sort of damage is done (dropped on a rock) the whole structure (if formed from a single piece in a mold) is compromised. Aluminum is the best thing going from the $$$ to performance standpoint. Magnesium and various ceramics would be where I put my $$$ as the next frame materials. (This comes from 15+ years in the cycling/outdoor industry)
  12. Pheobes Rooster Tails Panther Martins
  13. My wife was attacked by 2 Pit/Boxer mixes on November 29th. 36 puncture wounds, 13 stitches, shin, calf, thighs, arm and so far up the inside of her legs that you could barely call the spots her legs... The worst bite took out a pile of fat (it was on the floor) the size of a hamburger bun. The hole was big (long and deep) enough that you could drop a Bic lighter in it. They were going to kill her (dragging her down and going for her abdomen). Her father and his friend got them off her and called me (I was at work) I took her to the hospital. It was the worst dog attack they'd ever seen at the hospital. It's now ~3months past... and she has severe nerve damage in her right thigh from the crushing the jaws did to her quadriceps. A dog barks and breaks down now. She's gorgeous (think Brooklyn Decker and Rachel Hunter) and is having a very hard time with the scars/damage, and she's no fragile flower either, she's tougher than me! These dogs changed her for the rest of her life. She was raised with Pits, our neighbor has a little one (my beagle kicks it's butt). And we know it's ignorant to think Pits are the only dogs out there that could have done this, heck a Lab or a full size Poodle could have. However when you combine the demographic of a great deal of their owners, the inbreeding, and their physical make up, yeah there is a huge potential for incidents with them (I think "threat" is a bit strong). Maybe now that I am so close to this sort of incident but I truly do not trust any of them anymore.
  14. 7'10" H BPS Nitro with a PQ (7.1:1) and 50lb PP or 7'6" H C-Stix with a Revo S (6.4:1) and 50lb PP
  15. My PB smallie was on a 5' UL. Try a 1/16th oz jighead with a Tiny Ika...
  16. Things start to explode right around exam time. You "CAN" get huge Smallies off the fill/bike path in Colchester/Mallett's Bay. The Lakers and Salmon will chase and ball up the Smelt/Alewifes in the breaks (bridge sections) of the fill. The area Smallmouths follow and poach the bait balls. I've seen 2 6lb SM and a 12lb laker taken in the same spot in an hour. If you have access to a car get a ride to a few of the small rivers and creeks that run under Shelburne Road (intentionally vague) for 3-5lb Smallmouths on light tackle. PM me if you want and we can hook up when it warms up. I lived in Harris 420 my freshman year (96-97).
  17. Just be aware of the fact that the neighborhood association may just say this is a waste of time/annoyance and ban fishing all together. I'd be on your side, but associations can be a huge P.I.T.A...
  18. Me to! This is a frame I designed for Niner Bikes and the International Mountain Bike Association. Right now I have a custom "Royal Cycles" built by a friend of mine.
  19. Ikas, Senkos, Hags. Just go slow.
  20. There's this LM that lives in certain weed bed less than 50 yards from a really popular beach on Champlain. A fish this big in a body of water this big shouldn't be there... We saw her a few times this past season as she was blowing up on Perch, bullhead, P-Seeds on the surface. She looked to be as thick as a gallon jug of Gatorade. We flipped her bed for hours upon hours this summer and never were able to get her. We started doing "Chuck Norris of Bass" jokes, then it drifted into Osama Bin Laden jokes (can't catch) then we finally settled in on "Al Qaeda Bass".
  21. Cabelas Fish Eagle II's are on sale for $50 right now. Lots of ~$50 rods at Cabelas right now.
  22. What do I have to do to link youtube videos like you guys have (I done forgot). Thanks! Aaron Flinn, Born A Man Jose Gonzalez, Heartbeats (this is the same guy that did the song for Red Dead Revolver) Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, I Learned the Hard Way (little bit soul and funk, and actual instruments!) Cat Empire, 2 Shoes, Some new British Ska, Video Clip from one of my favorite MTB movies (first love) The Street Dogs, Final Transmission. This is the original lead singer, founder of the Dropkick Murphy's Adele, Rolling In the Deep. One of the few singers out there that don't need all sorts of effects to make their voices sound good, she's amazing. When in doubt put in a copy of The Last Waltz.
