  1. There's a bunch of light A-rigs out there. I was very much in the "I hate casting these" club. Then I got a Raid Ghost Wire and used one 6" OSP dolive shad on it with an 1/8oz head. Second most effective bait so far this spring for me. Maybe a fart over an ounce in total weight. I believe there's others from Geecrack, Ryugi, and other jdm companies. (They were made for strolling, but work fine as single hook a-rigs).
  2. Their "standards" are great, marginally worth it at msrp. Their "weirdo" baits are a huge waste IF you don't figure out what to do with them. IE the vision 110 lbo... floats faster than a helium balloon out of a kids hand. It's a $25 floating Rapala. The Bottom Slash is wildly overlooked on the other end of their oddball baits. Their plastics are good but certain baits aren't world changers (looking at you spark shad) but the bottle shrimp is awesome and very unique.
  3. If you have to replace... then Stainless Abec 5 bearings are fine. If they're just dirty then get them cleaned up. Bearing swaps are pretty low on the dollar spent vs improvement to your fishing scale.

I went from hater to fan by: Slowing down, speed variable seems to be important to the fishes mood Chunkier trailers. More meat to get vacuumed in. 4.5 Lake Fork Magic Shad was part of the revelation. Softer tipped rod helped when used with bigish line.

I was the same as you. Then I got a bladed jig... dang it.
  6. Right on. Then if it's a direct connect handle not a hex shaft, a BG 2000 (maybe 2500) handle will have the knob
  7. Isn't the knob itself replaceable? Should only be a couple dollars from diawa.
  8. Fat Ika time!
  9. I wish there was a "love it" reaction.
  10. For when the Baby Manatee bite is hot
  11. Carolina rig. Deeper water flipping

  13. Looks sort of like a Duo Wriggle Stick with less, ummm errrr, contractions?
  14. How deep we talking? I rig a lot. Like made fun of for it, a lot. Are you doing braid to flouro then to the swivel then to the leader? I'm on Champlain and spend a lot of time on St Lawrence rigging in very similar situations. Straight 20lb Flouro (trying 18 Tatsu) to a Phenix Finesse weight (in weeds) to a Spro swivel. Braid when a weight is sliding on it, over crustaceans (yes they're all over milfoil stalks) will still fry quickly. It's different than flipping (up and down with the stalks) because you're dragging through/across them. Stick to a hard line. Leader... nobody can show that a 1-6' piece of mono floats a bait more than flouro. Don't overthink it... 12lb YoZuri Hybrid is awesome stuff. Also if you think about what a rig does, it mimics some creature on the bottom. It's on the bottom for 2 reasons. Lives there or is dying. If it lives there, it does so for a reason and floating off the bottom isn't something it will do naturally. If it's dying (Fluke or bull flat) they dart around a bit then settle, the leader material won't make a difference. I love rigging but if you're going bushwacking with it, it's definitely a steep learning curve (different weeds snap at different loads so a mix of weeds will have 2+ different feelings. Add in the clams and rocks and gravel etc. That's a lot of different thumps to sus out which is a fish. Also baits getting pulled down by the weeds. Leader needs to be short too.
  15. Buddy got one, fished it yesterday, I got a few casts in. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Is quieter Did nothing for distance regardless of settings. An OG Tatula 200 with 20lb Fluorocarbon threw the same bait further. He backlashed 4 times. Feels like a revo that yells at you.
  16. Few baits that I haven't used much. Built 2 rods for deep dragging stuff. Rehabbed a couple reels now I need rods for them. The cycle continues. I did get a few Raid Dead Boy swimbaits. Holy smokes they're amazing.
  17. I do a Junebug to morning dawn Keitech football. Gets bit for sure
  18. The JT is a good bait. Basically can't go wrong with any mentioned above.
  19. Glideway 126 and 176 Trick shad Chad Shad Poke around and Deps 175 are in your price range.
  20. Late June they break up. Some go deep some go shallow. The May timeframe everything works. I carolina rigged the marina in St Albans bay one cast , jerkbait the next (caught fish on both). Senkos, ikas, Ned's, Keitech footballs, bladed jig, ALL work. Water over 50 degrees a spook comes into play.
  21. I live just up the road from there. "Best" starts in ernest end of the first week of May (look at the hills and you see a slight shade of green due to trees budding). Tons of fish around there that time of year. My Champlain pb came out of Lapans (next bay north) then at 6lbs, 2 casts before I got a 6.5 lm. It's "amazing" til about Father's day. Message me if you want any info.
  22. My bfs paperweight errrr reel is a Fuego CT with a Ray's Studio spool. Works well, should probably use it more.
  23. Lower and slightly forward mass of the head in relation to the line tie
  24. If they fit the driveshaft I'd give it a whirl.
