  1. Fat ika type bait. Geecrack Spiron Magdraft Freestyle rigged weedless. Heavy enough to fall through the stalks buy weedless when pulled through. Bigger profile pushes out a lot of water and being less floppy than say a Keitech the paddle will not be as hindered by the weeds
  2. Found more info: Brand new 36mm Mag Z boost LC spool. Brand new drag system. Newly redesigned T wing. New elongated body. New 95mm solid handle. Double stopper mechanical clutch lock. Only weighs 1 ounce more than 100 size Definitely made for the 15lb+ line user It's a sub 8 oz version of what you could call a Shimano 275 sized reel.

Definition of under the radar bait.
  4. Basically the Zillion HD wasn't HD enough and Daiwa saw the market finally understand the Zillion HD 1520. Loads of swimbait dudes use that reel. The capacity is the only meh against the current Zillion and this solves it.
  5. 3, 5, 7 of the overall top 10 1, 2, 4, 5 (live on), 8, 17 and 22 of the top 25 Northeast.
  6. Zappu Breddy magnum hooks Zappu Bellows Hook Ryugi carolina rig weights (bell shaped with a straw) Zalts lines have so far been pretty good too.
  7. One of the hottest things to do over the last couple years has been a ned type plastic on a football jig. No gobies in Champlain and it's not fished like a ned. If I carolina rigging I like the claws but on a jig I don't really worry.
  8. Based on the ebay prices I think you may be right and I am retiring tomorrow!
  9. Black Dog Shellcracker & The Buzzjets
  10. Daiwa 200s are basically the same as Shimano 300s, so ergonomics will be pretty different. Then comes spool diameter being a bit different so a say 7.1:1 in each will pull a different length of line. With that out of the way the ratios for glides are usually higher speeds. It sort of comes down to line diameter you're using and bait size. 3oz and 15lb mono? yeah any shimano 200 will be fine. 20lb mono and a deps 250... Daiwa 200 all day.
  11. Lol!!! They did the same thing last year in Vermont with the Smallmouth. It wasn't even 4lbs and the dude said it was 7. His buddies even called ot out and the state kept promoting it.
  12. All good suggestions above. Throw in there the Eagle Claw Laser swimbait hook. Good spring, cheap and they rarely come off once hooked.
  13. I am by no means uptight, frankly I am positive my kids wish I was more uptight lol. Reaction Innovations bait colors turn me off from their products altogether.
  14. St Croix blanks are sold as Rod Geeks blanks.
  15. Anecdotally... I read your title and immediately thought the exact model you mentioned in your post. Been a lot of mentions around the internet (and a buddy who's broke) that the tips snap on those. It's weird because the shorter ML and M xf rods don't seem to have the issue. What do you use the rod for? Tangentially the knot around the tip top in the photo, if it happened before the break will definitely cause a break.
  16. Daiwa 200 reels are basically Shimano 300s when it comes to size and capacity. I have a 710 Hf St Croix BassX for 3/4 to 3 Oz baits. Has an og Citica E on it and I probably throw this rod more than most of my much higher end conventional gear. Next step up is a 79Hr Tatula swimbait rod with Catalina tws (think older ZillionHD but jdm). It's pretty good but I sort of lack in the 3-5oz baits so it's not used a lot compared to others. Big boy is a 710XXHf St Croix BassX. Tatula 200 on it. Not a super high-end combo but it does 90% as good as a Megabass or Leviathan for one eighththe price (paid 60 shipped). I throw Deps 250s and the big Baitsanity glides on it a fair amount. Baits this size get the fish to follow and show themselves which has helped find them (sans ffs). Like the old Nintendo game Black Bass, throw the bait and see the shadows come up behind it. Big baits can def be tiring, a rod that is comfortable is a huge help.
  17. Teckel has a nice higher end rod as well
  18. This will sound goofy... the 72 is more moderate than fast. The 73 is more fast than moderate. It's a jig rod The 77 at scheels is a longer version of the shower blows rod (thats a big topwater rod...) The 710 is a flipping stick 71 is a smaller jig/senko rod
  19. It is a sliiiightly more progressive taper than the Tatula (looooved that rod). The Tatula you could feel where it shut off the CS doesn't have that feeling
  20. I've owned and fished 5 of them The 73Hmf is verrrrrrrry similar to a Megabass Perfect Pitch. Blindfolded I'd struggle to tell apart 71MHf spinning is a great tube/finesse football rod The Gizmo spinning model has a super soft tip great for strolling & bug baits 78HF is a really nice smaller swimbait rod The 72MHmf is a unicorn... called the moving bait/shower blows model. Fantastic spook rod, great big jerkbait and single hook soft swimbait/spinnerbai/buzzbait rod. Doable 15ft cranks and chatterbaits. In a pinch you can flip a senko and have plenty of sensitivity. I bought a backup of it just in case, I never ever do that.
  21. What are their weight range? Your price comfort range?
  22. webertime replied to Kayak Koz's topic in Fishing Tackle
Saw a really smart rigging method today for them. Open a regular paperclip, find the midpoint then slide one way .5". Form a U with it. Put the shank of a treble in the U up from the curves. Grab the 2 arms below the belly of the hook with pliers. Twist the hook 2-3 times so the wraps are on the shank. Hold the 2 tag ends and center where the hook should be on the bait. Push the tags trough the bait til it's against the belly of the hooks. Fold the tag ends (opposite eachother) up and clip extra. If needed you can do a nail weight.
  23. LM: Weightless plastic (ika or senko) Magdraft Freestyle Frog bladed jig SM: Carolina rig speedcraw Lil football with ned Spook bladed jig
  24. The sub 6ft Zman ned rods are quite impressive. I think it's materials and design that make the difference.
  25. Check Sierra Trading Post for closeout simms etc sun clothing. Higher quality stuff but maybe limited sizes or meh color but they still do what is needed.
